"Congratulations. You. Have. Arrived~!" HoshiTe looked around, and spotted the rest of the group in the distance ahead. Back in her normal voice, she told the others, "Well, not quite there...darned Garmin. Let's head up there and meet them."

...and so they jogged up the rest of the way to rendezvous with JB and whoever else was still with him.

((And now consider me afk, going to be gone at least half an hour. Consider us following Joseph until I return.))

Joseph had wandered the golden streets with stealth-Ray in tow, looking from large house to large house. Looking for one with a fairly large yard, but not necessarily the biggest mansion available, and hopefully... Bingo. Joseph saw one with the sign 'PROTECTED BY FROST-SHIELD'.

"Bingo." And he immediately went to his wrist, bringing up a satellite view of the district and zooming in until he had a nice view of the property. Then like a kid playing some sort of video game he began placing structures on the map and issuing commands.

"First we're gonna want this..." He spoke to himself as he put in a simultaneous command to commandeer the security system and build a nice big fortified control tower into what used to be a six car garage. The control tower would take a bit to complete and the commandeering wouldn't activate until it was built, but there was no reason not to keep the robots busy.

"Then how about some..." The next step would be building a storage shelter to keep all their stuff safe, act as a safe-room if the house didn't have one, and keep his robots restocked. They didn't need that pantry.

"And then this wall needs to be stronger... and that entrance is useless.... Best do this..." His final command was a fortify one, least thing to be done, but it would help make the move from "big home" to "fairly fortified base of operations".

"Masterpiece." He hit the execute command to wait for the robots... And while he waited for his crew and the rest of em, he removed his flask and took a long deep drink.

Quote:
Command: Commandeer - Robots can gut a Frostschild facility and replace all necessary computers with A~E friendly equipment. Essentially seizing the use of structures and equipment for Joseph’s use.
$100, 000 | 2hrs, requires control tower

Build: Control Tower - A beautiful A~E transmission tower that allows for constant broadcast between home base and Frostschild. While it does nothing on its own, it allows Joseph a wider range of control thus opening up new options. One of the chief advantages is he can give the control of robots to home base, thus allowing them to follow and take orders from people other than Joseph.
$200, 000 | 5hrs

Build: Storage Shelter - Using both the terrain available as well as shipped materials, the robots can build a lockable storage shelter with multiple advantages. Firstly the construction team can now go to any shelter rather than the base camp. Secondly, any other robot inside the shelter does not count against the Nav-Wrist’s limit. Thirdly, after an hour of being in storage each robot is reloaded, after two they are repaired.
$90, 000 | 2.5hrs

Command: Fortify - With a little hard work the robots can turn almost any small structure into a defensible location. This process includes permanently sealing exits, reenforcing walls, and perhaps building a few new ones.
$65, 000 | 2hrs

Estimated completion time: 5hrs for the control tower and security system, 4.5 for the rest, 9hrs combined.

Net loss: $455, 000
Remaining Bank: $1, 390, 000

"Finally."

Sam had had it with tunnels and ickly things. She didn't consider herself a belle that couldn't get dirty, but even she had a preference for clean, pretty and neat things. So as she looked at the house that Joseph was standing in front of, she smiled. They'd have a bill to pay the family if they ever returned, but for now, it was spoils of war. She walked up behind him, and put her hands over his eyes.

"Guess who, handsome."

Ray snapped out of follow mode, if only for a short time. By the look of things this particular house would make a fine base of operations, at least it would in a few hours.

"I'll give you a hint Joseph, it most defiantly isn't me." Raymond added with a laugh as he simply tossed his backpack off against a wall and took a seat, leaning his rifle up against the wall of the structure as well. Raymond hadn't taken a rest from walking since they had gotten here, and it was beginning to take a bit of a toll. Un-zipping a pocket on his backpack Ray removed a single bottle of water, now warm from heat, and took a drink...mmmm, nothing like lukewarm water.

"Not sure?" Smug and jokey as usual, "Everyone else alright, and more importantly you haven't hurt yourself have you?"

A dorky grin after the last comment as he returned the flask to his pocket.

"Still, we's got to regroup now. Do me a favor and give the rest of our motley crew word that 1064 Or Street is our new home sweet home?"

She moued, her face puckering up slightly in annoyance. But she just rolled her eyes and sighed softly.

"Only my pride." A little disappointment never hurt anyone, she supposed.

She then snapped off a smart assed salute. "Aye aye, mon captaine." She really was loosening up around this bunch and it was doing her a world of good, even if she did have to almost kill herself every day.

