Meh third and newest character. Luna_Almagest Name: Lady Marie Eleanor Goodwin Age: 18 Race: Human Gender: Female Height: 5'6 Weight: Befitting of a lovely young woman of her stature. ^_^ Blood Type AB Title: Night of Nyx. (Paladin) Alignment: Dark Weapon(s): Sword of immense darkness. The sharp edges are shiny metal, while the middle is black in color and has many designs around it. The dark part of it pulls in and destroys light. So much light is pulled in that the sword cannot asorb it fast enough and causes the sword's edges to be illuminated in lighted areas. The sword is strong vs light elemental objects and will also weaken light based spells that come in contact with the sword. She also has with her a container of water that is used for making blessed water or for drinking, Usually 3 or so vials of blessed water, ready for use, and a small dagger for use when needed. Origins: Western Gaia Description: Blond hair, green eyes. She wears a black dress with white designs, and a long black coat. The coat is short sleeved and she has arm guards on each arm. On her legs, she wears black stockings with laces up sides and black boots. She has light skin, and is slim, but has the necessary muscles for sword fighting. Personality: Typically a calm and pleasant woman, she is serious and can seem a little threatening at first. She is brave, courageous, and strong willed. She is a woman of high morals and is a very honest, just, and slow to anger. When irritated or challenged she will not back down and will fight fiercely. Though she will kill, she will not do it to a non-evil entity or to a human in general without a good reason. She is not always serious, and will become relaxed in a setting she knows is peaceful. In such a setting, she seems to be a innocent and sweet lady, which she is, but will instantly switch back to her serious demeanor at the first hint of trouble. She is mostly driven by her faith, though she does have some ambition to become more powerful. This is just so she can better combat evil. She is vey compassionate and will protect others at any cost. History: Marie was born in a small city in western gaia to a priest and priestess of Dark. The city is centered around a temple to a dark element spirit known as Nyx. The city was formed by magi and citizens formerly associated with the city of Lumina. As users of the Dark element became corrupted and began doing evil acts and creating undead abominations with their powers, a group spoke out against them. As they had the support of neither of the 4 heads of Darkness, they broke off from the city and went to form their own city where they could preserve the purity of following the spirits. They built their own temple to worship Nyx, whom they considered to be the goddess of night, and the most powerful dark spirit. The city has since become a place that the truly devout followers of the dark spirit come to, and a place where Dark is just an element and not a source for evil. A large part of the population of the city are magi and paladin. The paladin are holy warriors who swear to protect the city with their life and soul. They are blessed by the spirit and can use special techniques and minor magic. The best and most devout of the paladin may earn the title "Knight of Nyx," where upon they blessed with a item from Nyx herself and may go out into the world to help others when needed. Marie was raised by her parents to be a priestess of Nyx. Though she was fully dedicated to her religion, she wanted to go around and help others rather than just stay in a temple all her life. She began training with the warriors who protected her town and was eventually dubbed a paladin by the head priest, and after undergoing trials to prove her ability and faith, joined the ranks of those known as known as the Knights of Nyx. She was blessed with a holy sword, with great Dark elemental properties. Given her already somewhat developed magical powers, she is somewhat stronger than most paladins in the magical aspects, but she is not the best warrior of them. Still, she is capable and it is thought that she has the potential to become great. Currently, she travels around, looking for places where she is needed. She particularly likes slaying monsters, more so because she likes combat rather than liking killing things, even evil ones. She does fairly well and since she helps as much as she can in anything, she is usually rewarded greatly. While not rich, she keeps enough to get around. She is still somewhat young and has some experience, but she has much to learn. She hopes to become much greater in her skills. Notes about paladins: She is holy, can bless water to make it holy, and can damage evil creatures better with some attacks. She can also make use of blessings, which are temporary enhancements brought on by prayer. (Actually, they're pretty much based on the paladin auras from Diablo 2) Her sword techs are a combination of holy power and dark element. Approved by: Sey

Just moving this down a bit to give V the space he needs... Back, and younger than before, it's Sol! Name: Sol Ascardel Age: 22 Race: Human Gender: Male Height: 5' 11" Weight: 157 lbs Title: Sage of Light Weapons: A simple bo staff, used normally as a walking stick, it is an even 6' in length, and made of fire hardened cedar, cleaned and polished to a near shine. The weapon is meant simply to defend himself against others, and to 'enlighten' those who are lost in the darkness of ignorance. Upon his back is also carried a jo staff, 4' in length, and composed of the same materials, and made in the same way. This secondary staff also composes the main support of his pack, as the simple cloth bag is often tied to the staff and tied across the back of his shoulders during his travels. Origins: Western Gaia Description: Sol is what some might refer to as a 'pretty boy', most of his life having been sheltered either by his wealthy parents or simply by virtue of spending a decade living in a temple of healers. He is a bit pale in complexion, and has equally pale green eyes. He is thin, though not boney, very much what you would expect from the stereotype of a mage. His hair, auburn in color and at a length that runs halfway down his back, is usually bound together at about shoulder level, pulling the bundle together just at the end, and leaving the rest to hang loosely about him. More often than not he is dressed in the robes of his office, mostly white and in a style more eastern than western, the robes are trimmed with red fabric and designs that state his rank so that the students which wander about the temple will easily be able to recognize him if they need something. Personality: Sol has devoted his life to the teachings of the light, justice, purity, and above all, truth. He will tolerate no dishonesty in his life or his presence, and focuses his efforts upon bringing knowledge to those that lack it. He is known to be stern at times, though more often than not his disposition remains lighthearted and kind, a warm smile almost ever-present upon his face. He believes strongly that each person has their own path to take, and their own decisions to make, and is reluctant to make decisions for others because of this, though he is always willing to provide an opinion when asked, and advice when needed. History: Sol was born of a noble family residing in Laburnum City, the city of light. His upbringing was that of a traditional noble child, education by the finest tutors money could buy, good food, fine clothes, and shelter from all things, including reality. As it often is, the members of the upper caste never truly are allowed to