David couldn't help but refrain himself from emitting a soft chuckle at Josh's response, "Wouldn't doubt that she avoids mentioning me... And the pleasure's mine, Josh."

An acquaintance is what the man finally filed Josh's information under: Femininely featured but an obvious athlete, brunette, male. Nothing even mildly intimidating about this kid, thank god. Or if there was some mysterious piercing or tattoo, David thanked the gods even more that it was impossible to see it. A sense of confidence and ease returned to him, especially when he caught sight of Anita patting his coat so appreciatively. Though complete strangers, David couldn't help but smile under his cloak of shadows, caring not if anyone could see it or not, for he was content with his assumption that both of these strangers were about as harmful as a pair of newborn pups. ..Anita, perhaps, being just as cute as one.

"Anita," he sang. "Lovely name. And -chuckle- no, unfortunately. I have not had the luck to be trapped in an elevator. But... There's a first time for everything right?"

Then David seemed to break out into a hearty laughter, seemingly at some secret joke of his, before continuing cheerfully,

"I especially don't mind this particular scenario. I mean, sorry for my boldness but, how many guys get lucky enough to be stuck in an elevator shaft with a cute girl such as yourself?"

Josh didn’t even have the slightest inkling that while he chatted up the man next to him, his image was secretly being filed away in David’s mind. Somewhere deep in he other’s subconscious, next to the bulging stalker file under the label of womanly unintimidating sports nerd…. Josh should be glad that he couldn’t read minds.

Josh could sense the crushing pressure of the situation lifted off of his shoulders when David started to warm up the area with a snarky and charismatic presence. Even if the elevator could afford to cool down a few degrees instead. Josh could already feel the damp air clinging awkwardly to his skin. “Lovely meeting you Ani- I hope you don’t mind me calling you that. I can’t say that I have been trapped in an elevator. Nor can I say that I ever wanted to be. I’m glad that I am stuck in here with such charming people though.” Another flash of a mischievous smile.

Compliments. And ones she wasn't very much liking at this point in time. Given a normal situation, she would probably have giggled awkwardly, but for now she was quite grateful for the lack of lightning as her face had turned rather disgusted. Temperatures above seventy did this to her, as well, it was just a number of outside things bothering her that caused such a reaction to David speaking in such a way. Again, though, she took into account that they would probably be stuck in here together for at least a while longer, and so she let out a faint chuckle that sounded real enough, and then turned to glance at Josh.

Yes. Finally. Some one who just called her Ani right off the bat, without her even asking for it. Awesome. "N-no, not at all. That's perfect..." Anita. It sounded quite fancy to her and she wasn't exceptionally pleased. Pretty as it was, she didn't consider herself such, and thus not fitting. Ani was far more casual, just like her.

To her liking, as well, Josh didn't single her out in the compliment, though she wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic, either, from the 'charming' comment. Good God she wanted some snacks. Crackers. Cheetos. A sip of some damn sod. She didn't care, but her stomach was aching for something to be inside it, and now it was beginning to voice its complaints with quiet, whirling squeaks.

"...Do you guys live here?"

"In this apartment? No," David stated matter-of-factly, feeling himself slowly lose his pleasant demeanor once again, though he really had no idea why he was feeling so easily irritable. That is until he realized the sensation he was feeling so terribly amongst his companions: disgust. The increasing heat within their chamber hadn't rubbed the man the wrong way before, since he preferred hot to cold, but now..It was just becoming start up muggy. Though he could barely make it out, David glanced down at where he imagined his coat to be at Anita's feet and frowned, So much for that idea.

But, attempting to restrain his complaints, he just kept smiling within the darkness and continued the conversation, hoping that neither stranger could hear the growing mix of tiredness and discomfort in his voice, "But I do live in Durem. I live in another complex a few minute away from here, but a friend told me about the deals here, so I decided to check it out." Any fancy phrases and sophisticated words were now lost. David was growing incredibly uncomfortable, but all he felt was appropriate was to loosen his tie and roll up his sleeves. They had better get rescued. And they had better get rescued fast.

