"I... he.. we... " Kalawai stuttered for a moment, feeling even more confused. The strange god's question was something she'd never really thought of before. In fact, it was something she hadn't really known about. And with a simple question, she was left feeling more helpless than a cub, simply staring at her friend and wondering how she couldn't have once considered such a thing.
Majoka heard the confusion and hurt as his best friend in the world tried to find an answer to that awful question. Turning quickly to nose her shoulder, he considered it himself. He'd never really expected Kalawai to stay with him for the rest of their lives. At least, not after she'd left him to mature. The fact that she'd stayed for days with him this time only meant that she'd had the luxury and time to do so. If there'd been something that had demanded her attention to her job, he knew she'd have left quickly. And this time he would have understood her need to go.
"It.. it would be very wrong of me to make her stay with me," he began quietly. "She has a job to do and she needs to do it. And we'll be friends no matter what happens. Old age doesn't change that."

So they were obviously idiotic young souls that never thought about the next day. Dath growled softly. Feh! He'd show them. Who else was supposed to teach them that the world wasn't nice, no matter what you did? The god grew irrtated, quite quickly, and decided that he'd just have to show them himself!
Besides, it was time for a little fun, wasn't it?
Chaos was obviously loosing control of his mind. His thoughts for the two were conflicting, not making much sense, and only brought anger and irritation to the god.
"A job? We merely live to mess with mortals, nothing more." He flicked his tail, a glare shot at this male. "If you're so keen on job, well, let me do my job, then." A wicked grin grew across his face. I twas obvious that he was going to do something, soon.

Shaking off her upset, Kalawai quickly moved in front of Majoka. After all, she had magic, he didn't. Spreading her wings and hissing, she backed up, forcing Majoka to move with her. She didn't know what this one's job was, but she did not like the glare he'd leveled on her friend, nor the grin that had spread across his face.
"Perhaps YOU live to 'mess with mortals'," she spat, "but I do not!"
Majoka blinked, gold eyes going wide in surprise as the other male spoke. The grew even wider when Kala leapt in front of him and began to hiss. He'd never seen her like this before and it frightened him. The only thing more frightening was the way the river seemed to be acting with her, making it easier for them to reach the opposite bank. Whimpering slightly, he suddenly felt like a little lost cub again.

Oh, what disappointment! He wasn't going to put up a fight, was he? So much for friends. Having to depend on a god, a female as well, to save him? Disgusted, the good took one step forward, his paw in the water as he slowly made his way towards them. He'd go slow at first, but soon they wouldn't even realize what had happened to them.
"Oh? Then what is your job?" He didn't know what her domain was, but it didn't matter. He could get the upperhand as long as he was one step in front of her.
"Mine's something that you proably won't like."

"Why should i answer when simple observation will grant you the answer to that," she snarled. It didn't take much concentration, but she could feel the river elements reacting. The little fish would be useless... and the reeds were too tiny, but she could and would call poisons up to eat at his flesh if he kept trying to cross. And if that didn't made him turn away, well, she had tetth and claws and was more than willing to use them!
Majoka bounded up to the opposite bank and turned to tug gently at Kalawai's wing edge.
"Don't fight him, Kala," he urged. "Let's just get away, please. Neither of us is strong enought o fight him!"

Dath continued his pace before pausing for a moment. An odd feeling crossed over him, though he couldn't explain where it had come from. Was it the goddess? Or was it something else?
When he had seen the male run to the other side of the river, his mind snapped. The prey was running! Prey wasn't allowed to run away from him unless he said so. And the red lion certainly hadn't asked.
With a snarl, he lept up, slipping a bit within the water as he pushed himself off of it's slimey ground. His main target now was the male, something that his mind screamed at him to get at. Not going to get away from Chaos!

Moving quickly, Kalawai leapt directly into the red god's path. Snarling, she lashjed out with bared claws, hoping that the god would at least pull back enough for her to get into a better position.
"We can't run, 'Joka," she hissed. "I'm not letting him hurt you!"
Majoka cowered as the red god dove after them, then forced himself to move. Kala wasn't big enough to hold her own against such an opponent. And she had a job to do. And fighting an angry god was not part of that job. For the first time in his short life, Majoka felt a need to fight. He had to protect his friend. Baring his teeth, he interposed himself between the two gods once more.

The god snarled as the goddess had thrown herself in the way. Blasted creature, he was going to deal with her later! Right now all his mind was concentrated on was that red lion.
When he had landed, he was expecting to attack the goddess before altering his route back to the lion. But the foolish boy had thrown his own self between them, obviously ready to attack. Perfect.
Dath reached out to swipe at the male, hopeful for a heavy blow like he had delt so many others before.