see what it is that goes on all around them, they are blinded by their own security, and never give a second thought to those below them who suffer away from their sight. Sol was among these ignorant people, until one day when his sight was broadened by a visitor. He was 11, his parents away on business to Avalana, all that was left in the manor was himself, his older brother, and three servants. A man came to the gates, requesting shelter for the night and a meal in exchange for nothing more than his thanks. The man was immediately recognized by the servants, due to his white robes, as a Mage of the Light and was welcomed in accordingly. Throughout his stay, the man more than payed off his debt to his gracious hosts by regaling them with the accounts of his travels, including one visit he had made to the Kyuuden. "And there I was, some ragged looking traveler, marching up to the gates of the Kyuuden and asking for breakfast!" he had shouted aloud, bursting into laughter only seconds later. "Had the Shogun not been so kind, I'd have likely starved to death that day." "That's so heroic!" Sol had exclaimed upon hearing this, "Braving hunger out in the wilderness... wow." The man’s laughter stopped then, and he turned his attention to the boy that had praised him so highly for having nothing to eat. "If hunger is heroic, lad, then there are many more than me you should be praising." "What do you mean?" the young Sol replied, completely oblivious to the truth behind the man's words, "There is always food here... you only go hungry on long journeys." "My lad..." he began, "there is much that you cannot see from your home, if you're willing to listen, I can tell you of the world..." Over the course of the next few days, more knowledge came to Sol than he had gained in his entire life of study, knowledge of the world, of the people, and of reality. When his parents returned home, they found him quite changed. He no longer held the world as a place where all things were at ease as a boy should at his age, he had seen poverty, hunger, and strife, and he asked his parents, "Why?" Two years passed, and Sol left home. He had decided upon his course, and was set upon it. He would no longer allow the world to hide itself away from him or any others. He left for the temple, to train as the man who came before him had done, and to become a bringer of truth, a Follower of Light. For the better part of his life he trained his mind, body, and spirit with the priests at the temple, alongside others like him who had come to witness the truth. 9 years passed there, helping those who came in seek of aid, traveling out to find those who didn't, all in the name of truth. "We are protectors of the helpless," his friend had once said to him, "And that makes us strong." With that, Sol raised his hand and struck his staff quickly to his friend's forehead. "What was that for?" He had asked, rubbing the lump on his brow. "You were mistaken about your own strength," Sol replied with a sigh, "I simply showed you the truth." "But it hurt..." whined the man, still caressing his injury. Sol simply smiled and said, "Sometimes the truth hurts, my friend." Approved by: Sey

Finally, it's finished! xp Angel's Bio Name: Angelbell Age: 20 Race: Kitsune Gender: Female Height: 5'2" Weight: 115 Title: White Magi/Summoner Alignment: Light Elemental Spirit Angelbell primarily heals, and casts light spells. Her secondary ability is that she can summon Medea. Medea can cast earth and water spells. Angel cannot summon Medea often, as it takes away a lot of her energy to do so. Medea is human looking. She has long silver hair and blue eyes. She carries a wooden staff to cast her spells. Her earth spell is a mega earth quake, causing the ground to split into the depths of hell. The earth can crack at about 10 feet wide and 15 feet long. When she casts a water spell it comes from her wand as a mammoth title wave, able to give some minor damage to those in its path. The wave covers about 20 feet and it is in the pattern of a cone. The spells that Medea casts aren't overly powerful. They can do small damage, not enough to kill. An example diagram is below. __ | ---\ | ----\ | -----\ | ------|--Medea | -----/ | ----/ |__/ Weapons: Angel wears a pendant around her neck, known as Aphrodite's Pearl. It strengthens her magic, and is used to summon Medea. If taken off her magic weakens and inhibits her from summoning. Origin: Eastern Description: Angelbell has red wavy hair that hangs down to the middle of her back. Only it's rarely seen, as she mostly tries to keep it braided. Her eyes are strikingly blue, and her skin porcelain white. She lacks the strength for any battle, as she only stands at 5'2" and weighs in at 115 lbs. There is a pearl necklace that hangs from her neck, barely visible. Only the ones that are close to her know much about its worth and existence. She wears a colorful kosode with long flowing sleeves. The kosode is a beautiful aqua shimmer with bright floral and butterfly embroidery. Personality: Angelbell is very ambitious; some would even mistake her for being snotty, considering the wealthy family she comes from. On the contrary she’s quite the opposite, willing to help her friends and family at any given length. Now at the age of 20 she has landed in Barton Town, still hunting for this vampire, but also keeping still as she has met some wonderful people. History: Angelbell came from a wealthy family. Her dad is the King of Shinshuukoku a kitsune kingdom. Her mother passed away at the age of 14, killed by vampires that attacked the village. This has become a major reason Angelbell has a fear for vampires, but also despises them. It was a large attack on the kingdom. The head vampires name was Vittoro. He had one thing on his mind and that was power. The main reason for his attack was building his own kingdom. Only it would consist of vampires, nothing more. He never wasted his food, if they gave up too much of a fight they became a feast for his followers. It was merely a cult, he had driven his group to thirst not only blood, but power. That was the downside of living in a powerful kingdom. There was always someone looking to destroy it or take it over. This gave Angel reason to believe she was not made for royalty life. They were always living so guarded behind the castle walls. Her mother always told her, "The grass always looks greener on the other side." She always thought she was right. Her ambitions were not to follow her family footsteps, but to become her own person. From this point of her mother’s death, her father became very overprotective of her. Her father forbidding her to leave the premises of their kingdom without a guard present, at the age of 17, decided to take a leave from her overprotective father, and ran away from home. When she left she wasn’t sure where she was going. Maybe by the fates of the gods, she eventually landed in eastern Gaia. Her father has found her whereabouts, and has sent his guards out to bring her back. There is times she considers giving up, and then there is the times she realizes that her new life is more of what she ever wanted. She was destroyed at the loss of her mother, vowing that she would overcome this fear, and find the vampire, Vittoro, that had taken her mother from her. She has yet to find him still, but when she's about the streets of Gaia she finds small amounts of information on him. He isn't far from her, given time she'd find him shortly. Approved by: Sey

Name: Nicholai Maxwell
Age: 23 Race: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 140
Title: Noble (Truthfully an Air Mage, but prefers this title.)