Josh sighed restlessly and shifted his weight around so he could set his back on the cool face of the glass mirror behind him. The air in the elevator was becoming downright unbearable. It was as if you could feel the moisture dripping out of the space around them. Or perhaps that was the thin trickle of sweat sliding down Josh’s neck. He unceremoniously took a corner of his shirt and patted at the slight dampness forming on his face. He was glad that the two probably couldn’t see him. Well, he hoped that they couldn’t see him ruining his favorite shirt with sweat. Josh cleared his throat trying to mask any discomfort in his voice, “Nah, I don’t live here. I was visiting a friend’s house. He just got a PS3 so we were having a gaming day and hanging out.”

He leaned his head on the glass behind him trying to give the frigid outside more access to his flushed face. “So what were you two doing here?” He hoped his question wasn’t to intrusive.

(( Suddenly back to mah normal font! o_9 ))

She nodded, not quite hanging onto all of David's words, but the important ones that really answered her question. 'No. Durem. Another complex.' Fair enough. As she listened to Josh's small explanation, though, a smile tugged onto her face, widening more and more as she heard him utter each of those three syllables.

Pee. Ess. Three.

"Oh that's so funny," she chuckled, leaning herself back against the wall and shuddering a bit as the bare skin of her lower back made contact with the cool wall. Oh so refreshing.. "I was just at my friend's place, too. He actually just got a 360, and we were trying that out. I'm really liking how everything looks on it. We just got finished with Portal, actually. One straight play through. God I love that game.."

Finally some passion in her tone? Oh you bet. Now that she knew at least one of the two present in the elevator had something in common with her, especially that topic, she was quite ready to lose a bit of her tenseness that she had shown earlier. Now if only David would stop flirting... it was really surprising to her that she was catching it, usually she was quite oblivious to such things when directed at her (or anyone, for that matter), but when some one outright calls you a 'cute girl', that's a bit of a warning flag.

The young man flinched at the sudden casual shift of topics, unsure whether or not he should enter the new discussion of...games. They were his babies, he loved them so much, but. For some reason, he hated discussing them with other people besides the random users he conversed with online. Well...these two were technically strangers... It was dark, so it was fairly difficult to read each other's expressions anyways... David bit his lower lip in uncertainty, for once, truly hesitating about something so trivial. One second, two seconds, three seconds. Time ticked away slowly, in David's mind, as the other, younger prisoners continued to talk lightly about their systems and how much they loved this and that. Finally, deciding to take the plunge, David whispered a surrendering sigh and attempted his best at taking a small position in the conversation.

"I--" he choked nervously, shifting his body weight so more of his neck and shoulders were able to touch the cool surface behind him, before stumbling forward, "I..recently purchased a Wii and the ever enjoyable..Super Smash Bros. Brawl. ...-he felt his cheeks turn a light pink and THANK GOD, no one could see it- I. I love beating my sister using characters like Pikachu or Princess Peach. ..Frustrates her to no end."

Josh’s voice climbed in octaves and passion just like Ani’s. He had already began to spew out lighthearted chatter with the girl. Josh sounded much more like a giddy schoolgirl conversing her numerous crushes than a boy discussing the fine details of gaming. His tone was soaked with enthusiasm and his words gushed out excitedly, “Wow! I have never played that particular game before, but I have heard good things about it. Have you ever played Rock Band or Halo?” The boy had to inquire. He loved the thrill accompanied with multiplayer games. It was almost as intoxicating as the feeling of a rousing set of team sport. There was just something more gripping when you had someone next to you playing along… and it was much more convenient to casually disconnect a controller and go in for a winning blow during a fighting game.

He almost was too caught up in his own prattling with Ani to hear the faint squeak of words that David chirped at them. Josh could sense the anxiousness edging his quiet proclamation. He gave a muffled laugh, “My favorite character on Super Smash Brothers would be Kirby,” Josh grinned against the darkness shrouding them, “What kind of characters does Namini use?”