Yowling furiously as the red god aimed a blow at Majoka's head, Kalawai lunged over the red and gold lion and aimed her claws at the red god's eyes. She was not letting this crazed bully hurt her friend!
Majoka saw the blow falling too late. Doing his best to dodge, he still felt the god's paw connect with his skull, dazing him, making him dizzy. Shaking his head to try and clear it of the stars that seemed to be swarming his vision, he heard Kalawai scream angrily.

"Back, you!" he snarled, pushing away at the small goddess. He didn't want to deal with her now. Females were much weaker than males, and he wanted to take out this male before he actually gathered his wits to attack.
Dath felt the sting of her paws across his face, able to move just enough to avoid actual ontact on his eyes. Blasted female! All it did was fuel his anger towards the male. He was probably the source of all this, wasn't he?
Another growl, and he lunged at the dazed lion, hoping to knock him down on his feet so he could get to him easier. Hopefully that stupid female would leave him alone, or else she'd only fuel the fires for him to attack her more than he had originally intended.

Majoka felt himself hitting the ground, felt it as stones bruised his back and bits of vegetation opened up little cuts. Snapping his jaws together, he growled and flailed his paws about, hoping for a hit. And the fact that this god had stared to strike Kalawai drove Majoka to depths of anger he hadn't ever known he possessed. Surging up, hoping to lock his jaws on the god's leg, he snarled, "Don't touch her!"
Pushed away, Kala shook her head and yowled again, this time taking to the air and diving down at the back of the god. With luck, she would be able to catch the back of his neck in her teeth. She wasn't sure she could kill him, but she'd damned sure make him hurt!

Suffering through a few kicks, as well as a few more cuts on his face, the god tried to sink his teeth on one of those legs that struck him. If he was able to get his teeth into one of these deep enough, the blasted creature wouldn't be able to run away from him, only hobble at best. Then, hopefully and ideally, he'd be able to play with his prey before dealing the last blow. That was always the best thing he could do for himself. Maybe not so much for his prey, but that was because that's what they were.
Feeling the weight of the goddess on top of his back, the god shook a bit, using his large black wings to hopefully make her lose her balance and slip. It was awkard and probably wouldn't suceed, but he was more concentrated on the male than the goddess.
Another kick to the head, and the god swelled with frusteration. Fine! He let go of the lion, leaving him where he was to swirl around and try to snap at the goddess, to get her off of his back and deal with her. If she wanted to go first so badly, fine, he would grant her wish!

Majoka screamed as teeth sank into his own leg, then unaccountably let go. Tears poured from his eyes as he whimpered under his breath, slowly noticing that the god's weight had moved off of him. Blinking his eyes to clear them, he saw the god now focusing on an aloft Kala. Though... he had wings too and he was much heavier than she was. Pulling himself painfully to his feet, he swayed for a moment on his injured leg. Only... need one good shot, he thought as he forced himself to remain alert. He could feel his life bleeding away thanks tot he bite wounds on his leg. And if he had to die, he was going to make sure his dearest friend stayed safe. With an angry, rumbling roar, he dove at the god, jaws seeking for a way to wound the b*****d enough to let Kala escape even as his vision began to go dark...
Screaming in pain as teeth caught the edge of her wings, Kalawai fumbled in midair and came crashing to earth, her wounded wing bent at an odd angle under the weight of her small body. Gritting her teeth against the pain, she pulled herself halfway up, enough to glare defiance into the eyes of her attacker. And enough to see a red and gold blur attack from the side.
"Noooo!" she shrieked, knowing that Majoka had no chance of surviving such a rush, scrambling to somehow prevent what she knew was about to happen.

Dath hadn't paid much attention to the male as he had begun to turn his attention to the goddess. He had been going in towards her, as she was obviously unable to go after him in the same way that she had before, until she saw the look on her face. With that yell, she betrayed exactly what was going to happen.
He quickly braced for the attack, knowing that it was coming. As soon as he felt the attack begin, he turned to face the red male again, noticing for a split moment that he wasn't as strong as he was before, even if there was a firey passion within him. Pity, he didn't have much life to put in a very good fight, but it was fun while it lasted.
The god swiped at the head again, knowing that if the red lion was knocked out he would just bleed to death. The matter was just trying to actually hit him, and keep the goddess away.

Majoka dimly felt the huge paw connect with his head, snapping his neck as he fell heavily to the ground. Before his vision went completely, he stared at Kalawai with pity. He wanted to apologize for not keeping her safe and he wanted her to know that this wasn't her fault, but his tongue and throat didnt' seem to want to work anymore. He sighed softly as the darkness crept up and cradled him even as it enveloped him.
Kalawai watched in horror as her childhood friend was struck down, never to rise again. With a berserk scream, she scrambled to reach his side, flailing wildly with her claws. She just had to reach him before the ligth died completely in his eyes. She had to apologize.