Alignment: Air
Weapon(s): Zephyrus, a light spear used for speed, rather than incredible force. Zephyrus is a wind-imbued lance that is fairly short as spears go, and its blade is long and tear-shaped with a crescent shaped piece of metal at its base. It is known for bearing its own breeze. Also, he can focus his magical energy into magical projectiles, which are used in situations where he needs to keep his distance, or for some reason does not have Zephyrus.
Origins: East/Asia (A small clan village near the western edge of the East, Elunore)
Description: Nicholai has shoulder-length and fine jade hair. He has unslanted, emerald colored eyes, with lids that are fairly open, but not wide. His skin is of pale complexion, like an ivory tone. His build is a slender form, with long legs, and a lengthy stride. His hands have elongated, slender fingers, perfect for playing musical instruments, yet just as good for turning the pages of a book. As far as ears go, his are slightly pointed, and protrude a bit away from his head, at least more so than usual. He has an olive tunic, which ends halfway between his knees and waist, a beige-colored hooded long cloak, and hunter green leggings with brown boots. Always carries with him a pair of spectacles, which are used more as an accessory than for actual use.
Personality: Nicholai has a cheerful and somewhat carefree personality. He looks at thing creatively, rather than analytically, which leads to lack of common sense. With his outgoing personality, he enjoys making friends and socializing rather than hard work. Manual labor is out of the question most of the time. Also, he is a talented multi-tasker, allowing himself to allot the perfect amount of attention to each task to get them done correctly. Finally, he tends to be very dramatic, due to his training in the theatre arts, and uses that talent to control those around him.
History: Nicholai was born the youngest of 3 male children of the Maxwell Mage Clan, the ruling figure of the village he was born in. Thus, he grew up a privileged, and somewhat manipulative child. He was by no means evil, but simply a little conniving. He spent most of his childhood sheltered from the world by his parents, but during his adolescent years, he rebelled against their protection, and spent a week or so traveling by himself. He lost all contact with human life during that time, and by the time he returned had developed a phobia of being alone. This helped mold his personality and lifestyle, making him one of the most outgoing people around. Being the youngest, he was not raised to rule the family, but rather trained as a noble, in arts such as riding, high literature, music, and theatre. Being exposed to fine arts as a child was an particularly forceful influence in his life, and for some period of time, he worked in his clan as an entertainer. This was never his true passion, though. Around age 14, he began training in the art of magic, and this soon became his driving force in life. He began to spend very little of his time doing “noble” activities, but rather delved into honing his spell casting. After a few years, he discovered he had an affinity for wind and air, so he decided that he would study it as a lifestyle. At his 20th birthday, he left his family, and sought out Air Temples across the East. This opened his eyes to Air Magic as lifestyle, rather than just a tool, and thus confirmed his desire to become an Air Mage. He is now seeking to gain reputation as an Air Mage, rather than just as a noble.

Name: Tayui Age: 17 Race: Were Vamp (You remember this, ne?) Human: Tayui is human in the ways others are- she bleeds, she can be killed, she eats, drinks and sleeps. Tayui requires less sleep then humans, and can go for two days without sleep before she feels the effect of drowsiness. Vampire:Tayui has little thirst for blood, but she does heal faster then a human could. Although, she does enkjoy the taste of blood. She could live off it if she had the need. Although, doing such a thing would eliminate most of her human mind. What would take a pure human to heal from, Tayui would be able to heal a bit quicker. Tayui has a strong endurance from her vampire part, but she can still be killed. Holy simbols have little effect on Tayui- next to none. Were:Tayui is not effected by the turning of the full moon as most weres are. Since she is not directly connected to weres, she can't transform and such, but she can sense when other weres are near. Tayui can still keep control of her senses, as many weres are unable to control their rages, but during a full moon, Tayui can be easily aggravated Gender: Female Height: 5'8 Weight: 148 Title: Swordswoman Alignment: Fire Spirit Weapon(s): 1 Broadsword, 4 knives, 2 daggers, 1 double-bladed (or headed) war axe & 2 1-foot sais. Origins: Western Gaia (Europe) Description: Tayui wears a black sleevless t-shirt most of the time, and black cargo pants along with that. She has milky white hair with a streak of tan in it. Her skin is tanned, and has a leathered and worn look to it. Around her waist she has an unusual broadsword, two 1-foot Esyptian Sai's, a dagger and concealed are 2 more daggers and 4 other knives. Her arms are bandaged as a result of a first degree burn. She has a large gash over her right eye, another large scar on her shoulder, one on her hip and many others that are not visible. Her right eye is a striking colour. It is orange near the pupil and slowly spreads out making her eye look red. Her left eye is an icey blue. It seems as though her eyes reflect her varied personalities. Tayui is that of a stocky, more muscular build than most females. She has rather broad shoulders and a hard-worn look to her. Personality: Tayui is rarely seen with but one personality. She has many sides. She can be dark, somewhat bitter, bold, blunt, rude, strong, unorthdox, prideful & courageous. She can be firey and hot-tempered at times, other times cool and collected and even... fun and happy. She's more firey tempered most of the time. She is alo quite subtle, and at times remorseful. Tayui!History: Tayui was only 12 years old when odd things started happening. Odd occurances like small drops of blood found on hand railings, mud marks in the bedrooms, and many things were being stolen. It was when A neighbor of hers was killed that Tayui got suspicious. Normally, Tayui was used to odd things. Her family originated from a bloodline of werewolves and vampires. One of her great grandfathers had been a werewolf. Over time, their family brought vampires