Ryu watched her leave. Her word hurt. They stabbed him in the heart. Almost killing him. He screamed in anguish, though he wasn't pyschically hurt. He felt his heart brake in half. He buried his head in his paws, trying to hide his ashamed face. "Why? Why? WHY?!" He screamed, his screams turning into tears. "She-she hates me now..." he sobbed. "I never should've fallen in love with her. I've been rejected." The harshness portrayed in books, was now really true for Ryu. He couldn't tear his eyes from the imprint in the ground that she left. He pawed softly at the ground. As the tears fell, he stopped trying to hide them. Rolling into her imprint in the ground, he let out another ear-piercing scream. Ryu was sobbing now and was horribly in pain. Without Exodus, he was nothing. He spoke to his reflection. "I wanted her so badly. But, I ruined it. I have been rejected. I wonder what she's doing now..." He pawed at his reflection, feeling the cold water sting him.

She had done it.....
She had really done it.......
She had broken two hearts with one stone......
And now she regreted her desicion........
She wanted his love back.......
She wanted Him back.........
So............ she must really be a monster now......
These thoughts whirled around in her head as Exodus blindly ran through the woods, tears staining her cheeks. Her frozen heart was shattered..... and she left the peice with the one ModiFox that dared to love her........and the only one that she would ever give her heart freely to.
She heard the screams of a broken heart, her own voice howling in tune with them, but was lost in the wind that whipped past her. Where she go? Where could she go? All the places that she was familar with would remind her of him.
She knew, deep in her heart, that she was running away from love. Her fear was being in love or being loved. She left because she was afraid something perfert was happening. But she also knew, that no matter what she said or did, that she would always love him......
She was a Runaway-Love.

"It's no use laying here acting like an idiot Ryu!" he yelled at himself. "EXODUS!!" he screamed so loud that it'd be a wonder if China didn't hear it. He cried as he slid helplessly into the water. The piercing cold frightened him. It took his mind off the aching of his heart. "I want you back!!!" He struggled to keep his paws gripped to the grass. The fireflies were still overhead. Ryu watched the fireflies dance, as a bird swooped from far above. Something floated down form the sky. It was a flower. It was his favorite color. Magenta. He caught the flower before it was able to even touch the ground. "I love you." he spoke as if the flower was Exodus. "If you really were here... I would apologize. But it's too late for that now." His pain hit him hard. He had promised the flower that he'd keep it with him at all times. With that, he grabbed the magenta flower, and held it to his heart. Ryu let himself sink under the water to his death. "EXODUS I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!" he cried before the water was over his head.

Exodus kept running. Never looking back. She had to keep running. Or else..... the dark memories would start comming back........Meanwhile....... A sunset colored Modifox raced through the woods, golden eyes blazing. Her honey-dipped feet barely touched the ground as wind whistled in her perked ears. Her pelt of glittering colors rippled as the muscles under neith the fur tensed and untensed with each long stride. The screams she had heard eariler were really from Ryu.
'What the heck happened?! Why is he screaming for Exodus? It sounds like he's in trouble!!!', wondered the vixen whose name was Starrla.
She skidded into the clearing and followed her nose to the pool, where Ryu's scent ended. The surface was barely disrupted by small bubbles, and her eyes widened when she saw a light-colored blob in the clear water, getting smaller.
She daringly lept into the water, hissing when the cold water touched her warm flesh. When she was completely under the water, she began swimming to Ryu. Using her tail as a rudder, she turned slightly to the right, kicking her legs with powerful strokes that brought her ever-closer to the limp Modifox.
When she finally reach him, she was surprised to see how close they were to the bottom, as well as the fact that he was holding a magenta toned flower in his mouth, considerably close to his chest. She grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and turned back to the surface. She kicked off the rocky bottom, and began swimming back to the glittering world of light and life.
She scrambled up and out of the freezing water, then dragged Ryu out as well. She quickly shivered, looking at the now star-studded sky and coold breeze that filtered through the trees. She stole a glance at the fireflies, sending them a glare in the process.
Starrla then quickly inspected Ryu. No broken bones.....but he wasn't breathing! After a few moments of painic, she rolled the male onto his back, quickly taking the flower out of his mouth. She placed her fore-paws on his chest and pushed on it sharply. No luck. She continued this process, over and over again, trying to force the water out of his lungs.

Ryu was unconcious, and he sure wasn't breathing by now. As he drifted back intto conciousness, he felt a pounding in his lungs. Something was banging on his chest repeatedly. Under his lids, he could tell it was dark. It was sure lighter than the seafloor though. His eyelids fluttered open. He tried to catch a glimpse of who had been banging on his chest.
It was a Modifox he had seen a couple times as a kit - Starrla. "S-Starrla?" he asked drowsily. "Is that you?" Ryu looked around, searching. He couldn't find what his heart truly desired most. Then, almost if by fate, he saw her face. He reached out to touch it, but it disappeared. In the place he saw his love, was the flower. He grabbed the flower, holding it close. "I miss her..." he sighed. "Life is meaningless without her. She doesn't want me, I have to accept that, but.... I can't. I want her too much!" Ryu slowly and steadily stood. He realized he had been laying Exodus's imprint. He stared at it, and then collapsed. He curled up in a ball, his eyes were wide opened. To him, sleep was pointless, life was meaningless, and love was made for fairytales.

