"well, if i can get a crew together i intend to, yes. Unfortunately i still need a gunnery crew and galley crew to be self-sufficient. Only Eli, the previous gunnery commander has agreed to stay on and he excellent shot" He shifts his weight and leans against a crate. "She is still a bit beat up, but she can fight"

"If all you're waiting for is able hands, I can provide clanks*. In return, all I need is the transport of some small amount of cargo. I don't feel safe bringing it with me on the Flapdoodle, because there is a passenger on that vessel I do not trust."
(* Clanks - autonomous machines. As used in the Girl Genius comics. Love that word. 3nodding )

Daniels eyebrows raise, "Clanks huh? those would do nicely to fill in for a crew. be handy in a fight should it come to that. they would fit in nicely here."
He stands up off the crate. "I don't mind carrying cargo for you, theres plenty of space aboard. and plenty of places to hide it if need be. but who is this person? does he or she have anyone who might have followed you here?"
Daniel thumps his chest with a gloved hand, producing a sound like knocking on wood. "you have my word that it wont be messed with. i believe there was a lockable storage block in the captains cabin that would work. blasted thing is as strong as a bank vault. i could use one of the clanks as a guard if thats ok? How many clanks can this cargo be worth? should I know what it is ill be carrying?"

"Oh no, he wouldn't have had me followed. He's just a personal relation of mine. The items in question are of a personal sentimental value, and I'd rather he not tamper with them. You know how family can be, I'm sure. I can provide you with a dozen clanks. Would that be sufficient to crew your vessel?"

"Unfortunately, i was raised by my grandfather a military airbase since i was a baby. But a dozen clanks! that would provide enough to cover my gunnery crew and fighters and have some left over for the ship." Daniel extends his gloved hand, "It's a deal. I'll clean out some space in the captains storage block. I promise nobody will get into your cargo." Daniel grins, "I'm sure Eli will be thrilled to have a crew under his command again."

She takes his hand lightly with a polite nod. "I'll have them shipped immediately. My name, by the by, is Sylvian Bruno."

Daniel gently engulfs her hand with his and bows over it, in an attempt at being a gentleman (Grandpa always taught manners) "Daniel Montoya, pleasure doing business with you. I'll be sure that no harm befalls your belongings. do you know when the Flapdoodle sails? I haven't had any solid contact with the captain, just one of his messengers"

"Thrilled perhaps is not the most appropriate word" This voice came from the smartly dressed figure of a man who had just come upon deck. He would not have seemed amiss at the grandest of dinner parties as far as appearances went, save for the brace of guns he carried and the mask obscuring half his face, as well as one of his eyes. Sunlight glinted of the lens covering this eye. As well as his pistols, he carried a parasol, as though shy of the sun. "Thankful, yes, and very much so for it is...good to have a crew once more, my old one up and left along with the Captain, but I cannot help but prefer a slightly more human crew beneath me. Though do not get me wrong, as I said, I am very grateful for their service my good lady. I am Brigadier Elliott, Gunner Commander of this fine vessel, and at your service." This last sentence was accompanied with as much of a floruish as the parasol's use allowed.

"Indeed. A mechanical crew is necessarily inferior to one of flesh and blood, for the simple fact that men generally fuel, maintain, and repair themselves. But preferable to no crew at all."
Turning back to Daniel, "There seems to be some delay with the Flapdoodle. Of course as a passenger I'm not privy to the finer details of these sorts of things, so you'd have to get in touch with the captain himself, I imagine."

Daniel says nothing, and absently rubs his arm. He never could get over peoples distrust of machines, especialy as he was part machine himself, but he kept quiet.
"I'll have to pay The Flapdoodles Captain a visit and find out the scheduling." his usual smile is now strained a bit. He reaches into his satchel and pulls out a can of oil and takes a draught.
Daniel clears his throat and says To Elliot, "I know they aren't as easy to maintain as people, but clanks do have their uses. Perhaps our new mechanic will enjoy them more"

The man with half a face laughed, perhaps surprisingly normally. "Perhaps she shall. As a mechanic such is to expected after all. So long a they are well repaired and functioning well I shall no complain. I guess I just know how people work a bit better. Still, I should look on the bright side; Clanks don't get drunk." Eli turned as if to go back down below decks, but then pused and looked back. With the sun no longer on the lens, through the glass an eye could be made out...just. "Actually, I think I should go and meet out new mechanic now Captain*, I'm afraid I must admit to having overheard her earlier." He paused once more. "Unless of course you would prefer me to accompany you to the Flapdoodle?"
[OOC: *His mistake, not mine, going on the roster at least]

"I can handle it alone, but thanks for the offer. oh and im not... well never mind it can wait till later. Be careful around the mechanic though" Daniel grins, "You strike me as a bit of a lady killer Elliott. She may or may not take kindly to that kind of behavior. She lugs around a sledge hammer like it was a parasol."
"let me stow the extra stuff out here back in the ship, then ill go see the Flapdoodles captain."
To Ms. Bruno, "When can we expect the clanks and your cargo to arrive? I'd like to be here to help get things settled."

He half smiled and retreated below deck.

"They will be here by noon. I'll go and inform the warehouse staff to prepare the carts. I bid you good day, sirs." And then with another polite nod, she turns and walks briskly towards the warehouse district.

Daniel groans and proceeds to bang his head repeatedly against one of the mooring pillars.
"daft, daft, daft!" he grumbles as he rubs his head. "excellent first impression moron, *sigh* I'll have to apologize to Elliott later. First i need to clear the cargo back into the Khaos, then see the Flapdoodles captain."
Daniel hurries to stow the crates he pulled out for cleaning and heads out for the HMS Flapdoodle.
..........................
A little while later, He returns disappointed. "Great, the Captain wont be flying anytime soon, maybe i should escort Ms. Bruno myself? Perhaps a small ferry job would be an ok start for us."
He ponders to himself, "I wonder how many people we could transport? I'd have to clean out a bunch of the cabins though, their all full of stuff left over from the last crew. Most of it wasn't garbage, but kinda useless stuff for anyone 'cept a spark*. Could Our Mechanic use that stuff for cabin decor maybe?." Climbing up the gangway to the deck of the Khaos, he heads below deck in search of Elliott.
(*Spark- from the Girl Genius comic- someone with natural talents with machinery allowing them to build almost anything from anything. Generally considered mad scientists as they tend to do rather crazy stuff with their talents)
