Huojin let the mare ramble to herself since there was nothing for him to say really. She was responding as carefully as she could to his earlier response and pausing almost too much with her words. He wondered why she was always so nervous when she answered him, and he sighed somewhat before turning to look at her. "Just because I snap at you doesn't mean you don't have a right to talk or be yourself. Again, you shouldn't change yourself just because my personality gets annoyed at everything." he paused then, and tilted his head. "It doesn't matter what anybody does, I'll always be annoyed. Its like my thing." and with that, he chuckled, feeling almost too prideful at the statement. He liked that he had his own strange habits, and he refused to change them for anything.
At her mention of the desert being far, Huojin naturally crinkled his face in disgust, since far was not sounding as fun as it was to her. "Far.. is there a reason you picked the farthest place here?!" After stating his words ever so aggressively, he closed his eyes and calmed himself, before swishing his tail as a natural habit. Calm calm calm. The mare couldn't handle him when he was being angry, so he tried hard to think things over calmly. "Ok, let's just get moving so we can find this place before we die."

She listened to him and nodded, making sure to pay attention to what he had to say for she had little to add herself. Snapping at her wasn't really what scared her, as scary as angry Soquili were, it was more the fear of rejection. Lately she'd been rejected by many in different ways and it hurt, Vieno tried not to show it but she was very soft and emotional. As he chuckled a smile crept across her features, for as long as somebody was laughing or happy, she was happy for them. "If you say so, I'll try not to worry," she stopped for a moment to think about something before continuing, "You've been very nice and helpful though so I wouldn't want to hurt or upset you."
Oh look, she'd done it again, she'd upset him by wanting to go to the desert! In reality she'd only wanted to get as far away as possible from that horrible, dark, forest. Lots of sun, little shadow and no dark forests sounded wonderful to her but... she didn't want to make her new fr... acquaintance unhappy. So, it was about time she changed their destination point. "What about the river? I haven't been there in awhile and it's not far," the mare sighed happily. Bubbling brooks, jumping fish and a gentle breeze blowing the trees sounded wonderful, forget scorching hot deserts!
Perhaps if they went to the river they'd find something interesting, she recalled going to the ocean once and finding a kelpie! Well, she thought that was what he was called. He had been a magnificent looking creature, she'd never seen anything quite like him. Although he'd been a bit grumpy, Vieno didn't mind, she imagined he'd been having a bad day or... or something. Suddenly her mind was filled with new adventures, the desert could wait, she was off to the land of water and relaxation!

His mind once again fluttered to its own realm as the mare continued to worry about his feelings or something, but at the mention of NOT going to the desert, he snapped back in to reality, and turned his bright eyes onto the mare's. "River? We can do a river. Especially if its a place you already know of, I mean, that's a win win right there." When he thought about it, why was this mare still around him? He found it amusing that others tried very hard to be around him. He wasn't polite, kind, or caring in any way. He was rather rude and grumpy, and mares just didn't seem to care!
"Why don't you lead the way, then." he then insisted, while flicking his tail lazily. Sometimes he felt like he was giving Vieno orders, and it was scarily empowering. Why the hell did she do everything he said? Didn't she realize that was a dangerous thing, to always listen to others?!?
"I still think your a strange mare." he then admitted, while snorting lightly out of his nose. "Even though I am an a**, I am at least not taking advantage of you. If you continue to be this nice to personalities like me, someone will definitely hurt you some day. That's just how life works, there are plenty of psychos in the world." Maybe it was his way of giving her advice, Huojin really couldn't tell. He did know that he was right, so that's why he said it of course!