and humans into the family. She'd get odd visitors, and her parents constantly asking for her to fetch the strangest things. A month after her neighbors death, the killer struck again. This time, the murder was even worse then the last. The police had found the body in a corner, slashed and cut up with a knife. The second person murdered had their body disposed of in a ravine a kilometre from the house. The head and hands were missing. In another monthes time, three more neightbors and one of Tayui's cousins were killed. Tayui needed to find out what was going on. Her favourite brother, Dagiel, was acting stranger and stranger. Tayui followed him into the woods near her house, and she couldn't belive what she saw. In deep hole, sheltered by many trees were the bodies of the dead. Drained of the blood. The odd thing was, a steady fire was going next to the bodies. Tayui saw her brother pull another body out and drain the blood. Her best friend. Sickened, Tayui ran back home. There, she hid in her room for three days. She got out her fathers old daggers and began to train. When Tayui game out of her room on the fourth day, her mother was gone. Police were all over the house. Tayui was frightened. Tayui's family was transported to another home. While they were there, four more were killed after a week of being there. They returned home. Now, Tayui's mother, two sisters, one brother and best friend were dead, not to mention the neighbors. When Tayui and her family arrived home, she stalkedoff to where she had seen the bodies. There was now all the ones that had been killed before, plus the ones killed at the other house. Tayui hid in her room for four more days, practicing throwing knives and other things. When she came out afterwards, Tayui saw Dagiel kill her brothers and father before her eyes. She tried to hide back in her room, but Dagiel had seen her. Tayui struggled, but Dagiel got the upper hand. Him being around 19, and Tayui's 13th birthday coming up, she didnt have much of an advantage. Tayui only had two small knives. Dagiel twisted her arm and started to drag Tayui out to where the bodies were. Tayui fought him the whole way, only to be rewarded with a bloody arm. They arrived to the spot where the bodies were hidden five minutes later. Tayui shrunk away at the heat. Dagiel just grinned and dragged her closer to the enormous fire. Dagiel now grabbed Tayui and started to drag a knife down her shoulder to her fingers. Tayui couldn't take it. She unsheathed her knife and stabbed him in the stomach with her free hand. She kicked him near the fire, getting dragged to the fire also. Tayui struggled, but Dagiel held fast. She tripped, and they both fell into the fire. Tayu let out a scream, as the fire began the lick at her arms. Tayui struggled, and Dagiel finally let go. Tayui ran through the forest, only turning around in time to see Dagiel push himself out of the flames and collapse. The fire roared madly, comng towards Tayui. Tayui scrambled up the hill, towards the gates. Tayui was too far from the house to open the gates, and the fire was approaching fast. Tayui ran over to the spot where she was able to crawl under the fence. She ran. For three years she had been running. This is her fourth. Through her journies, she came across her ruby sword, her two daggers and four knives. Doing odd jobs, Tayui got enough money to her two sais. Tayui turned 17 only recently. Dagiel had followed her and found her on her 13th birthday. Tayui just barely got away, bringing a large scar across her eye. Tayui was eventually able to scrape up enough money to go to Australia. It took her those 3 years of running, but she did it. Tayui had arrived near the end of the burnings. People fled. Tayui stole. And now she merely wanders. Oi! It's Max's bio, so listen up! scream Name: Oliver Squalle Age: 22 Race: Human Gender: Male Height: 6' Weight: 191 lbs. Title: Mariner...? Alignment: Element of Water Weapon(s): A 7' long spear which doubles as a bindle. It is an inch and a half in circumphrance and made of polished oak. Two runes of water are etched in the haft of the weapon where one might usually clasp it; the glyphs cause a symbiosis with water that prevents drowning when the owner of the spear is in possession of the weapon, and in danger of said end to his mortal life. The blade of the spear is roughly ten-inches long and made of a gray-blue metal, probably steel, and is double-edged; one side is serrated and jagged, and the other razor sharp. Ninety-percent of the time, the spear serves the more conventional use of carrying a bindle, with all the bare necessities of life inside. Other than the spear-and-bindle, he carries little. Tucked into the back of his pants in a sheath is a long knife, used when combat becomes too close for his pole-arm. Origins: Western Gaia - or more specifically, Turtle Rock. Description: Blonde hair so sun-bleached it looks to be almost white caps a tanned head which always seems to be wearing an infectious smile. Oliver's sparkling blue eyes, a tint of green reflected in the watery orbs that makes them look like two tiny tide-pools, always hold a merry twinkle which can't help but make other people feel at ease; peaceful. A black-ink, tribal tattoo climbs and winds its way up Oliver's leg and torso, finally coming to a halt on his neck, a sharp branch of the body-marking ending abruptly on the right side of his throat. The tattoo's canvas is a marvelously toned and carved body, pounded into near-perfect physically shape by hours upon days of swimming and hard-work. In the palm of his left hand is a tattoo of a sun and in the palm of the right is a strange curl pattern, the elemental symbol for water. Obviously a former mariner of some sort, he wears a tight, faded tan vest with faint signs of black thread weaved in the back in the shape of a sun and the same water symbol as before on the chest. His pants are black and rugged, tucked into tough old sea-boots at about mid-shin. On his head he almost constantly wears a old black beanie which covers his ears and stops just short of the ridge of his eyebrow, and yet again, the sun symbol is weaved into the beanie in white thread. Tom's stark blonde hair pokes out around the dark hat, and altogether, his outfit gives him a very 'fisherman meets skater' persona. Personality: Flippant and rather airy, and sometimes down-right ditzy, yet when all are combined with his cheery demeanor and sparkling personality, Oliver is just straight-up charming. He has a very strange and quirky sense of humor, and it