First date

Excitement filled the room as Eclipse, a tall slender woman with bright orange hair, brought in the mail. Only a month ago Ethren had filled in the application for a strange dating serves and today he’d receive his first list. The former law enforcer, however, wasn’t the one that was excited – it was the carrot top and their son. Ethren didn’t want to join a dating serves, he didn’t want to go steady with anyone since he left his wife years back. The night with Eclipse had been a fluke in his plan. Yet his son’s wife was determined to set him up. ”Life without love is no life at all,” was her excuse and for whatever reason it convinced him to fill out the application.

“Mail’s here,” Eclipse song out as she stepped into their kitchen and crossed the fake marble tiling to reach the breakfast table where her son, Zephrik and Ethren sat. “And look what came for you,” a pale colored hand slid a letter in front of the older male at the table, “a letter.”

Ethren eyed the woman he was staying with, as if it would erase this whole situation, but seeing as his efforts were failing he took the letter and slid his butter knife through the edge to open it. Eclipse towered over his shoulder trying to catch a glimpse of what it said. Ethren quickly read over the words before folding it up and placing it back into its envelope. He wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of reading it herself. “Looks like I have a date,” it was said with the utmost gloom. He was not looking forward to this dismal circumstance. It wasn’t the woman, Hartley that made him feel as if he just stepped into an awful situation but knowing that he’d live his comfort zone. Ethren had never been on a date since he was in high school and the only person he ever dated was his wife. Was he even ready for such a jump?

Feeling something was wrong, Zaphrik spoke up, “Don’t worry daddy, you can do anything!” Ethren’s son always thought that, he was still in the phase of idealizing his father.

“Thanks,” Ethren said with a small smile. His son was right. If he could stand up to a gang of criminals then meeting up with one woman shouldn’t be difficult at all.

“But… what am I going to wear?”
