"Bah." Aiolos frowned, "Guess Bryant's gonna have to wait a little longer for his answers."

There wasn't any sign of struggle, or anything happening. No bullet holes, blood, nothing. Aiolos was preparing for the worse.

"Come on..." He motioned to Lah, "Maybe we'll have better luck somewhere else."

He started following Gambion again.

Mozz responded on his watch communicator “Thanks for the info Base group, alpha returning to base” That sounded so much cooler when she said it.

A similar situation would no doubt have occurred in the home Mozz was investigating. Gambion was right, there was nothing here. He ran up to where Gambion was running off “Base camp is the steel district, this way!”

"Alright then..." Lah followed Gambion.

But not immediately.

First he dashed back to the house he'd knocked open and looked around, just for a couple seconds. To make it worth knocking the door in in the first place.

Then, exeunt to the District of Steel.

"Nah, you a*****e. You saw them yourself, I asked and they came."

He paused.

"Dead soldiers talk too, y'know."

Spooky looked down the district area, minding the somewhat unnerving feeling of a near empty city. An entire population, just gone, it wasn't the first time he had seen such isolation, but with leaving a trace? Not even the SS were that good at ethnic cleansing. Despite this, scratched his nose idly and looked down at his feet. Staring at the manhole cover.

"Here."

The soldier reached down and unsheathed his large knife, sticking it into the cracks between the rim. With both hands he lifted it using the blade as leverage, tossing it out of the way and revealing the putrid smell.

"They want covert, we give them covert."

"I saw some floatin', rathin' ghost grod - if I saw some damned ghosts, they'd be damn lucky I wouldn't be able to shoot 'em!"

Yeah, Ebris hated all things meta that rathin' much.

While this was an in and out deal, he was still hoping he could put the hurting on some folk before all things were said and done, especially if they were metas. He didn't give much thought to what the soldier said, what, with him not being a soldier and all. Ebris' philosophical understandings were about as deep as a mud puddle in the middle of a desert.

After a minute of trudging, they made their way into what was basically a bunch of groddy prefab shelters. Ebris chuckled under his breath and shook his head, the sights reminding him of his old days as a miner. Ebris eyes and ears were peeled for any activity, and made sure to move low and quiet.

"Eh?"

Looking down at Spooky's motion, Ebris was relieved by what he then saw - a means to not run around like chicken grod pansies all the time. Ebris was bent down initially, but when the sewer lid was removed and all those lovely smells started wafting up from below, he pulled back and grimaced slightly.

"Whoo, this is sure gonna be fun. Don't worry, Ryke, I'll hold yer hand when the rats start pouring out!" The bounty hunter rumbled slightly with laughter, and was about to head on down when he finally began to hear noises off in the distance. It sounded like explosions.

"You rathin' hear that?"
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 2:56 pm

Ghosts huh? Well what the hell. It wasn't that Ryke didn't believe in the whatcha'call it, all that supernatural or para-whatever considering she was a Gaian native and all kind of crap like that was normal. However, that didn't mean she had to like it, and much like her bounty brute counterpart, it annoyed her.

She said nothing in response to his statement, about wanting to shoot them, and instead focused on Spooky now, eyes falling to the soldier as he lifted the manhole cover and released a foul odor that belonged to the sewers beneath their feet.

Grand.

Eh, she'd seen worse as an Aekea resident, it was the most industrial part of the entire Gaian continent. Her partner's wisecrack earned a snort. "Shut up." If anything of the sort had affect on the massive hunter, Ryke had half a mind to smack him up the side of his thick head with something blunt and heavy.

That's when the covneniantly loud sounds of explosions and the like sounded off none-too far away from their locale. "Well if you shut your ********' mouth a second I could."

Spooky chuckled softly to himself at the joke and began to lower himself into the sewer feet first when all too familiar sounds began to echo their way over to the trio. He was about half way in, holding himself with upperbody strength and nothing else.

"Yep."

The soldier grinned wickedly.

"They're in my playing field: that was an RPG if there ever was one. I'll tell you what."

He suddenly disappeared, for about a second there were no sounds until he hit the bottom with a splash and called up from the darkness.

"They probably aren't too far off! Just follow this route to them, and we should get there."

Spooky lowered his Nightvision monocular and turned it on, along with his the laser sight mounted onto the side of the M4 before looking back up at the circle of light.

"Shut the door behind you Ebris, I am going on ahead."

Exit to Industrial Sewers.

Shouyin came out south into an area of subsidized housing, eerily deserted. He knew the place was supposed to be empty - was supposed to be quiet - but God damn it was just so -still-. It was easier in the forest, but here you had to face that sickening sense of lifelessness in a place where life was meant to thrive. That air of comfort, of tradition, of municipal vitality, was entirely gone, and it didn't take any sort of metaphysical connection to be able to sense its dire absence.

Three figures working around a sewer grate quickly came into view and, taking much more for granted than he should have under the witness of three armed strangers, the man jogged quickly forwards, making an obvious noise of his boots striking against the cobbled pavement. Of course, there was a little more than brazen self-confidence in Shouyin's sudden rush towards these characters; he hadn't been in the first drop plane with them, but if they were Kitten Hats they'd be able to identify one another through the context of the mission, if not, well... the type of arms suggested those Greywater mercs the GPD was supposed to be sending in, and like Hell they all knew each other - he'd just lie.

