Chuck let out a great big happy sigh, having held her breath a bit as they walked in amongst these small herdbeasts. It was a surreal experience to see her brother settle down next to a fawn like he WAS one, and for a moment, thats what she saw - his horns, his hooves, those were the distinctive parts of him that actually made him fit in.
Chuck didn't have horns. She didn't even have wings technically.
"You look natural here."

Palahala turned his gentle eyed gaze on his sister and smiled. "It's like home here Chuck, I love them because they are with me where ever I go. I hate to see them hurt but I know that it is necessary for everyone to survive that many must fall by the predators. At times like this, I am home though, i can protect them for a time and enjoy the peace that being in the herd brings."
He lay there ever so silently then, a serene feeling washing over his whole being. This was what he was, it was home for him and he felt safe amongst the herd. "I wish I had a herd all of my own, one I could look after forever. A herd all of my own."

"What's to stop you?" she asked him innocently. "I mean, not yet. I wouldn't forgive you if you left home now."
She smiled at him and fought the urge to playfully pounce him, since he looked so peaceful. Besides, her sudden movements might terrify the little beasts all grazing around her. So she just calmly approached Pala and kind of flopped partially onto him as a gesture of affection.
"But you'd be the biggest herdbeast ever and could have a nice big herd of your own."

He paused for a moment as his sister flopped beside him. he looked across at her and groomed her cheek affectionately. "I won't leave Chuck, I love our family, even, even Uhai, I know we are a part of each other." he sighs gently his gaze turning tot he skies.
"One day I will have my very own herd Chuck and no one will hurt it. One day" he smiled and leaned happily on his sister, he felt safe and secure beside her, amongst this herd which wasn't his but within which he was welcome.
"You'll always be welcome to stay with me Chuck. I like having you with me you won't hurt me or my friends."

"Good. Home wouldn't be the same without you," she said as she gnawed gently on his ear.
Chuck began to wonder what Uhai would do when he was older. Predators didn't really live in groups, 'cept for lions...and hyenas and wild dogs. Hmm, more of them lived together than she thought. She also idly mused how she'd act around Uhai. She loved her other brothers as much as she did Pala, but she always acted a little differently around them all. Her most at ease was probably around Zoe or Pala.
Her tail flicked about lazily. She gazed up at the clouds and the passing sun.
"Are you going to be alright here? Or you want to come back home with me? I probably need to go check up on Zoe," she said, sounding grown up for a moment.

Palahala smiled serenely at his sister. "Ill be fine here. I'll see you tonight before the sun sets." He sighed happily licking his sisters cheek gently. "Be careful going back on your own." His big brown doe like eyes smiled at his sister as he settled happily next to the fawn his ears flattening against his head.
Here he was at peace, he felt at home nestled amongst the herd. This was where he belonged even though his home and his family were behind him. he knew one day he would leave and join a herd. That was where he felt most comfortable, most safe.

"Okay brother...if you're sure," she said as she slowly got back up. Limbs a little stiff already from resting, she shook herself awake and then began on the route (or at least what she thought was the right way) home. She couldn't help herself looking back at Pala, almost constantly, to make sure he was still there.
"See you later brother," she called to him with love and then scampered off, her bony wings pinned close to her body.