is quite hard to tell when he is being serious, and when he is joking around; his intelligence is much the same. He's laid-back and relaxed to the extreme, known to ask for 'nap-breaks' during fights; he's - as the kids say now-a-days - 'chill'. It's hard to believe that such a nice guy would be so deadly with his harpoon-like spear... History: Oliver's history is a little short because...well...he aint too old, savvy? His life leading up to where it is right now has been relatively uneventful, but in its own way, has been more than enough to keep him occupied. There is a little island deep, deep into the watery reaches of the ocean to the west of Avalana called Turtle Rock, so remote and small that it isn't even on most maps. It gained its name from the odd shape of the island; ridged and ovular, kind of looking like an oversized turtle shell protruding from the water. To those who know of the island - and they are few in number - it is widely admired for its masterful fisherman and crop of the extremely rare tequil ore - translated: Metal of the Sea. When heated and molded, the ore becomes a metal so very strong and light, some say it is solidified water - but only in jest. Oliver was born into a family of ore-divers; the inhabitants of Turtle Rock entrusted with the secret location and methods of mining the precious metal. Although most people would find the excitement of discovering an ore that sustains the welfare of an entire town of mariners, Tom found it to be rather mundane and tedious; too strict and confining for a free spirit like him. He endured, though, for twenty long years, completing his training and indentured service to his family and town as a strong, resilient young man. The men of his town usually spent the rest of their 'free' years on the sea, fishing and acting as ferry-men from Eastern to Western Gaia, but Oliver had a different interest...one with gentle curves and long hair...a pair of breasts and delicate features...oh yeah, he like-a da ladies. Taking the common lecherous motives of most young men to an extreme extent, Oliver ignored the pleading of his friends and family and prepared to leave Turtle Rock, off to find adventure and women in the far-off lands of continental Gaia. ...but ol' Oliver couldn't leave home empty-handed, could he? The inhabitants of Turtle Rock were in possession of a great weapon, a relic of Water-power found in the depths of the ocean long ago. This item was a holy symbol the simple fisherman, but being the impulsive young man that he was, Oliver thought he would put it to much better use in the 'wild' lands of Western Gaia. He stole the relic in the dead of night and fled from the island, sparing himself 'tearful good-byes', so he says. It stands to reason, though, that the master mariners would pursue him, doesn't it? But in one of Olivers spurts of intelligence, he chose the night of a tremendous hurricane to flee from his home, convincing himself that his 'superior' nautical skills would keep him alive in the rough water. He quickly discovered he was a ignoramus, though, as he was almost instantaneously vomited from his ship like last night's dinner. ... A few days later, Oliver awoke on the coast of Avalana amidst a pile of wooden debris, and miraculously, still had the stolen spear in hand. As he rose to his feet, a great calm washed over the young man, and he felt strangely...peaceful. All his worries, his cares, just...washed away, borne from his being on a gentle swell of Water. A deep sigh escaped his lips as a pool of water gathered at his feet, the moisture from his drenched clothes leaving him as if by its own will. A little smile crawled over Oliver's face as he slung the spear over his shoulders and hooked his arms over the shaft, feeling oddly at peace with...everything. Casting one last look over his shoulder at the ocean, the color of the great body of water reflected in his newly-changed eyes, the strong young mariner strode forth into the land of Gaia, an easy swing in his hips and a calm, almost non-existent bounce in his step. Although he didn't notice it, a tattoo - not one of the two that already existed on his hands - now crawled up his body from his left ankle to the right of his throat, graceful and arcing like the waves of the ocean... Name: Lione Rutherford
Nickname: Tarrasque
Age: ??
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 180
Hair: Black
Eyes: Gray
Blood Type: O
Class: Priest of Darkness Magic
Origins: Europe (Magic from Asia)
Weapon: An old wizened looking stave that was once used by his father; he had taken it after his disappearance. The stave has runic carvings into its old wood, but aside from making it more durable as a walking stick it does not seem to have any magical powers.
Personality: Dark and brooding, putting personal gain above even the safety of others. However, this does not mean he cannot have friends; a common trait among his type, he is fiercely loyal to those who are lucky enough to procure his friendship. If he is not currently on one of his personal geas, that would interfere, he may assist those in need. Especially if it may be advantageous to him in some way. Most that are not close to him would consider him, by all accounts, evil. Yet he is still young, impressionable, and very curious in his pursuit of the dark magics.
History: His father Victor Rutherford The Dark as he was known. Rutherford was a ruthless man slaying anyone who get in his way on his climb to power. Yet when he met a young women by the name of Lilia Kioa he was tamed it would seem. His luster for the dark magic was stunted and their relationship blossomed. Until the fateful night when young Lione was born into the world. Lilia died giving birth to Lione and Victor was devastated, in his devastated state he turned back to the Dark magics re-mastering what he had almost forgotten about. Lione was raised by his father, while at the same time his father was researching his magical pursuits. Thus at a young age Lione gained an untameable interest in the art of dark magic like his father. He studied long and hard at a young age missing out on all of the childhood pleasures that may have changed his outlook on life. Except when he met a young girl in the streets when he saved her from a terrible fate. He was only testing his powers out at the time but something possesed him to ask her to come with him back to the castle. Lione and young Kris became fast friends helping eachother with their studies. Secretly he had grown quite fond of Kris but was to cowardly to tell her.