Through all of their eager chatter, suffice to say she was quite taken aback when the older man added to the conversation with a game she also quite couldn't get enough of. Brawl. She had a few favorite characters, yes she did, and they were frankly all over the map in terms of weights and attacks. One for nearly every situation, she figured.

She let them speak, and waited until David had answered Josh's question before adding in her own choices of character selection: "Snake, Link, ROB, and I'm okay at Lucario and Wolf."

Surprising, this situation really was. Stuck in an elevator, all of them having one huge thing in common with one another: Games.

To be blunt, despite all of the muggy heat and initial irritation, this actually wasn't turning out so bad. In her mind, anyway.

This boy... David, appreciative of the heated shadows, felt his hands close and open tightly, anxiously, his piercing eyes hopefully searing their mark into Josh's face. He kept asking about his sister, and so the incredibly thick protectiveness that resided in the older male was becoming harder and harder to restrain. ...Plus, like some kind of computer virus, suspicious pop ups were appearing all over David's mind, again sparking the idea that this ..Josh was more than a mere aquaintance, friend, boy-thing. But falling into the accusation-tranquility pattern, David felt his hand open slowly once more, seemingly releasing the preyed notions that flooded the brother's mind and continued confidently once again,

"Lucario is another I play on and off. I mean, pretty badass pokemon, if you ask me. Namini , ironically enough, plays the majority of the male characters, her absolute favorites being Ike and Marth from Fire Emblem. Occasionally she'll play Princess Zelda, but again, she seems to find the male characters to be stronger. And answering the question that I believe was directed at Anita, sorry for my intervening, but... -he smirked and his tone seemed to become a little more upbeat and excited- I own at Halo. Favorite equip?"

Alongside this excited facade, David continued to wish that either the temperature dropped a few degrees or the rescue team showed up soon.

The conversation seemed to send all thoughts of the muggy condition of the elevator to the back of Josh’s mind. Even as the temperature steadily climbed, it felt like a lovely Spring day to the boy. He was too concerned with the topic at hand to notice anything else.

For now, David had regained Josh’s attention. He murmured to the young man next to him, “Wow, I wouldn’t expect her to like those kinds of characters…” He noted her interests and stuffed them away in a musty folder somewhere in his mind. It was not as if he was interested in Namini, he just felt that it would be smart to know certain things about his acquaintances.

Josh didn’t pick up on David’s fleeting anger in the slightest. It was just like a brief rain or a passing storm, nothing to be alarmed about. He continued on, “So you think you own at Halo? You haven’t played me yet,” There was a tinge of cockiness in the boy’s voice, “My favorite equip would be the energy sword. I love getting into close combat.” Josh accompanied his statement with a smug grin.

Lost in all of the conversation, the humidity of the elevator was no longer troublesome. She continuously gained mental images of all of them playing whatever different games they spoke of at the given time at a group gathering of some kind, probably at her house as that was the first location to spring into mental existence.

"I'm not very good at Halo.." she chuckled slightly, as this might have been obvious, "But I've got to say I like the sword, as well. Needlers, back when you could dual wield them, those were my favorite. I'm really surprised they decided to overpower that one in Three.

Of course, she never experienced any of Halo 3 unless she was, specifically, at dear Teddy's home like she was today, as he had the 360 and she did not. Often times she wanted to steal the thing for single player games, such as BioShock, Condemned, and Fear, and then other times she was quite pleased with all of her older systems, especially her Nintendo 64, but oh yes, the SNES as well.

Anita hadn't the slightest idea of the animosity going on in David's mind towards Josh, though she did notice he stiffened slightly whenever the latter spoke up about his sister. For a moment she wondered how close of friends they were for him to not even realize she had a brother, and even more so to never have met him, but she pushed that thought away quickly as she realized neither of them were under the age of eighteen (she assumed), and so they were probably out of the house, living on their own.

While she let the chatter continue, she paused briefly in her responses, wondering if it would be prudent to ask for either of their numbers or addresses to perhaps set up such a gaming event as she had previously been imagining.

She took the plunge, removing her cell phone from the bag again, checking only briefly to see if there had been a response call--there hadn't.