Starrla stopped pounding on his chest when he had awakened. She blinked a few times at him proclaim, puzzled, before it clicked in her head. She laid down beside him, her tail wrapping itself around Ryu instead of herself.
She nuzzled his wet cheek a few times, trying to get him out of his stupor. The nuzzles were meant only to do that, and out of a motherly love and worry, and something different..... Something more.
"Your life is not worthless. Don't spend it so carelessly! The world does not revolve around you being with Exodus, Ryu. You're too good for that.", she whispered into his ear, feeling sad for him and wondering why.
She perked her ears at a sound and looked up. Dark gray cloud where over-head. And, boy, did they look and sound angry!! She lloked at Ryu, then at the sky. "You can stay with me for the night. I won't leave you out here to catch a cold." , she stated, waiting for an answer.

"Yes it does revolve around her" he stated, as unwrapped Starrla's tail. It made him think of her. The way they used to wrap their tails around each other's, the way they nuzzled each other. The love he once had slipped out of his grasps. "This flower," he spoke. "Is the last thing I have left to remember her. And the imprint underneath me, from earlier today, when she was still here. She left an imprint in the ground, and I don't want to ever let go." He once more pawed at his reflection in the water. The fact that Starrla had said he was too good for being with her kept running through his mind. "I'm not too good for her!" he yelled at Starrla. "You don't understand!!" he was furious now. " I don't want to go with you, I want to lay here until she comes back or until I die. Whichever comes first..."

Starrla was mad. She was quite surprised as to how fast she could go from trying to be understanding to incredibly pissed off. Her current record was now standing as three point six seconds. She pounced onto Ryu, pushing him to his back on the ground and his chest in the air.
Her muzzle was in the form of a snarl, her normally 'happy go lucky' amber eyes were pale yellow orbs, frigid and uncaring. her ears lay flat against her skull and her tail twitched angrily. She jabbed her paws into his chest, forcing him to stay put.
"Okay. You listen here, and you better listen good, Whelp! I love Exodus just as much and maybe even more than you. She's like the little sister I never had!"
"But, as much as I might love her, she is an idiot. A big, fat, stupid Fox whose life got screwed up at a young age! Yet she still lives! She still breathes! True, she does not do this with you, but she still does! Find strength in that fact at least!"
And if I EVER hear you trying to tell anyone or thing that either you've given up on living or that life's given up you, I'll personally see to it that your precious little flower is torn to little bits! And FYI, you are staying the night with me, whether you like it or not!"
And with that, she daintily stepped over him, her tail sweeping over his nose, heading to her home. Her 'Home' being a little nest in the middle of a huge, as in 'Giant Red-wood tree' huge, tree's above-ground root system.

As Ryu was attacked, he growled loudly. "Get off of me!" He kicked and screamed, but he listened. The words that Starrla was proclaiming true, had not been knew to him. He knew deep down, that she would come back one day. The flower remark pushed him over the edge. " I don't care if I'm going home with you, and if you even TOUCH my flower I'll personally arrange your death. Got it?" He stood up angrily. He kissed the flower, but he still missed her. Ryu thwapped Starrla with his tail. HARD. "You deserved that." he remarked. "Remember," he said, "It's your death." With that Ryu slinked into the shadowy forest, far ahead of Starrla, unsure where he was going, or what he was doing.