About this time his life took a turn as his father became fascinated with the highest of the darkness spells. His father rarely took a step out of his library where he did his research and then one day in the middle of the night he up and left his son. At this point his father was quite obsessed with his study and disappeared deep into the wild from where his fate is unknown. After his fathers sudden disappearance he was adopted by a poor family where he was restricted from practicing any of his magic. However, before he was taken away he gave a staff to Kris to remember him by. When he turned the age of 17 he received an un-addressed letter. In the letter was a small piece of paper giving him directions to the city of Lumina and to The Temple of Darkness. Overly excited at this he ran away from his foster family which he hated and set off for the city.
On his way he met many strange characters, one of which was particular influence on the young man. His name was Arthur, Arthur was a very peculiar master thief. Among their time spent together they learned that there destination was the same, the City of Lumina. Arthur was an excellent friend for young Lione even though he was much older then the 17 year old. Arthur though Lione what he would need to know to survive without using main-stream trading and also thought him about the black market. Now granted Lione was never the best at using these because he spent to much time thinking about his magic but none the less it would become increasingly useful as he grew in power. Another contribution Arthur had given Lione was his nickname the nickname was Tarrasque. Tarrasque is the name of a legendary beast that would terrorize the country-side. Upon reaching the town the two parted ways maybe to never see each other again but Lione had other things on his mind like his search for The Temple of Darkness.
Using the tricks Arthur had thought him, he learned the location of the temple and now climbs it's stairs noticing a small boy. As if knowing he was looking for the school, the boy wearing the midnight black robes of the school suddenly appears before him and grabs his hand. After a good run, the boy suddenly stops and yells out to the darkness, getting a loud creak in reply. A torch suddenly flares up and the pale features of the boy are revealed to him as he bows low.

Name: Slifer
Age: 16
Race: Neko
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 140 lb
Title: Rogue
Alignment: Fire Elemental
Weapon(s): A Katana. The Katana has a black blade, but red runes are marked upon it. It supposedly has the power of flame, yet Slifer doesn't know about it, let alone how to use it. Sometimes however when fighting with it he gets a strange feeling, but nothing more. The handle of the katana is black leather. This is the only real valueble he has
Origins: He Originates from Eastern Gaia, yet he hasn't found an alliance. If pushed he would support East.
Description: He has thin black straggly hair hanging over his face. Sometimes it parts naturally down the middle but most times it is messy. He has blue eyes that shine like the ocean, crystal and clear. He has peachy skin, usually dirty from all the travelling he does. He has rosy red lips, uncracked. Ontop of his head are a pair of cat eats, ginger and furry. Poking out from his behind is a tail, although when travelling in towns he keeps his hood up and his tail concealed. He tries to be normal. He wears somewhat black rags. Large and to big for him. Over these garments he wears a large green cloak, when he travels in the East's Tundra's. This is where most of his training takes place. In caves, knocking down Stalacites. His Katana is strapped around his waist with a belt, once again to large. It is wrapped twice around him and slants diagonally slightly. His boots are leather and in bad condition. He carries a pack with him in it he keeps supplies like matches and gloves.
Personality: Slifer is somewhat of a loner who doesnt want to be alone. He thinks he would be rejected because of his race, so he stays away from humans. He yearns to have company yet subconsciously he disallows himself. He covers up this yearning by acting hard and tough.
History: Slifer was born just at the border of Eastern Gaia. He was born in an barn, owned by farmers. His mother, whom was also a Neko died in labour and his father, dead before he was born. Slifer knows little about his father, his race or age. He believes he was a human. He believes this because sometimes he has doubts and fear, something a Neko shouldn't have, or so he is told.
The farmers, whose barn he was born in, felt sorry for the lad, so they brought him into their family. Slifer grew up fairly normal, just as an average human would.
10 years later on his birthday he had settled in like family. On that same day however Western Gaians invaded the farm. They slaughtered the whole family, and would have had him had he not hidden in a cupboard. After they pillaged the place Slifer saw the damage. Not one animal, human or crop was left standing. He broke down in the middle of a fiery blaze. After crying for what must have been hours, watching the flames die down, looking at the ashes, he noticed something. Amongst the ashes lay a sword.
He picked it up and examined it. A note was attached to the handle, barely legible yet it read along the lines of, happy birthday, son. Gripping the sword in his hand he swore revenge on his family. Gathering a few gold coins he set out in the world.
After preparing himself for adventure he set out. He spent the next six years training in the West and East, keeping to himself, not getting attached. He supported no King or Emporer, lived by his own rules. Fuelled by revenge. Now he seeks to find out the killers of his family. Now he seeks Vengence.
He is a rogue because he doesn't follow any system of rules. When he was younger it got him into alot of trouble. He didn't care much at the time. He doesn't care about alot anymore, just vengence by the sword of his family.

Yuri Lasaiev
Age: 20
Race: Human (Half-Dryad)
Gender: Male
Weight: 155
Height: 5’11
Alignment: Earth
Class: Poet (Geomancer)
Weapon(s): Sabatini, the Whistling Pole; a 6’4” battle stick. It is made from his mother’s tree, and thus retains a golden wood color. It is a flexible staff, which allows it to be used to aid motion as well battle, some obvious uses being vaulting and such. It is wrapped from the middle outward about 2.5’ for gripping, and has small holes bored into it after the gripping ends, which causes the staff to produce whistling-like musical tones when moved quickly. Finally, due to its magical wood, it can be used to magnify his geomancy powers.
Origins: A tree. (Seriously!) More technically, he was born in a town called Ci’laar. It was mostly forest, with a small gathering of houses in the center of the massive woods. Western Gaia.
