The filly blushed slightly at the compliment, but it sooned changed to laughter. "Oh Kenji, Kenji, Kenji." She playfully nipped at his lush green mane, "I couldn't fly when I was in the basket. Stupid thing was so small I could barely move inside." Ziva made a face when she thought about the annoying and uncomfortable basket that her two-legger had placed her in right after she had been born. "I honestly don't know what the point is of shoving us in those wretchful things." Her eyes became fixated on a butterfly who found it's way unto the colt's left ear. It made him look so cute and vulnerable. She couldn't fight back the urge to grin mischeviously, "You look so pretty now."

"Pretty?!?" he whimpered. "Me... pretty?!?" he whined at the thought of being called pretty. Weren't girls meant to be called pretty? Daddy called mother pretty all the time, but she never called him pretty! Just, handsome. Why wasn't he handsome?!? He frantically tried to think of a reason why Ziva would call HIM pretty, when SHE had the pretty wings.
In all his flurry, he saw a butterfly fly off him. It was really pretty. He smiled at its beauty as it fluttered away. Then he turned to Ziva. "Race you to the beach!" he blurted out and in less than a second sprinted off to his home near the sea. It would be far away, but it was worth it!

It all happened so fast that she noticed him halfway across the field by the time she found out what he had said. "W-what?!" She watched as he ran even further away. "Hey! Wait for meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!" Her legs were jerked forward as the filly took off after the geen and yellow-striped foal. The beach? He had said that they were racing towards it. Ziva smiled at the thought of probably finding her mother walking on the sandy shore. Their home was on the beach, the very place where her mother was born and really fond off. What would Nalani think when her little girl brought over a colt to meet? She laughed as an image of her mother's shocked face came into her thoughts. Picking up speed, she managed to reach Kenji, but she was still behind.

Kenji's thoughts raced just as much as his legs pushed forward. His first race! And he was winning! He wondered if his mom would be at their home, just next to the beach. Oh how proud she would be if he brought home a little filly friend. But of course, Mother being the mother she was would get the wrong impression. He sighed a little, deciding NOT to bring Ziva to meet his mother after all when he noticed that Ziva was right behind him. Wow! She's fast! he thought as he sped up a little and sprinted a bit faster. He could smell the salt in the air already, they weren't far! Just across the meadow, then through the small patch of trees where his home was, then the beach. "First one to splash the water wins!" He called out.
((Why don't you randomise 1-10, if its an even number Kenji wins if its an odd number Ziva wins?))

Geez that colt had a lot of speed. Ziva was being to feel tired and her breathing became harder and faster. There was no way she could beat him after his huge lead, unless some miracle happened. "Fine!" The filly called out to her friend, "You're on!" She used her last bit of strength to pick up her speed, bringing her next to the colt, but still being behind by a nose length. Her small legs began to ache but she refused to give up for her mother's sake. Nalani was a proud racer and Ziva was determined to be just like her. It flowed in her blood, it would be a disgrace if she gave up without a good fight.

Kenji was surprised at the little girl's speed. She was a tiny little filly. Maybe it was because of her wings, who knows? She was a weird one, so maybe that explained her small-ness. But that just made her look cute and fragile. He almost didn't want to beat her because after all, he had gotten a head start and she had caught up! The water was in sight now. Almost there! he thought as he summoned all his strength and took one last sprint. But, without thinking, just half a meter away from the water he came to an abrupt stop, not knowing why. He watched as Ziva darted past him into the water first. He blinked. Huh? Why did I stop?

She blinked and in a flash the filly found herself in the small waves on the shore. Huh? Where'd he go?! In her confusion, Ziva lost her footing and toppled into the water. "ACK!" A large splash was made and she sunk under the wave that came afterwards. Luckily for her, it was in shallow water so there was no danger of drowning. The filly jerked her head up and looked around, spotting the colt standing on the shore looking a bit dazed. Ziva jumped up, almost falling over as another wave came crashing towards her. "Hey!....Kenji!" Hopefully he came back to reality soon or she was going to have to bop him on the head. "Hello? Are you ok? What happened...?"

