He looked over to Scyeth at his first comment, quiet for a moment. RuiZhi closed his notes, putting the pad on his lap. He stared at it for a while, before commenting, "I'm glad you weren't. It was not a pleasant time, for any of us." At least two of the people who went still bore scars from the incident; had Scyeth been there, the Chinese youth had no doubt that he would have gotten involved and had a few of his own.
RuiZhi blinked, glancing up at the clock. Time flies when you're having fun, apparently. "Homework? I'm not sure," he replied honestly at length, "I didn't need to take the class." He had the grace to look sheepish, fingers plucking at the pages of his notebook. "I just wanted to." The youth shrugged, pushing himself up and brushing out his jacket's tails.

Scyeth opened his mouth to argue, but quickly thought the better of it. There really were some sleeping dogs that were best left lying. He shrugged and rearranged himself, sitting next to RuiZhi. He finished off his own notes before finally looking over at his boyfriend. "I'll protect you," he said softly, firmly. He wasn't sure from what, or why he felt like he should say that, but he did. And he nodded, about to get up when Zhi informed him he didn't even need to be there.
He blinked a few times and the Aussie gave the Chinese student a funny look. Huh. It looked like RuiZhi was full of surprises. Scyeth smiled to himself and shook his head. Full of surprises indeed.

The young man paused again, looking back to Scyeth. His lips twitched in an unusual smile; it was one of admiration and trust. "I know you will," he replied softly, extending his hand to the blonde. RuiZhi truly did admire the Aussie, for all his outlandish attire and bold look on life...he was a good guy. His heart was in the right place, and for that, the Chinese boy adored him even more.
"Come on," he tilted his head towards the door, "you have a lot of notes to take!"
