Spence's eyes lost some of their fire as Lali vented her own anger. The tears didn't help either. He hated to see chicks cry, especially over a dumbass like Demy. Still, he wasn't just going to let the little s**t get away with saying whatever the hll he wanted!
"The only reason you aren't some homeless druggie loser is because you got picked up by some sugar daddy at a bar!" Spence retorted with a growl.

"Druggie loser...?" Lali repeated in a whisper before spinning around and facing Demy completely. If he had lied to her that night she'd made him dinner...
"What's he talking about, O Fearless Leader?" she asked in the coldest possible voice. "And I wouldn't recommend lying to me."
If he'd gone and gotten himself sucked into the drug scene after swearing when they'd stil all been together that he'd never touch the stuff... Well. Spence might not get a chance to kill him. She would.

"I have no idea." The boy huffed, turning his back on the both of them. It was the only way to get out from under Lali's cold stare. The youth shifted uncomfortably, glancing over his shoulder briefly at the two before looking back out at the street to get his attention off of them.

"Pfft...you didn't know? Seems like the fall from his pedestal was a little to hard for the runt. So he coked himself up and got picked up by some stuck up Brit at a bar," Spence growled, a bit happy to see the focus of Lali's anger shift to the boy.

For a moment, Lali practically trembled with anger. Still staring hard enough at the back of Demy's head to burn holes through his skull, her voice was an acid dripping whip of ice when she finally spoke.
"So you lied to me that night. I took you home and patched you up and fed you enough food to outfit a platoon and worried myself sick over you when you left and YOU LIED TO ME?!?"
Thrusting her bags at Spence to hold for a moment, she dug into her backpack and pulled out a thin black cardboard folder. Then, moving to seize Demy's wrist and slapped the folder into his hand.
"You were so keen to see pictures of me att hat last job, well here you go. Be sure and pay proper attention to those poor bitches posing with me while you're busy fapping, Fearless Leader. I want you to see those burnt out eye and ribs sticking out and those black circles under their eyes. It ain't makeup and I want you to think long and hard about what they were pretty much forced to do for the boss when they wanted more of their poison of choice. The only reason I DON'T look like them is because of the promise we all made back then. Nice to see how much you value your word, Stardust."

"I don't WANT your stupid ******** pictures!" The boy snarled, smacking the folder onto the ground and doing his best to wrench his arm out of Lali's grip. It hurt, but it was worth it to get her off of him. He always wanted contact with the singer...but this simply wasn't what he desired.
"We promised not to abandon each other either! I don't see anyone getting all huffy over THAT broken promise. What the ******** gives you the right to lord over what I do, huh?!" He didn't like it, he didn't like how pathetic his drugs always made him look..though to be honest he had always been scrawny and a bit on the pathetic side. At least back then he had been -cute-, now even that was rather questionable. But it felt so good and before long he was addicted, and now even Demy himself had no idea why he continued to do what he did.
Tears streamed the stars face beneath the hood. He honestly felt betrayed by them, even if the breakup was largely his fault. The time spent dwelling on it, and the drugs and booze he chose to drown his sorrows in, simply twisted the story more and more until he felt he was completely in the right.
"Lou might not be ideal...but at least I'm not alone anymore..."

Now weighed down by Lali's baggage, Spence stood back and watched. Served the dumbass right to get scolded.
"You wouldn't have been alone if you hadn't broke the band up!!" he growled. "It wasn't perfect before but at least we had fame and recognition!"

Ignoring the pictures, Lali crossed her arms over her chest and glared right back.
"I have news for you, Fearless Leader," she spoke in a soft, sad voice. "You abandoned us first. You started believing the crap PR fed the press and let it go to your head. And might I add, as much as it tore me up inside to walk, that still felt better than the ******** abuse you heaped on me for not being "good enough" to even breathe in your presence. And don't try to tell me you didn't treat us that way. EVERYONE saw it."
She wasn't any less angry, but Demy was clearly only going to retreat deeper into his fantasies of "OMG I WAS WRONGED" if she tried to push the point. Instead, she made it a point to grind those ugly pictures under her heel before turnign her back on them and gathering her bags back from Spence.
"Still got news for you, Demy. Believe whatever you want, turn me into a traitorous cow if you like, but truth is, I didn't stop caring about my friends. But I also didnt' stop caring about my own mental and emotional health. You might not be alone, but you are clearly not as happy anymore either."