Kenji blinked again. He saw that Ziva was all wet, and couldn't help but giggle. She smelled like salt, which was very different from her usual flowery scent. "Umm, I guess I got a cramp or something and I stopped." he made up a feeble excuse, though he knew very well that his body had made him stop because he wanted her to win since he had a jump start. But he didn't tell her that, he didn't want to ruin his pride. "I'm alright now though, no cramp, nothing." he said proudly as he straightened his neck, flicked his head, letting his curls fly in the wind and walked towards the water majestically. Then he tripped over a rock and landed face first into the sea, created a massive splashing noise.

Ziva jumped back as soon as the colt fell forward at her feet. "Oh no, are you ok?" She quickly nudged him to his feet before a wave came to crash on his face. The filly rapidly jumped around him to make sure he had not injured himself too badly. Facing him once again, she tilted her head and asked, "I guess that cramp came back at the wrong time, huh?" He looked adorable with his mane and forelock all wet. It was stuck all over his face, making her giggle at the cuteness. Ziva reached over and gently removed the hair from his eyes so that he could see.

When Ziva removes his hair from his eyes, he found himself face to face with her. Her eyes were so pretty! When he looked at her closely, he could tell she was just as normal as he was, except for the strange wing things... He nuzzled her nose and stepped back a little. "Tag! You're it!" he said as he darted across the beach, running wildly across the sand, his wet hair and mane stuck to his body which was getting covered in sand.

The surprised filly squeaked as he took off once more. She should have seen that coming from the start but Kenji managed to catch her with her guard down yet again. "Darn it, Kenji, stop doing that!" She quickly raced after the playful colt and plotted to have him tied down next time so he wouldn't keep running away. As Ziva caught up with him, she reached out with her muzzle and clung to his tail. "Shag! Shur mit!" As soon as the muffled words left her lips, the young fluttercorn stopped, turned, and took off into the other direction.

Kenji was again surprised by her speed. When she bit his tail, he gave a little squeak and tried to figure out what her muffled words were. Could they be "Tag? You're it?" They had to be, for she turned the opposite direction and sprinted away. "Hey! I'm gonna get you!!" he called after her as he sped up, trying to ignore his hooves sinking into the sand. He managed to catch up but instead of tagging her by her tail he came up next to her and gave her a soft tackle from the side, causing them both to fall down and roll over on the sand together.

A loud yelp could be heard coming out of the unsuspected rolling filly. She didn't even know what happened, all she knew was that the ground came up quickly and the world seemed to be spinning before her very eyes. It took a few seconds before Ziva realized what was going on. "Keeeeeeeenjiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!" Everything came to a stop, but for some odd reason the sky was under her. The dizzy filly had landed on her back with her legs sticking out into the air. Her wavy mane was a mess and full of sand. The tiny wings on her back were all wrinkled up, but not torn. Ziva remained in that position and had her eyes concentrated on the colt a few feet away.

Kenji landed right next to Ziva, but his face was buried in the sand and he couldn't see anything. His curls were all messed up and full of sand. He plucked his face out the sand and gave it a good shake, spraying the sand everywhere. Then he noticed Ziva looking at him and felt bad for knocking her over, but boy was it funny! he snickered a little and turned around so he was in the same position as she was, legs in the air lying on his back. He looked at the sky, it was beginning to get dark.
They sat there, not saying a word till the sun was beginning to disappear and the stars were beginning to show. He looked at Ziva's coat. It looked just like the sky. "Ziva..." he began. "You know, you look like the brightest star in the sky..."

Ziva blinked several times at the colt and then she turned her head to look at herself. "Do I really? I thought I just looked like daddy." She looked back at Kenji and smiled, then slowly rolled over to his side, bumping into him gently. "Thanks Kenji. You're such a nice colt and you're so much fun to hang around with." The filly quickly gave him a small peck on the cheek and rolled to her feet. The night was drawing quickly and it wasn't save for them to be alone, especially with kalonas and skinwalkers on the loose. "Hey Kenji, I had a great time today. I'm really glad we meet, but it's getting really late. Our mothers will worry if we stay out any longer." She playfully tickled his nose with her tail before he got up. "Maybe we can play again some other time."
