At her son's gaze, Kirjava nodded her head. As he rubbed his head against her forelegs, she lowered her head close to his and murmured, "They look icky so that we don't eat them." They wouldn't taste good anyways, plus, she had heard awful things happened if a lion ate a frog and she didn't want to find out if those rumors were true or not.
Her ears flicked as she let her gaze shift from her son to the frog. She looked over it curiously, it always amazed her how even the smallest of creatures could survive in such a cruel world. But as the frog jumped towards her son and into the water, she surpressed a laugh that was wanting to escape. It was just so adorable, watching her son experience the world. At his question, she looked at him gently, "I think you scared the poor frog, Aapep. Perhaps it could understand you, though I wouldn't know since I don't speak frog." She winked playfully.

“That’s true. I’d rather hunt a rat than a frog.” Aapep admitted easily, coiling his tail around his mother’s foreleg as if to hold her close. He didn’t like frogs much, just as much as he didn’t like cold water. But maybe, if he could hear one singing, it’d be a different story. He liked listening to bird song so maybe a frog song was pretty too!
“Oops…” He replied sheepishly. “Poor frog.” He giggled. “It would be weird to understand frogs. I wonder what they would say.” And then he was off, tottering along the bank as if seeking to ask one.
“Mother, where does the water come from?” He asked after a moment. “Is it always here like this? Or does it move like the herds do?” He was curious, certainly, and his mother was this endless pool of wisdom that he wanted to wallow in.
He smiled up at her adoringly, his little, striped face full of such innocence.

Always full of questions, her son was. Kirjava took a few steps towards the edge of the water before bending her head down to lap up a few sips of water. Her ears turned towards Aapep as she heard his question. That was a good question, she mused silently to herself.
Her gaze lingered on the water before the pair before she let it shift towards her son. Head tilted slightly as she replied, "Water actually comes from a lot of different places, Aapep. It all depends on what water you're looking at," She laughed softly, "It would be cool to see water move likes the herds do, or perhaps that would be a little scary. Water is everywhere, or almost everywhere..." Her voice trailed off softly at the memories of the horrid desert. There was no water there, or at least, there was no water for her to drink. She brushed the thoughts away before she continued as she didn't want to let the mood turn sour at unwanted memories. "If you dig deep enough, you'll hit water Aapep."

"Everywhere?" He echoed, sitting down and blinking up at her. He couldn't help a yawn breaking free. "Well, so long as it doesn't take over the land, I guess that's okay." It seemed Aapep was going to be of the mind where water wasn't that great.
For drinking, yes.
For splashing around in, no.
He stood, rubbed against his mother's forelegs and sat, seemingly restless. "My legs hurt." He put on a little innocent smile. "Can mum carry me back to the den? Pretty, pretty pleaseeee? I promise I'll be good if you say yes."

A soft laugh escaped from Kirjava, "Oh no, if it took over the land then where would we live, Aapep?" She bent her head forward to nudge him gently. She knew that he didn't care all too much about water. It would be rather interesting for Aapep to learn of his older brother that lives right next to the ocean. But that was for a different time. For now, she had a little lazy cub on her paws.
Her eyes narrowed slightly in play at her son, "Does it now?" Then her face lit up, "Is that so? I guess if you promise to be good, not that you aren't already the best." She licked his cheek affectionately before she reached to pick him up and carry him off to their den.

He nodded, trying to imagine water everywhere, imagining his den flooded, the antelope bobbing on the surface. Yes, if water filled the land there could be no life, not for a lion anyway.
"In the trees." He chirped in response, after another moment of thinking.
"Yay!" And he let himself be carried back to the den. That was one good thing about being small. And the gentle rocking motion of his mother's walking had him dosing even before they reached the comfort of home.
((since this rp is pretty much at an end, would you like me to set up another rp with you? Aapep's got lots to tell his mummy! ))
