Kaimi's fingers mimed Delilah's, sketching out the tiny size. "Only this big?" She pondered the thought, thinking this through. "How do you catch them, if they're so tiny?" Kaimi didn't actually have any experience in catching things, but she was aware of the idea of butterfly nets. Sort of... Naomi liked to mix soap and water and then dip butterfly and fishing nets in the mixture to make big bubbles.

"You catch them like this!" Delilah suddenly took both hands and clapped them around empty air, careful to keep them cupped as if she was afraid to crush whatever was inside. The move was surprising and Kova blinked at how cheerful and talkative her daughter was being. Not to mention how much she was moving. Oblivious to her mother's shock, Delilah smiled and held out her cupped hands for Kaimi's inspection. "You have to be careful you don't smoosh them and you can't keep opening your hands or they fly away. They blink on and off even if you have them caught," she explained."

Leaning forward, the little girl peered into Delilah's cupped hands, half expecting to see something magical inside. She blinked a little, then clapped her hands together as well, keeping them cupped with effort. "Like this?" Kaimi asked hopefully.

Delilah beamed approvingly and then, impulsively, slid from her chair to hug the little girl. She pressed her temple against Kaimi's and looked at the small cupped hands. "You've got it. Would you like to catch lightning bugs with me sometime?"

Kaimi beamed back, looking at her own chubby little hands cupped around the mysterious imaginary bug, then she twined her hands around Delilah's neck and hugged back, enveloping them both in a strong cloud of scent. "I'd like that a lot!" She whispered in the other girl's ear.

"Mama?"

Kova smiled indulgently, clearly delighted by Kaimi and how well she was working her way under Delilah's skin. "If her mama says it's okay, we can do a bug hunt in the park. I'll bring her a cage, too."

Squirming around in Kaimi's grip until she could look over at the other table, Delilah offered her prettiest smile. "May she go catching lightning bugs with us, ma'am?"

Naomi, who had been amusedly monitoring the conversation from behind her medical journal, smiled brightly at the other three. Most especially at the bright, excited pleading in her daughter's eyes. "Of course she may." Deciding it was probably time to be sociable, she made her way to the other table. "I'm Naomi. It's very nice to meet you both."

Kaimi, for her part, let out a happy squeal at her mother's permission and couldn't help but jump up and down a little.

Kova held out her hand with a brilliant smile. "I'm Kova and, obviously, this is my little Delilah. It's a pleasure to meet you." She laughed. "It looks like Kaimi is the sort to keep you running hard."

Delilah reached out to squeeze Kaimi's hand and nodded. "Maybe you can sleep over," she whispered. "I'll let you meet my Uncle Kiet."

Naomi reached out and shook Kova's hand, smiling. "Yes, she's got quite a bit of energy" she laughed. "Delilah is a lovely young lady." She looked at the two girls, now whispering secrets to one another. "Maybe she'll be a good influence on Kaimi. One can always hope..."

Kaimi grinned. "I dont have any uncles. Just Naomi. I'd like to meet your uncle! That would be fun." She'd never been to a sleepover. She didn't exactly know what it involved, but it sounded like something nice. Then again, Delilah could suggest swallowing live scorpions and Kaimi would likely think it a brilliant idea at this point.

"He has a tail like Mama but it looks different." Delilah sat back in her chair with a little satisfied smile and folded her hands atop her lap. She seemed to be recovering at least a portion of her ladylike behavior. Perhaps it was Naomi's implicit approval. "We can make cookies, too," she offered.

Kova laughed. "We'll see. Delly's got a mind of her own. Your little Kaimi seems like a fun kid."

"I like cookies." Kaimi agreed, smiling. Trying to be like Delilah, she sat primly and folded her hands in her lap as well, though she craned her neck a bit at the other girl to make sure she was doing it right. "I wish I had a tail." She added, "Then I could always tell when I was happy." She beamed at this revelation, feeling clever for making such grown up conversation.

Naomi gaped a bit at Kaimi, who she'd never seen to sit so still and ladylike. She smothered a mirthful laugh and grinned at Kova. "Kaimi is fun, just hard to keep up with." She pulled a business card from her pocket and handed it to the other woman. "This is our number, by the way. You or Delilah are welcome to call any time."

Kova took the card and studied it with a smile. "Thank you. I don't have one but..." She drew a napkin towards her and, finding a pen in her cavernous bag, she began scribbling a set of numbers on it.

"You don't need a tail for that," Delilah reassured Kaimi. "Though a lot of people have tails. I don't have a tail. I don't need it." She smiled prettily. "See?" she asked. "Smiling tells people you're happy."

Naomi took the napkin and folded it carefully, slipping it into her pocket like a precious treasure. "I really would like it if our girls got the chance to spend time together." She said sincerely. "I've never seen Kaimi sit still like that. It's... amazing." Smiling a little, she joked, "Delilah isn't exerting some sort of zombie mind control on her, is she?"

Kaimi gave Delilah a smile so big she thought she might break her mouth. Delilah didn't have a tail, so she figured it was okay she didnt have one either.

"Very nice," Delilah said approvingly. "Being happy is important."

Kova looked at the other woman with wide brown eyes. "I hope not," she said seriously. "It's bad enough she talks to plants and they do funny things. I'd rather she not have zombie powers, too!"

Naomi chuckled a little. Despite her native status as an earthling, she was becoming accustomed to Gaians and their often unbelievable abilities and appearances. Idly she wondered wether or not Kaimi would start doing odd and inexplicable things. Her kid was already inexplicable enough without adding magic powers in there. "Well, either way, they do seem to be getting along." She said. Her eyes flicked to the clock on the opposite wall. "Oh goodness... is that the time? We're going to be late..." She smiled apologetically. "Mommy and me swimming class" Naomi explained.

"I got floaty wings!" Kaimi chimed in, looking very proud of this fact. She beamed at Delilah. "An' a bathing suit. Do you want to come to swimming lessons?" She asked, hopefully.
