well then, shall we begin brain storming?

My Idea is a 2 hour action rpg. (mayby mr.mo's sbabs)

as a opening project I say a action oriented game because that seems to draw more people (from what I've seen anyway)

I realized that we are quite limited so I guess rtp style. There are the most resourses for that style.

only custom thing we'd really need is sprites and thats fairly easy.

the really cool thing for this potential project would be the story. So... we should probaly find a writer. I mentioned a story earlier bt no one seemed to have noticed.... crying

um and if we need more space out side of the guild we can use mines since I dont really need it.

I think it was said before but if we get a good game out then im sure avtivity would boost.

Well, we can afford to get more subforums, since we had a lot of money donated, and we wouldn't really need more space than a subforum as long as we had people talking through MSN or some other means on a regular basis too.

Before all of this, we still need a name. What good does a full release do us for activity, if noone knows where it came from.

I agree, RTP would be best. However, we shouldn't limit ourselves. We can modify the RTP, and add some flair to it at the very least.

Well, I think before a name, we need some kinda of basic plot/story. whee But I'm the kind of person who always has a story before a name, that's just how my mind does things.

I also think RTP would be the best, but not as is, that's a bit dull if you just leave it as it is, as Apples said.

And as for finding a writer, we can all just come up with ideas and pick out the best ones that work together, and maybe one of us will be able to work them all into a basic story.

Well, before we start sharing story ideas, we should figure out a basic setting.
Is it going to be futuristic, a typical fantasy, modern, etc.?
That way we don't get several different types of story. xd

So, so true. I always go with your run of the mill fantasy, I didn't even think about anything else. lol

Alright, so first (until someone mentions something that goes before this), suggest settings!

You already know my vote (regular fantasy), what does everyone else think?

A modern game would be fine, but likely run into issues with available resources. Even with that, i still prefer fantasy.

By name, i meant team name. (or something other than "the RPG Maker Guild presents ~game name~).

As for the story, it'd work to call in variable pieces and ideas that people submit, but i think we need a basic outline first. World and setting, heroes and enemies, and what unites them. Y'know, the RPG stuff.

Pretty easy though. Only thing to do is make some new material, right?

Like falling off a bike. Except when you get pissed and send it flying down the street.

Honestly, half the people who posted in the last one aren't active here anymore, so it's best to start from scratch again anyways, in my opinion.

I read through your "story outline" its a nice basic story, however it seems to be really repeptetive XD.

if its okay Id like to be put down as someone who could work on the story XD since I know nothing about RPG maker/game maker/eclipse and I do know story telling XP. but yeah, on a setting if you go with fantasy then it could still follow the Futuristic thing he was wanting, if you go with modern then theres probably the most "wiggle" room for adaptation, and interpretation, via the members of the design/production/creation team.

and if doing a group project I think its best to remember that above all else we must keep a nice friendly work environment, no one likes to hear "oh you idea is crap, it doesnt even have a basis of..." if you dont like someone's idea then you should make note of it and using logic and of course "niceties" tell them what you didnt like. so instead of the above wording you could say "thats a good idea, however I didnt quite like the idea about the ...., mainly because it...., and that would lead towards...." but remember nice not jerky XP

Well, if we go for a modern style, it'd be easy with a graphics team. But the question is, do we have any artist, and do they have enough free time to meet the demands of making the graphics for a modern style game?

If we even have enough people to run a graphics segment in the team, depending on their skill, time, and durability, we'd need to readjust the rest of the team to work around them. While graphics in the finished product are just eyecandy, while making the game, their quite important, and would cause problems to implement them after the completed product.

Forgot where i was going with that spill, but whatever.

As for the last bit, spare the fire, not the dart. ~_^

Of course, people will have to be nice and cooperate with each other. If someone is just causing trouble and not respecting others on the project, well, we'd deal with that then. But when any people work together on something, they should know that things won't always go their way, and they do have to be respectful of the other people working with them.

I also think a modern setting might be a bit hard, especially for the graphics, and it doesn't seem like we have a lot of people (that I've noticed) that do a lot for graphic work, so it would put a big workload on the shoulders of the people who are capable. That's just how I see it, anyways.