He seemed to like the river idea better, which was a big relief because Vieno wasn't sure where else to go. When he told her it was a win-win situation she smiled, big and proud, her eyes sparkling once again. It seemed when this mare was happy her whole body glowed, it was obvious she fit in better when she wasn't worrying. "The river's nice, very peaceful," Vieno told Huojin, no longer worried about if she was being annoying or not. There was no more darkness and she was free as a bird, on this perfect day. Lots of sunshine, nice company, what wasn't perfect about it?
"Of course," she happily obliged and trotted ahead of him, head held high as the wind pushed her mane out of her face. It was always easy to tell when one was close to the river, for all the plant life seemed more vibrant. The water made everything grow at an incredible rate so the grass was longer, the trees had more leaves and of course there were more smaller animals. Vieno often liked to listen to the chatter of squirrels or watch the otters play, she loved nature and everything it had to give. It was then she wondered if Huojin liked any of those things, she didn't really know him well and it was wrong to judge before you knew somebody.
His comment about her being strange caught her off guard, but luckily it didn't seem to bother her. Instead, she once again smiled and quietly responded, "Everyone has different opinions and preferences, I don't think you're strange." She giggled at his next comment, shaking her head gently, "No need to be a pessimist! Not everyone in the world is out to get me..." she trailed off then, her expression far away now. She didn't feel she had much to fear, unless it included her past.

"Hopefully it isn't too far." he then muttered while following behind the bouncy female. "Its nice to see you take charge you know, it gives you a bit of independence and confidence." And maybe the mare needed that? He wasn't sure what she wanted, truthfully. But alas, she was a puzzle for him to, solve? Then again, he seriously hated puzzles...
"Yeah but there are many who ARE out to get you." he then added, with a grunt at the end of his words. "You are like me, you are good looking. There are a lot of creatures who aren't good looking, so they are going to make your life hell. I can tell you from personal experience that I've had stallions try and bother me, but they don't stand a chance. Especially since they are ugly." a laugh finished at the end of his sentence, and he was truly entertaining himself as the mare remained in charge of the path. "Have you had ugly mare's pick on you at all? If you act tough, you can fight back!"

"It's not far, we're almost there actually! You can tell because it starts to get noisier," she giggled happily, "The brook's bubbling, the birds are singing and I'm sure there's lots of other animals out to play." If there was one thing Vieno loved, it was watching everyone and everything around her peaceful and content. She lived to make others happy, which was probably why she was never worried about getting stepped on or walked over. Thriving on others' happiness was how she seemed to live and she never took notice of others trying to hurt her. Lately she'd noticed that some of the Soquili she met weren't quite as nice or respectful, they'd made horrible comments to her but she figured something was wrong. They took something badly and everything they said wasn't truly meant to be hurtful, it was just... their way of dealing.
"Everyone has their own way of doing things or looking at life, I don't think they intentionally mean to hurt," she said softly, "Perhaps they were raised differently than we were." His question made her stop for a moment and ponder what he'd just asked. She wasn't sure what to say to him really, she didn't recall anyone ever picking on her and worse yet, she'd never known anyone to be ugly. Everybody had something special about them that made beautiful in their own way. She'd met many a Soquili by now and they were all wonderful in her eyes, ugly was a horrible word to use to describe anything she decided. But, as she'd said moments ago, perhaps Houjin had different thoughts and opinions and didn't quite mean it in an insulting way.
Finally continuing on toward the river, she shook her head gently and smiled, "Ugly is such a horrible word, you don't truly find others ugly, do you? I think everyone has something beautiful and special about them..." She wasn't exactly sure how to explain her opinion without forcing it on him so how to end her speech was confusing her. "Uhm... I'm sorry, care to explain what you'd describe as ugly..?" she tried, wanting to understand him rather than push him away.
It wasn't far to the river now, Vieno could almost hear the sloshing of the water up against the clusters of rocks on the edge of the river. Oh how she loved nature and everything it had to offer!

