Jenny is so damn Sueish. Am I the only one who thinks that? With the gymnastics and the whole dying in his arms thing... eek.
other than her, I liked it. With the paradox and the reveal that it has, in fact, only been a week... twas interesting.

I think I'm giving this one a 3 out of 5 (which reminds me, I need to put up a poll). The underlying story was okay, but a couple of things really irked me. These are:

1. The whole bit with Jenny dying and reviving at the end. Mainly because I thought it was badly executed. The way in which Jenny got shot (taking a bullet for 'dad'... why not just shove him out of the way?!). The fact that she dies, doesn't regenerate, and doesn't revive until the Doctor has gone. It's not that I necessarily think these things shouldn't have happened, but the way it was depicted on-screen felt a bit contrived.

2. The whole war broke out 7 days ago. Yeah, okay, I like that it's revealed that the war hadn't been going on for centuries, but only 7 days stretches credibility, doesn't it? I mean, how vicious a war was it that all the original settling humans and Hath got killed off in the first week? And where the heck are all the bodies? I would have bought it if they said 7 months... maybe even 7 weeks... but 7 days just seems way too short. Then again, nobody said it was reckoned in Earth days, so I guess I can pretend it was a much longer interval than we're supposed to believe.

I also don't get why they just decide to shove random people (like the Doctor) into the cloning machine. You'd think that they'd pick the specimens with the best traits for warfare (like the clone army in the Star Wars prequels), rather than a doofy looking skinny guy with clean hands. If they couldn't come up with a decent explanation, they should have just had the Doctor accidentally shove his hand into the replicator instead.

Despite all that, I did like the story overall. The premise about why the Hath and humans were fighting was decent enough, and watching how the Doctor's attitude towards his 'daughter' evolved throughout the story was interesting.

Though there were a few flaws, it was still my favorite episode of season 4 so far...

I kind of enjoyed the cheesiness. Somehow this one seemed more like an old series story to me. That they had only been there for seven days was a cool twist.

Yeah, the whole thing also kind of reminded me of a fanfic. (I've heard other people say that they thought Jenny was too Mary Sue-ish, too), but I didn't really mind that, considering she is supposed to be created directly from the Doctor/a super soldier, the acrobatic laser dodging seemed to fit, and I think the actress had a believable enough resemblance to David Tennant.

I thought the scene where Donna makes him listen to Jenny's heartbeats was really well done and believable.

The part where Martha's Hath friend died made me really sad...

Jenny's death was pretty predicable, but I didn't expect her to not actually die, and go off to follow in -what she believes- are her dad's footsteps! Is this going to be a problem? Why is there sinister music playing??? Anyway, it is a fun concept so I hope she comes back during this season, though not sure if that will happen...

Questions/Nitpicks:
-Why DIDN'T she regenerate? -Possible explanation: since her body was newly formed, like the doctor's hand, she could grow back?

-What happened to the first generation of colonists who knew what was going on?

-It seems strange that the terraforming device would have to be smashed to activate... but I guess it worked. biggrin

Well I thought it was alright
I didnt like the way it started, with the whole shove his hand in machine because he is there. and I disliked the end, you so knew she would die (sort of) because for some reason the doctor isnt allowed to be happy anymore.

I didnt mind the hath though, they were good, but unlike most people here I laughed when Martha's hath friend died, some how I found it amusing.

I almost would have liked to see the doctor shoot that guy, no one would have expected that : D

And it reminded me greatly of the old episodes, the hath and the 'only seven days' thing seemed to remind me greatly of some of the old episodes

In Planet of Fire The Master dies one of his many comic-book pretend deaths with a "How can you do this to your own..."

Lance Parkin mischeviously points out that 'husband' fits.

Yeah, as soon as he said she could travel with them, I thought "She's dead!" (Astrid, anyone?)

I just got flashbacks to the scene in The Never Ending Story! If you've seen it, you know what I mean, if you haven't, make sure you do.

Random thought - Damn. Why must I live in Australia, I'll never know. Still, at least I have major league spoilers to keep me up to date in Dr.Who.

Someone posted this little easter egg (or accidental prop screwup) on the Outpost Gallifrey forum: click me!

(hint: look to the right of Jenny's shoulder)

How people actually manage to spot these things, I'll never know...

I knew she would die, because due to the quantum physics of the TARDIS, the Doctor cannot have two blonds living with him at once. Rose is back, therefore his daughter MUS T NOT COME.
She'll probably come back in later series though when Rose is dead again because as 3mmi said, the Doctor is not allowed to be happy.

as soon as he started to warm to her, I knew she'd die. I'm not sure I could have stood her for too long, to be honest. I did really like her in that one episode though.

Because as we know all fish can breathe in quick-sand-like mud. It would clog up his gills and throat and choke him to death.

LOL ITS CHRIS FROM SKINS

Am I the only one who saw Jenny's death coming the moment the Doctor said she could come with him? This is exactly what happened with Astrid in the Xmas special. I decided that Jenny was either going to die or decide to stay for one reason or another.

I actually like the ending. I like how the terra-forming thing brought her back to life, but to be honest, I don't think Jenny was ever dead in the first place. I think the terra-former thingy kept her alive and was healing her from inside of something like that.

And am I the only one who can smell a new spin-off in the future, featuring Jenny? We all know it wouldn't work but RTD nearly tried to do it with that "Rose Tyler: Earth Defence" thing. rolleyes

I actually found Marth'a crying to be just a tad over-dramatic. Though to be honest it was probabaly from frustration and the fact that she came ||
AND SPEAKING OF CLOSE SHAVES, look how close we came to another regeneration on the doctor's part! surprised

And Donna's actually turning out to be quite the useful companion....

AND AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS MARTHA GETS THE ABSOLUTE WORST OF EVERYTHING? Martha is the one that had to act like a slave and do all the work in the Family of Blood, Martha is the one that had to geta job in Blink, MARTHA is the one that had to do pretty much all the dirty work in season finale and now Martha is the one who get's kidnapped and has to take the 'surface route' and nearly get killed. *SPOILER IN STRIKETHROUGH BELOW*

And I just found out that Marth'a not even going to be in the S4 finale. gonk but, to be fair, the Doctor couldn't handle that many companions at once.

And the Hath...well, I thought they should have been just a bit more scary-looking. And the blowing bubble thing just irritated me to no end. But that was funny when they were all feeling Martha.

Overall, the episode was better than I expected, and next wekk just looks hilarious. xp The only disappointing thing was that we didn't get to see Donna's 'womanly wiles' rofl

HAHA, and BTW, the pun you added on the "1" option in the poll is hilariously clever.

I actually really liked Jenny.
I found her cute.
o.o'
But that's just me.

The relationship between her and The Doctor was strained at first, he had trouble accepting that he is (as he put it) the Father and MOTHER of this grown up child. I didn't really pay much attention to the Mary Sue-ish thing she apparently had going on...
She had flaws, flaws that made me want to slap her for but flaws none the less. She was innocent, but corrupted by this seven day battle that lasted through generations.

I rather think the end was executed rather well.
She wouldn't have regenerated... properly anyway as she is not a proper Timelady. I'm guessing she just had a few repairs, yes?
Remember back to the first episode of David Tennants reign as The Doctor? Yeah... Remember the gold crap that he kept spewing up into the atmosphere?
That's what I think Jenny was doing.
Or maybe it could have been the less pretty version of a Timelord's proper regeneration...