Starrla stood, a silent statue in the pretty little clearing, watching as Ryu got farther and farther away from her. It's not that his words or tail had hurt her very much, it was the deeper meaning that came with the pain. Millions of different thoughts swirled in her head, and she sighed.
She walked close to Exodus's depression, messed up slightly by Ryu laying on it, and stared at it, small little marroon flowers all around it. The view of it made her sorrowful. She lowered her nose to it, sniffing all that she could of Exodus's pure scent, and sighed again.
"What have you done, my daughter, my sister, my friend?", she whispered it the grassy reminder, letting a single tear roll down her cheek. A medium breeze dashed through the clearing, bringing with it the scent of approaching rain. She looked up, a few drop form the heavens above landing on her nose. High above, the gray cloud boiled and raged, wishing to unleash their awesome might.
She quickly race out of the clearing, catching up to Ryu, but not saying a word about previous things.
The pair of 'friends' were headed south, and would make it to Starrla's home in time. Farther North from the clearing, however, the storm was already raging around a certain Modifox......
Exodus danced.
She danced, and danced, and danced, never slowing for a minute, nor a second was wasted. Racing back and forth across the small clearing she was in, leaping and spinning all the while. You'd think it was a happy dance, wouldn't you?
"STRIKE ME!"
Well, not anymore, I'd hope! She was trying to get struck by lighting, heaven's mace and hammer, so that her suffering would finally end. So that all her horrid memories would never come back to haunt her ever again!
"Come ON! You've never held back before!!", she screamed at the sky, racing toward a tree after another interval across the plain, old, wet clearing. The ground was muddy from the rain, the water above her ankles now, so she skid even closer to the tree as she tried to turn around. Muddy water sloshed and flew everywhere at her attempt.
Just then, a bolt of white light came smashing down in the tree, causing it to topple over. Sadly to say, it came down on Exodus's angle. Yelping in fear, she dashed away, eyes nearly blinded by the rain and light from the lighting, her sensitive ears ringing painfully at the resounding thunder.
She ran into the small but dry cave that she had found earlier, curling up into a small ball of fur on the rocky ground. It was about five feet above ground, a narrow strip of rock the only thing leading out to it. She whimpered pathetically, feeling no better than a small kit.
She shivered int the cold, her wet fur not helping. Sniffing sadly, she looked out at the pouring rain, her eyes distant as she thought of the only fox that could capture her heart.
"Where are you now, Ryu? Please tell me you've given up on me. Please tell me you've moved on. Where ever you are now, I hope you're happy.", she whispered into the gloom. Secretly, she wished that he was there, to tell her that she was silly to ask those questions, and bring her home.
Just like the old times.

As Ryu was walking towards Starrla's home, he sighed. Every now and then a big crack of lightning could be seen faintly in the distance. This didn't bother him, in fact, it was comforting. After one of the lightning bursts, he heard a yelp. It shot through him like a bullet. He knew that voice, that fox- Exodus. He cried out in terror. He suddenly dashed off, paying no attention to Starrla, or her home. All he had on his mind was her. He twitched every time the lightning striked in the distance. A deadly scene flashed before his eyes. "It isn't true, Ryu." he tried to tell himself. "She's moved on, she wouldn't leave herself to be hurt the way I had." Ryu was now approaching the rain. He ran further, faster, rain cutting against his skin like razors. It was so cold. The closer he got the stronger her smell became, but it was still so so faint. Just a whiff, that's all he wanted. He could smell her wet magenta fur wherever she was. He kept running, and didn't want to stop.

Starrla blinked, and watched as Ryu raced away from her. She sighed, tears beginning to well in her eyes as she looked on. "Find her. Bring her home safely.", she whispered hoarsely, nearly choking on all the emotions that she was feeling, then turned and walked into her home, just as the rain began pouring.
Exodus stirred in her sleep, jolting awake. The rain had stopped where she was, and her fur was now dry. She slowly stood up and walked out of the cave. She climbed on top of the platue, walking out onto the edge.
The gray cloud were still above, whirling in shapes. They had only paused in their destruction. Off in the distance, she could barely make out the figure of many rain droplets falling. Suddenly, the whole world seemed to brighted, and she looked up.
The clouds had broke open, leaving a clear patch of sky. The full moon could be seen, shining like in its holy pacement in the sky. A few stars could be seen as well, dull in comparision to the large whiteness. A calm breeze blew through, rippling Exodus's fur.
She closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling, feeling at peace for the first time in hours. She did not seeing the white object flying through the trees below her perch.

Ryu felt the rain lightening up, but he was already soaked. He was lucky to make his way in the dark of night. He held the magenta flower in his mouth. He flew through the forest, looking for Exodus. He ran past a warm-looking cave. Something was on top, but he couldn't make out what it was. But her scent was strong here. He climbed into the cave, and shook his fur. It was warm, something he was not used to, after all his water incidents lately. The creature on top of the cave looked as if their eyes were closed, taking the breeze in. Ryu managed to get himself atop there, too. He felt the breeze ripple through his own fur. He just stood there, looking up at the moon, not even realizing the creature he didn't bother to find out more about, was his true love.

Exodus only opened her eyes when she heard the rustle of claws on rock, coming from behind her. The creature's aura wasn't threatening, just there. She let out a weary sigh. She had no energy to fight right now.
"If you vaule that pathetic little life of yours, which I bet you do, I sugest you leave me the heck alone and go back to where ever it is you came from................."
That was her statement. She didn't even turn around and face her company. She just sigheed a long sigh and closed her eyes again. The nap she had taken earlier hadn't given her any energy. It had just made her placid and calm. Unattached to anything of the world around her.
And she didn't even know that she had dismissed the love of her life.

Ryu didn't expect that reaction to his presence. But he knew that voice, and it made him excited. Happily, he quickly pranced around, and then tackled Exodus. If it weren't night, he would scream for joy. I never thought I'd see her again he had thought to himself. But here she is! He took in her smell, her face, everything he could remember about his love. He had forgotten about the flower, so he gently put it down.