Noisier? Huojin flicked his ears slightly, since he didn't find that as exciting. But whatever, this mare had her own things that she enjoyed and nature was definitely one of them. He continued to follow her step by step, before listening carefully on her questions. He wasn't surprised to hear that she found positivity in everyone. But sadly she was wrong, again. There were ugly individuals in the world, and there always would be. Ugly had many definitions, and Huojin supposed he would have to explain that.
"Yes, I find others ugly. It doesn't matter what you specifically think about the word, if you ignore the fact that others are ugly then you yourself are just being ignorant." he calmed himself then, and straightened his neck a bit to lose the strain. "Ugly can be personality, looks, intentions. If you refuse to acknowledge the fact that the word exists, then what does that make you? Anyways, the worst ugliness comes from those with bad intentions. And I'm sorry, ugliness DOES exist in looks. Luckily I wasn't born with that shard of truth." With a light sigh, he shook out his mane, since he knew Vieno would probably get offended. But whatever, everyone did.
"I like seeing the truths in the world, and that's why I get aggressive when other's don't." he then admitted, with a slight shrug. "Some are just ugly because it makes them feel better, maybe shoving their ugly intentions out on others. Some are ugly because they are born that way. And some are ugly because they know no other way." He looked back at Vieno and watched her carefully. "What, you expected me to not think ugliness existed? I've met too many uglies to ignore the fact."
And with that he nodded rather solemnly, since he was openly discussing what he knew about the topic.

She listened carefully to the stallion, making sure to look up and glance at the new acquaintance every so often. Staring seemed rude so she refrained from doing so. He seemed to have different opinions on things, well, opposite opinions than hers but she couldn't shun him for it. Instead, she listened carefully to what he thought and tried to make common grounds on it.
"Maybe you're right, I try to look past all of someone's bad qualities and find the good ones straight off. You'll never be able to make friends if you only look at the bad," Vieno smiled a bit, not knowing if Huojin would have liked that statement or not. "It goes without saying that everyone has something bad about them but if we all searched out only the bad we'd end up having a big war over nothing. Everybody's different and maybe..." she trailed off and left a silence hanging for a few moments, looking as if she'd lost herself and was no longer in the same place. Finally, after a long pause she spoke very softly, so much that it was barely a whisper, "...maybe we need to accept that." Her voice returned to its normal volume, but instead of looking at Huojin, the mare looked ahead when she spoke, "Ugliness exists but..."
Once again, she'd trailed off, this time for a good reason. Nickering softly, the mare trotted through some trees and pranced along the side of the river. "We're here!" she exlaimed with such joy that it was hard to remember even what she'd been saying before. "Oh, I love this place, if you're really patient sometimes you can even see the salmon jumping!" Giggling, she turned a circle, obviously thrilled with her surroundings before she caught herself and grinned sheepishly. "You must think I'm silly, huh? Getting so excited over a river," she questioned with a soft tone, her hoof pawing at the dirt somewhat nervously while she hung her head. Whatever they'd been talking about before had obviously been forgotten.

Huojin wanted to say a lot of things in response, but watching the mare frazzle about the scenery was entertaining enough. He strode towards the river himself and glanced down at the water with a calm response. Yeah, he didn't like making friends, and unlike the mare he just didn't care too. That's why he always had his opinions. But he had one friend besides his family and that was all he needed to keep himself happy really. Most Soquili needed an abundance of others to feel somewhat worthy in life's game, but he found such standards as ridiculous. But that was why life was a game, everyone could play how they wished.
"Yeah, this place is nice." he then said, while missing some of the mare's other spoken words. The area was quiet and peaceful, so of course he was reflecting in a comforted manner. But his thoughts were broken up as the mare continued talking a bit.
"I think its good to get excited over things you enjoy. It shows that you care and put heart into something." He emitted a light shrug, in which he watched through the water's reflection. He hadn't stared at himself in awhile, and he was always amazed to see his father's crazy traits on himself. He really was something alright. "Salmon are pretty random, I remember my brother and I tried to figure out why the hell they jump so much. Ah well, I guess the world had strange plans for even the smallest of creatures." Still, luckily he was stuck in HIS body, rather then some random fish's.
