Damn. I'm old. sweatdrop

Seriously, though, you don't really sound that old. You sound quite a bit more thoughtful than most mid-teens I know.

So... it turned out that Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader won out. I just finished reading Beowulf for fun; something I never thought I would do. I always figured I would have to read it for an English class or something along the way

Way better than the movie, that's for sure. No convoluted BS about Grendel's mom getting it on with Hrothgar and Beowulf and producing Grendel and the dragon. Nope. Just a dude, fighting monsters, bare-handed. Rock out!

Guess you don't get too much more original badass than that!

Greetings!

I am, quite simply a bookworm, willing to read just about anything as long as it can grab and hold my interest and does not mortally offend me within the first three chapters.

Thus, I have somehow ended up with The Chronicals of Elantra, The Dresden Files, The Essence of Akido, Rurouni Kenshin, various Star Wars novels, The Complete CS Lewis Signature Classics , The Lord of the Rings, Midnighters, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and 25+ orriginal Classic Star Trek novels (and everyting in between) all in the same book case, some right next to each other on the same shelf.
Oh, and of course, Harry Potter and several plays by Shakespeare.

If anyone's up for a discussion on any of the works above, a story along the same lines, or has a suggestion for an addition to the collection, please let me know~!

That's quite the mixed collection you've got there Az 3nodding

Well a few weeks ago I finished Christopher Paolini's Brisinger. It turned out to be both much better than his previous titles and much better than I expected it to be. It seems his writing has improved-with all the time he took on that book it's a good thing too-, which is good because it turns out there will infact be one last book in the series that is now being called The Inheritance Cycle rather than The Inheritance Triliogy.

Thanks, I've certainatly worked at it.

Glad to hear Brisingr is better than the others---I don't much care for the series, but for some reason when it comes to those books I'm stuck in the "I've started it, may as well finish it" mode.

"Cycle", though. I wonder what that implies--first off it reminded me of phoenix--death, rebirth, life, death, etc.-- but, perhaps because I'm reading Revenge of the Sith, and due to the similarities(sp) between Inheritence and Star Wars, the Skywalker Cycle (further discussion contains spoliers, and is posted in White Text)--You know, with Anikin becoming Vader, then Luke bringing back the Jedi, then his nephew Jacen becoming the new, for all intents and purposes, Emperor? Sure, he gets killed off by his sister, but still... comes to mind.

I've recently bought a book titled A Game of Thrones by George Martin, and it is the first book in the series "A Song of Fire and Ice."
I was just wondering if anyone has heard of it before, and/or read it?

Nope, never heard of it. Anyway... I'm reading the Inkheart trilogy right now. I'm on Inkspell right now, and though they're not the best books I've read, they'll keep me going. and I like the plotline, even if I've found better writing styles *cough* Inheritance *cough* write quicker PLEASEEEE Paolini *cough*.

And, ahh, why does this guild seem so empty sometimes sad ?

Yup. I read it. I own it. It's a pretty decent series.

You know what's better, though? The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It starts with Wizard's First Rule. It's fantastic.

I've certainly heard of "A Game of Thrones", and people say George R.R Martin is great, maybe I'll get around to reading some of his stuff. In other news, R.A Salvatore's third "Transitions" book has been out for over a month and I totally missed it, which means I have to make an express trip to the book store.

Keep reading the beginning is slow, but it gets more interesting. Have you read 1984?