She picked up the walkie talkie and spoke over it. "Three days ago we set up residence at One thousand plus Sixty Four Or Street."

"Alright guys, I'm going to start up on the job we were hired to do here...I'll be looking around if you all need me." Ray said as he pushed off the ground, letting the water bottle simply fall and lay on the ground next to his backpack. Picking up his rifle he set the safety switch to the 'on' position and set off to take a look around inside some of the rather large homes that dominated the area.

"If you hear gunfire or screaming...well don't do anything I wouldn't do." he said with a chuckle as he walked off and turned the corner around the side of the house, off to investigate the area. He skipped the house directly next door, and even the one after that...instead he went down to the very end of the street, to the house on the far corner and stopped, better just pick a place and start looking. Pushing open the door with one hand he peeked his head inside.

"Anyone home?"

And it was the same here, in the rich section that it was in the poorer parts of town. No one home. The smell of burning food came from the kitchen and was that water trickling down the stairs?

"I'll call you if I need you Ray, good luck. Just come back here if you run into say... Another robot spider." Joseph gave a wave as the other man left.

"So, Sam. Kid Icarus there sent my this here picture." He sauntered over to Samantha and held out his wrist machine for her to see. Clearly displayed on it was the close up picture of the robot. Right down to the slightly smeared CC logo, "This worry you as much as it worries me? I think we need a plan faster than we first thought."

arrow The Rises

A team of twelve or so robots of various builds and makes rushed in from the Rises. Some were floating, some were bipedal, some had treads. Large, small, and all sorts in between. The only really unifying characteristic was they were all CAT yellow with a few instances caution stripes, and of course decals that identified them as "Alpha through Epsilon" property.

Now all they had to do was find the right house.

Burning food? and what was that sound...running water? Taking a step inside Ray un-shouldered his rifle and took the safety off, making the gun all the more lethal now. Treading lightly Raymond first went towards the kitchen, as the threat of fire seemed a little worse than that of flooding or a water leak. Going in with gun aimed, Raymond would scan the kitchen to see what exactly it was that was burning. He was on his guard now, more so even than that Raymond was scared. This whole ordeal was rather frightening.

s**t! More robots?!

What the hell?

If Gambion had any recollection of Carter City at all, he would be downright pissed. Robots belonged there, not here. They were a ways off to his left, but going in the same direction as him. Luckily they didn't seem to want to shoot him either.

In fact, they didn't look like the kind of massive shoot everything robots that he was expecting. Didn't that Joseph guy call in a robot back at the steel place, after they had dealt with the first one?

Perhaps he should follow these and see where they took him.

Sam's eyes widened as she looked at the picture. "Oh hell no..." That picture did not make Sam happy in the least. But it did get her to thinking. She looked up at Joseph, a dead serious expression on her face, much like the prim and proper lady she used to act like.

"Joseph, if that's one of the Cat's Cradle robots, then we have a whole new situation on our hands...." her fingers went to rest upon her thigh holster.

"And if they hired someone to keep it quiet...no wonder they shot at me instead of the creepy things that crawled out of the robot." Thinking about the men who'd shot at her, and she'd been damned lucky to escape. Her mind began going into overtime.

"So we know of at least two teams of people about. Three actually, since a city empty of people couldn't have blown up that building that caused the earthquake most likely. So we'll go on the assumption of three at minimum. We're not the only ones to have heard of it. And with Frostchild being such a rich supposedly Utopian society, I wouldn't put it past some...rogues and the like to make their way here. I hate cliches, but I'm going to round it out to five or six groups to be on the safe side. Each with their own objective. "

She really hoped it wasn't that many, but her experience taught her otherwise. Always give yourself a 25-50 percent margin of error against yourself. And when your life was in danger, always go with the higher number.

The kitchen was nice and clean except for the towering smoking pan. And bacon in the pan apparently. or what once might have been bacon. But the most interesting thing was the scent of gas in the room. Very heavy, almost breathtaking. There wasn't much in the way of oxygen. It would help now that he'd opened a door and peeked in. But he'd best be careful.

Allen and his group would arrive at the address soon enough, though they had moved a bit slower because the bleeding had gotten a bit worse. Allen's wings were out again, bits of blood seeping out and to the ground from them. It was hard to keep them inside when they were bleeding, and though normally they would have closed up by now, it seemed that there were still bits of shrapnel in them.

Still, they would arrive at the address, and go inside with the rest of the group. And when Allen made it to Joseph and Sam, the first thing he'd do would to be to deal with his wounds.

"So, does that image I sent mean anything to you, Joe? I'd hate to have actually engaged the robot for nothing, but I had to get closer for the picture."