"Do, um... you guys mind me getting your numbers..? I think it'd be fun to set up a game day, since we seem to be okay with each other.." Perhaps she was wrong on that, but at the very least they both seemed to be okay with her.

Regaining an outwardly casual composure, inwardly, David suddenly realized the unstable levels of anger and suspicion that had become concentrated on Josh and felt a tang of remorse, knowing full well that he needed to ,once again, recognize how tightly bound he kept his sister and the fact that he couldn't control who she was friends with. With this thought in mind, the older Nao brother therefore forced his temper to leave him, giving Josh a clean slate. ..for now. David, knowing himself a little too well, sighed heavily as he knew that one day, he'd meet up with this boy again and something would push his protective anger over the edge. But continuing on with the conversation at hand, David remained performing his pleasant demeanor,

"Oh ho, so you two enjoy the energy sword hm? Now from Halo 3, my favorite weapon would be either the heavy machine gun turret, despite its disadvantages, or the traditional Sniper Rifle. -a slight snicker- I get my sister to play sometimes when I have the guys over and god. I guess she finds ways to practice when I'm not around but she's insanely good at the new spartan laser. This is why we do rock-paper-scissors now to decide who gets her. We're both long range types so..yeah, when I win, the other team has lost before the battle's started."

He broke out into a lighthearted chuckle, recalling the numerous occasions in which cursing and giggly screams echoed throughout the small apartment, then followed by excitement reenactments and pizza. Ah. Good times... David's attention was brought back to reality though at a question he was all too familiar with.

"Of course you can have my contact info. But," he purred. "Only if I can get yours as well."

The flirt in him never seemed to give up hope.

David’s tale of epic battles and courageous exploits made Josh think of his own experiences with Halo. He recalled the feeling of an ongoing game of co-op mode stretching into the wee hours of the morning, his friends and himself only powered by adrenaline and the after affects of five or so red bulls. The boy was already tingling from excitement… or perhaps that was his legs falling asleep? Josh listened casually to David as he stretched out repositioning his legs in front of himself like two straight boards. He felt blood returning to the two appendages and sighed contently. How long had the been in here exactly?

He looked over to Ani when she spoke up and his words exploded forth instantaneously before he would bridle down any of his exhilaration, “Sure!” Josh was always willing to exchange number with his acquaintances and gain new contacts. Plus, it might entail a future gaming day between the three. He dug into his pocket and once again removed his petite orange cell phone from his pocket. He flipped it open and set up a new contacts page for the girl. He waited patiently for her to read off her number to him. When that was over, he piped up and rattled off his own number, “Umm, my cell is 1-850-***-****.” The boy next turned to David and awaited his number, cell phone erect, ready to take down the digits greedily.

The two male's excitement rivaled her own, and she found herself going into her Phone Information section to find the number and recite it to them. This time, she had ignored David's quite blatant flirtatious tone, deciding it best not to spoil a possible gamer relationship with her complaining about such things. If she wasn't receptive to it, perhaps he would catch on. He seemed smart enough.

She was never good at remembering her cell number, it wasn't something she usually needed to know, as exchanging numbers was a very rare occurrence with her. Once she listed it off she quickly thumbed back to her Contacts area, making two new ones for Josh and David.

It really had been a while since she last put anyone's number in, as her phone typing skills seemed to have died down a bit. Texting, as well, wasn't a very common thing.

As far as how long the three of them had actually been in there, she guesstimated some where between twenty minutes to maybe an hour. The initial annoyance stage had taken quite a bit of time in comparison to their jovial discussions, but then again, time always did fly when you were enjoying yourself, so there was a distinct possibility it had actually been a bit longer. If that was the case, it only served to fuel her worrying once again after she closed her phone. Where were the staff? Why hadn't they received any assistance yet? And why the bloody hell was Theodore being an a** and not calling her back?

All questions that seemed to not have a single answer.

"Okay.." she nestled her phone back into the bag, hearing the light plunking as it nudged against her lovely cartridges, "So maybe I'll call you guys next week or something. I'm still settling in, so until then something at my house wouldn't be very fun.."