Nevertheless, he'd be right up beside the big one soon enough.

As he was guiding Ryke down the manhole to give their team cover for the rear, Ebris caught movement in the peripherals of his old blues.

Despite his age and size, the bounty hunter was up in a flash, training his Carnosaur directly at the newcomer.

"Contact-" Ebris whispered into his headset before speaking to the guy.

"Who the rath do you work for?"

Ebris barked out the question, the massive revolver-like weapon pointed directly at the guy's center mass. He was dressed in gear that suggested he was one of Kitten Hat's operatives.

"KH?" he said, waiting for him to speak the abbreviation in its full form. Kitten Hats had contracted a Black Ops team, and therefore no one else should have known what it was. If the guy made any sort of hesitation of any sort, he'd more than likely wind up with a pretty decent-sized hole in his chest.

"Contact-"

What the ********> Holy s**t, Shouyin was wearing a headset! He'd put it on with the mask for the drop - somehow his buds up on high had gotten a hold of his Cat's Cradle gear - and forgotten to take it off post-landing, and now he was hearing voices! Being at least halfway up the step on his A-game, the man quickly reasoned out what the Hell was going on, and sighed. Shoddy mysterious equipment had this weird way of cutting itself off until it was most convenient for it to start working again, and only now was Shouyin hearing his teammates' voices on the line.

"Kitten Hats," the man spoke 'simultaneously': directly to Ebris and into his mic, hoping his position would be made clear.

Ebris groaned a sigh of relief and lowered the Carnie, denying Ebris of first blood. He'd get chances to later, of course, but he was anxious to start cratering the bodies of folk who knew just a wee bit too much about what was going on in this here city.

"Throne-damned, nearly gave me a heart attack!" The bounty hunter spat to the side, glaring somewhat at the new operative. "We're clear. It's one of us," he said into the headset. He was glad that the damn team was meeting up now finally, at the very least.

"What the rath's yer name, by the way? Damned company tells us grod nothin'! What what the rath is up with that damned arm!?" That part had been bugging Ebris. The bounty hunter had seen the steel part - not a big deal, prolly an implant. But the other one was grodpacked stone! This were gonna get iffy if this rather was a meta.

Ebris knew he'd deal with it, though, as there was a helluva lotta creds involved in this gig. He could just shoot and beat an extra amount of people to make up for his anger in being teamed up with a meta. Shaking his head, he waved the man into the sewer.

"Anyway, get yer a** down there. Gonna take the grodtubes all the way to the fun zone. I'm sealin' the thing up behind ya - also, do you know where the rath our other sumbitch operatives are?"
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 4:20 pm

"Sorry, came in late on the drop - they took a second run," Shouyin shrugged and poked at his head, trying to brush his hair out in such a way that the thing didn't bother him as much. "I'm Shouyin, you?" he asked as he slung his axe into a strap on the side of his backpack and fiddled with his sleeves, nearing the grate.

"Oh, this thing?" he eyed his right hand, "Long story, had an accident." Shrugging, he followed Ebris' advice and started climbing into the sewer, gripping the ladder bars awkwardly as he tried to wedge his pack in with him.

"No idea, I didn't see anyone else at the site - just followed all your tracks here. Might've gotten blown off course, I'unno - this site's sketchy," he smirked and made his way into the Industrial Sewer.

Booms of some sort of explosive are what brought Colin moving faster than he would have liked to the Worker's Rest. Some many abandoned houses were kind of eerie, but that wasn't important. A quick assessment showed no signs of explosions in the near vicinity. Looking towards the sky, Colin saw a small trail of smoke.

Well, that was at least a destination.

Ducking into some shadows between two houses, Colin would dig into his pack and pull out his jacket. Removing his shirt to hopefully keep it from getting too hot in there, he'd don the cycling jacket, zipping it up until the hood covered his entire face. Goggles to mask the eyes, Colin would stuff his shirt into his backpack and continue north through the town, ducking through shadows and houses.

In one house, Colin found a radio. AM, FM, the works. Testing it out, the speaker crackled softly. Good. It ran on batteries. It might come in handy.

Sticking that in his pack, he continued on his way.

North, to the District of Steel.

Chen enters into this region from the Palace Dome, looking back as he waits for his partner to catch up. As he stands there, he looks toward the manhole, stopping and just staring at it. For some reason, he would feeling a breeze coming from it. Not your normal windy breeze, but one of a more....magical sense, you could say.

Why was the sense of these "anti" fields coming from there? Were they down there, too? Unless....

FWSSSH!

The silver winter coat came off, fluttering to the ground as Chen draws both of the pistols from inside his winter coat, his coat fluttering along with the scarf catching in the chilly wind. He knew what he had to do. He apologized for not following his protocol, but for once he was going to follow his own personal will, not the one of anyone else. He made a promise, and thus he will keep it. Even if it meant....his life? Was he that devoted to a goddess he had just met?

Moving the manhole aside, he takes a deep breath before he leaps into the hole, his coat flowing upward as if he was batman disappearing into his batmobile, but of his pistols drawn and ready. His psychic concentration went into its best as much as it could, Chen going into this personal calm with himself. It was go time.

Sullivan was going to get it.