So this was how it was going to go down, was it? His friends turning their backs on him for good, spewing their venomous words as they walked away? Had Demy still had his old fighting spirit in him he would have rebounded and spit insults right back.
But this Demy was hardly the Demy of the old days. With a heavy broken sigh the boy didn't utter a single word. Perhaps he really did deserve this, but it didn't lessen the blow at all. Ears flat and tears still streaming, the former..yes...former, star stared at them silently.

Softening just a touch, she allowed a bit of warmth to creep back into her voice. As she stood and watched Demy.
"Now," she began softly, coaxingly. "Here is what will happen now. You two meatheads are going to make up and declare truce at least for tonight and part of tomorrow. You will both be coming home with me and I will make enough food to feed an army. We will even make cookies the way we did as kids."
Studying the two, she decided it was safe enough to allow a smile to appear.
"Demy, you will be calling this Lou fellow or give me his number and let me call him. You are staying over tonight and we are all going to fall asleep in a giant cuddle pile the way we did when we were five. Though if either of you lunks tries to grope me, I will punt your a** to the floor."
Freeing up a hand, she tugged gently at Demy's elbow, willing him to go along with her plan.
"Come on, cutie-pie. It might not be what you want rigth now. But it's somethign you need."

Truce? with Demy?? Pfft...Fat chance! However if it meant going back to Lali's place for the night, he supposed he could let the argument drop for one night.
Spence eyed the younger audio. "..fine," he grumbled reluctantly.

"...Cookies?" Demy allowed a small tail wag at that. Honestly it was the best sounding part of the plan. But hey, at least it was better than him crying on the street.
"Chocolate chip cookies? Please? Or or...the ones with little candy things in them...I'd buy the candy..." Demy offered quietly, still a bit afraid to perk up completely. "Spence used to like those when we were little..."

"We can make as many types of cookies as I have the ingredients for," Lali replied softly. She didn't want to upset him any further and right now, a raised voice would do just that. So instead, she leaned over and kissed his nose before winking at them both.
"Hell, if it'll help you two meatheads get along, I'll even let you raid my underwear drawers provided you don't disturb the neighbors or leave any nasty messes for me to clean up. Come on," she said with pleading eyes, "let's try to be friends like before? Even if it's just tonight? Please?"
Lali hated begging, but today, she was tired of fighting and being by herself. She wanted her friends back. Then, remembering the new camera gear, she gave her own tail a wag.
"We can even experiment with my new camera! You two peacocks can't tll me you're indifferent to having photos taken. But first." She fished a battered cell phone out of her pocket. "Please call your friend and let him know you'll be with me tonight, okay, Demy? I don't want him to worry."

Spence's gaze shifted to Demy at the mention of his favorite cookie. They really had been close as kids. What the hell had happened? Before he could answer himself, he caught the quick kiss Lali had given Demy. "Hey! Where's mine??" he demanded with a bit of a whine. No fair that the runt was STILL getting all the attention when he had been the one so obviously in the wrong.
The underwear drawer idea sounded promising as did some candid shots later. Throw in his favorite cookies and a kiss from Lali and this could be fun!

Demy purred a bit at the kiss, a hint of a smile appearing on the star's face. "Cookies, underwear drawers, and cameras huh? Just what kinda thing are you inviting us over for Lali..." Demy let out a small snicker, reaching out to take the phone. "Fine fine I'll call Lou...not that he isn't used to me being out."
Finally letting down his hood, the boy took a few steps away to make his phone call in private. It wasn't too long before he walked back and handed the phone back to Lali. "Ready." He gave a small nod, lifting a paw to wipe the last of his tears away.
