I appreciate everyone's suggestions. heart
Today we kind of had a little discussion on it. I get to make a petticoat this weekend! heart
I think she kind of enjoys me wanting to sew, and create so many new things. I dont even think it matters now about the whole lolita thing, but it is something I need to explain to her still.

That's wonderful! I'm glad she understands as much as you've explained.
Good luck on making your petticoat!

I just showed my parents pictures of the clothes. They were fine with it. 3nodding
Edit: As in, they thought it was pretty, etc etc. But my mom wouldn't let me wear the stuff to school (not that I have anything lolita), as found out today. mad

They were fine with it. 3nodding My mom has seen my Gothic & lolita bible. o_o There were some things she was like, "oo that''s cute!" Then she saw mana and was like, "He''s really skinny!" Yes, she said "he" The first time seeing him. rofl

My mom's scared of the "goth" in EGL. xD But with all that lace, how could it be as destructive as the goth she thinks about?
I am too poor for any outfits, so this is irrelevant for me. But I would wear lot's of stuff to make you look beautiful and honestly tell her why you like it. I'm sure she'll understand. whee

My Mom while I was having an artist block was looking through my folder I have which composes of j-rocks, lolita, and shoujo characters. So in the car she replied," Why dont you draw her. She's pretty and she's wearing that lolita stuff you like. " I started busting out laughing and told her it was a man. It was just silent for a bit," He must've had surgery."

My mom doesn't like the fashion at all... she thinks it's related to lolita porn and the book "Lolita". I've tried telling her about it, but I think the only way to be lolita is to move out of the house sweatdrop

That's funny. rofl Took her a while to kind of have it click? I had a character in a story my friend and I were making, were the girl was really a guy, and very feminine. He enjoyed flower arrangements. whee The idea came while I was looking at mana pictures. eek

I've tried telling her about it, but I think the only way to be lolita is to move out of the house sweatdrop I don't suppose you forgot to ask how the look/fasion possibly derived from the book/perversion? I mean thinking logically, its far too innocent, there's no subversive seduction or anything like that, and honestly, the ONLY connecting term is the word Lolita. Where is the sexual appeal in peticoats, opaque stockings and frills/bows/lace? It looks adorable, not sexual. Ask her if she's ever wanted to get down and dirty with a porcelain doll or a plushi toy hahaha its the same thing really, cute not sexy. I suppose, sailor-scout outfits soewhat fit on the edge of Lolita based on the young-girl/perversion thing, but lolita fashion doesn't wear them anyway.

I've been easing the clothes slowly into my normal attire, so as not to surprise my parents too much. Last weekend I wore a loli-ish skirt, black tights, and mary jane's out to dinner and my mom loved it. I guess because I've been a "tomboy" my whole childhood, she's happy to see me wearing skirts and tights outside of school. I think she'll be okay with it. It's my dad I'm kind of worried about. i guess we'll have to see.

I only recently discovered that my mom and I have a pretty similar sense of style. o__o When I was younger, I was pretty restrained clothing-wise. (In seventh grade, a girl once mentioned to me that she had the same t-shirt I was wearing in second.) But now, my mom is starting to let me wear what I want, and I've found that we like a lot of the same things.
My mom saw my headdress awhile ago, and was like, "Ha ha. What's this?" I replied, "A headdress thing. You wear it on your head." ^^; And I showed her. She was like, o.o! "Ooh! It's reaally pretty."
I was really surprised, but quite happy. She hasn't seen loli clothes yet though, so I don't know how she'll react when I show her. XD But now that I think about it, a lot of clothing I saw in Chinese stores really resembled lolita, so I think I'll show her the cute stuff that doesn't seem weird at all.