Description: Yuri is a fairly slender young man, with a soft face. He has a thick mass of shoulder length brown hair, which is usually worn down, but is occasionally pulled into a tail behind his head. He has soft, dreamy eyes, green in color, which are hidden behind long lashes. He is just a little more slender than average, with average looking appendages. His facial features, as said above, are soft and innocent looking. He wears a whitish shirt-tunic, which has a colorful pattern of interlocking triangles at the end, with white colored, slightly curvy pants (rounded flares at the ends). He treads in plain, white shoes with slightly curled ends. His forehead has a small, colorfully adorned headband across it, (the pattern resembling that of the edge of his shirt-tunic). Finally, he bears a long, white travel cloak that wraps around his body most of the time.
Personality: Yuri is a very polite and well-mannered man. He possesses a very shy demeanor, and thus does not do well when around strangers. He is most comfortable in nature, and often finds himself rambling to trees and plants. He is very creative, but also has a level head on his shoulders. He is also an advocate of working with others. He may be shy, but he really feels most confident when he is laboring with others, because he knows that if he makes a mistake, he has friends to support and aid him. Finally, he believes that nothing is impossible, and is extremely optimistic.
History: Yuri was born from an unorthodox union of a dryad and a human. His father, Alexei Lasaiev, was an accomplished minstrel of his era, and had simply been roaming the countryside, blissful and carefree, when he reached a small lagoon in the deep forest where Ci’laar resides, and he saw a waif-like young woman sat. She had deep green eyes, which Yuri bears as reminder of his heritage, and golden hair. Alexei was smitten with her from the moment he saw her, and rushed to speak with her. One thing led to another, and their passion resulted with the birth of Yuri within a few months. After his birth, she left her love and her child and fled from Ci’laar. Alexei settled down in Ci’laar to raise his new little child. Yuri grew up an aloof child, rarely playing with other children, but rather, talking to the plants and animals around his home. Alexei was concerned for his child’s sanity at the time, but realized that he was still only a child. As he grew, he began to exercise his creative juices, and became renowned as a minstrel in his village, and his father was suddenly very proud of his son, though he was slightly saddened, as watching him grow reminded him of his love every day. Yuri’s talent was to be expected of him, and he was very happy to oblige the wishes and expectations of the villagers. During the summer of Yuri’s 15th year, he found he was hearing voices calling to him in the forest. At first, he dismissed them as mere figments of his imagination, but they grew stronger, pulling his attentions away from everything else. After growing tired of their pestering, he followed their whims, and he was led to a lagoon in the forest, the same one where his father had been so long ago. Beside it, though, was a massive golden brown willow. It drooped over the water in an almost mother-like embrace, and he felt warmth and kindness while sitting beside it. He felt like he was home. He sat in its shade, and listened to its voice. It spoke to him in soft tones, and he learned everything he needed to know of himself. This willow had once been his mother. He embraced it, with tears in his eyes, and listened to it soothe him with words of comfort. He knew he must leave her soon, so he asked for a gift from her, to remember her by. She bore for him a special staff infused with the power from her own wood, giving him a piece of her to carry with him. He named it Sabatini, after the mother he never knew, and would never meet as a human. He returned to his father, armed with the truth. His father merely smiled and said he was glad that Yuri could tell him the truth of his lover, and then left the house to go cry by himself. Yuri knew at that moment he needed to go forge his wings in the world, finding the rock of his life as unstable as anything else. He left his father with only his talent, Sabatini, and the clothes on his back. Yuri has wandered Avalana for the past 5 years as a traveling poet and minstrel, earning enough money to survive, but not much more. His fame has grown considerably, but he is still not as renowned as his father was, or as some of the other bards. He has lived his life so far in symbiosis with nature, using it as his greatest supporter and ally. His ability to use its power as his own grows stronger each day. Yuri is currently roaming the world in search of enlightenment.

Let's rock this joint!! Name: Lao Fei Zhu Age: 24 Race: Human Gender: Male Height: 5' 9" Weight: 185 Title: Defender of the Koukiyo (Martial Artist) Alignment: Water Elemental Spirit Weapons: Fei usually carries a Kan Dao (a 24" broadsword used in Wushu Kung Fu) with him. However, he is known to be proficient at a variety of weapons, including the naginata and katana, as well as a few western fencing techinques. Needless to say, his fists and feet do most of the talking, but when the situation calls, he can and will improvise. Origin: Koukiyo, Eastern Gaia Description: His lightly tanned skin denotes that he has seen the better part of life, spending most of his time outside. He has his family's black hair that, when untied, hangs past his shoulders to the middle of his back. His sapphire eyes are as deep as the oceans, and convey a ray of cheer even when times are bleak. His body is lean but well toned and muscular, showing no scars or bruises, save for the minor ones on his forearms from blocking practice at a young age, and rough hands from training with both the fist and the sword. Personality: A taciturn man with a strong sense of integrity and dicipline, but a light hearted nature about him. He is not afraid to speak his mind at times, no matter how big the risk. Quite fond of the daughter and sons of the Kaikou, regarding them as if they were his own, and loyal to the family which he swore to protect with his life. He is much like water in the fact that he can change between his personalities when the situation calls for it, but one should fear when there is no personality or emotion from him at all... for it is all in his fists, or whatever weapon he may have at the time, and it becomes quite difficult to stop him from tearing into the recipient of his frozen gaze. History: A young man who was born and raised in the vicinity of the Koukiyo, and whose family had a history of serving the Kaikou. Their unarmed combat techniques were as of yet unmatched, even by some of the fiercest and most dedicated daimyo in the land. Proud of his history once he learned of it, he stated at the age of six that he was going to begin training. However, all during his training, he had a love for the element of water. He loved it's chill in the heat, and playing in the waves. He loved all who were in the water, and