The cat girl considered it for a moment, before deciding 'species' was the best word she could come up with. She could always ask her father what species he was later. Jahzara sniffed the air for a moment, smelling the mixture of heat and food, nodding to Carlisle. "I like casserole," she said, thinking of the tuna stuff her dad had made her once. "It's really good with the right sauces." It didn't occur to her that their idea of casseroles could be different, but a lot didn't occur to the girl in regards to others.
Swishing her tail, ignoring the threatening pains in her stomach from the tasty smelling air, Jahzara turned her candy tangerine eyes over the boy at her side, curious. "Have you met a lot of children like us, Carlisle? I've only met a few. And Harper is gone." Her ears lowered a bit, eyes dimming in the slightest. "I'm glad you recognized me though! I didn't think I'd get to see you again!"

"That's good," Carlisle said cheerfully. "'Cause if I'm right, Sugita-san made a casserole too. She's a good cook."
At her question, he tilted his head. "A few. Mostly girls. Sometimes I get mistaken for a girl." The last was said with a bit of consternation, as if he couldn't understand why. He knew he was a boy. "I know Melchy, and you, and Wisp, and Ophelia, and Kaimi, and Nataya," he listed, ticking them off on his fingers. He was pretty sure he knew more people- Merroth came to mind- but he couldn't or didn't want to remember them. "I like you the best, though."
Sugita-san peeked out of the kitchen, carrying a stack of plates. Two baskets- silverware, by which Carlisle confirmed they were definitely eating vegetarian today- rested on top of the stack. She set it down. "Set the table, please," said the woman as she pushed her glasses up her nose. "And behave, Carlisle. No napkin art today." He nodded, a little embarrassed, and started to set out plates at each table setting.