the friends that he made while going swimming. His mother, teachers, and even his friends noticed this, and loved him for it as well, seeing as he was happy and usually joked most of the time. Playful, like water. He shouted one day in front of everyone, "Someday, I'm gonna be like water!" It was even requested that he journey to the Temple of Water and study how to use this element for the greater good. However, he refused politely, requesting that he continue his training. "Don't get me wrong- I like people who use water magic. Most of my friends go to the temple. But I want to finish my training. I'll be like water... just not that way." For the next nine years, he practiced and perfected the art, soon becoming his family's Grand Master at the young age of 15. His true path, however, began during a demonstration before Takiyagami Kaikou, when one of the daimyo, impressed at his proficiency, challenged Fei to a match. "How about this- you seem pretty well-trained. I would like to try my sword against you, if you wish." "I humbly accept," He said with a respectful bow to the samurai. The battle was fierce, yet fair. Lao marvled at the speed and precision of his opponent's attacks, and the calm manner in which he executed them, while the daimyo was impressed by the young master's dedication. The two warriors held nothing back... and yet, just as in his family's history, Fei had bested him. As the two stood and bowed, he was told by Takiyagami, "You are the youngest of your family to best one of my best. This deserves a gift. If it is in my power, and within reasonable bounds, I shall give." He wanted only one thing... "This man... may I learn from him?" The daimyo did not show it, but was pleased to hear it. "Yes, sir. Allow me the honor of teaching him our Way." The Shogun gave, and Lao practiced the art of Kenjutsu for four years straight. Soon, he showed a natural aptitude and general respect for the weapon and the art, and mastered it handily. When asked if he wanted to join the ranks of the Personal Guard, just as his forefathers did before, he was elated. "Nothing would please me more." After one year of service, he asked the Shogun personally for a leave of abscence. "I would like to observe other countries in order to have a better understanding of this world. I will learn from them, absorb everything I can, and return here in no more than four years to serve you again." Though it was a long time to be without him, Takiyagami gave the okay. For the next four years, he did just that... travel the world and learn what he could- everything he could- while at the same time throwing out what he did not need. After four years of wandering and learning, he had returned, ready for duty again. After a demonstration of his skills, his family and the shogun were awed. He had created his own style, not resorting to just one method of fighting. It was efficent to the point where it was almost a science... yet retained it's artful form. At this point, it was clear who the captain of his guard would be, for they had lost their former chief to an illness. Humbled beyond words, he bowed deeply. "I am ready to serve, and will not fail you, my lord." Current Story:Due to his current service in the Royal Guard, as well as his impeccable record of service in the past, he has recently been granted the task of personally guarding Seyumi Kaikou, which he took with gratitude. He knew that she was attending classes at Laburnum's Light Temple, and decided to pay her a visit. He not only ran into her, but was also graced with seeing Hikaru, her older brother- though he was not in the best of moods at seeing his sister out of class. There seemed to be something else bothering the second son: an ambassador from Western Gaia was hosting dinner, and as the Koukiyo's representative in the Shogun's stead, Hikaru was to attend. Lao asked to accompany them, as recompense for allowing her to leave unattended. Besides, there were eyes everywhere- evil, malicious ones that would jump at the chance to spark the flames of war by crashing the dinner party. He was admitted, and headed toward the meeting place with them. As he approached the entourage, another familliar face appeared- Alcyone Teshigahara, who was obviously displeased with his lack of dicipline on the matter of Sey's defense, and stripped him of his position post-haste. He humbly accepted however, and is now in the security detail. Perhaps he can make up for his losses in this task... Past RPing Experience:Approved By: TheMightyJello

Name: Vahn Stormblade
Age: 19
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5'11''
Weight: 195 lbs
Title: Knight in Training
Alignment: Fire Elemental
Weapon(s): Vahn carries around a large broadsword at all times possible. The sword is large and heavy, with a blade approximately 5' long with a handle about 1' long. The blade is made from a mysterious steel alloy and appears to be a very dark grey color, almost black. The handle is wrapped in a red fabric with gold trim, and at the end of the handle, there is a small loop that holds a chain connected to a small charm in the shape of a kite sheild.
Vahn also carries around a large curved dagger that resembles a shortened scimitar. There are no distinguishable features about the craft of this blade except for a small geometric circular hole at the base of the blade.
Origins: Western Gaia.
Description: Vahn has a gentle looking face, with blonde hair and unusual light green eyes. He often looks sad or unemotional. He is unusually thin, but has well toned muscles to the point where he looks athletic, but not "beefy". He has a mysterious look to him though, because of his lack of showing emotion, it is hard to tell what he is thinking.
Personality: Vahn is cold towards most humans. He has felt betrayal from his fellow man once to often to maintain good faith in humanity. It takes time to gain his trust and when around someone he can't trust he will say no more than absolutely necessary. In battle, Vahn is particularly aggressive.
After someone has managed to gain Vahn's trust however, he becomes very open, and tends to joke around alot. He has a tendency to need to be the center of attention when around the people he trusts.
In combat, Vahn is fast and uses very powerful strikes, but lacks grace or fine skill. He often misses his target, but all he really needs is two or three strikes to knock out his enemy with his greatsword and his great strength.
History: Vahn was born at an unknown date, by unknown parents, and was sent into an orphanage long before he was able to even walk. He grew up at the orphanage under the name given to him, "Mathew".
At age 10, Mathew started to become known for his tendency of fighting with the other kids at the orphanage. This problem continued until the age of 15, when he was kicked out of the orphanage because of his age. Boys of 15 were to go off and become workers for the town only 2 miles away from the orphanage.
Mathew started working as a simple laborer, loading and unloading goods from traders and merchants, into and out of storage houses. After a year of simple tasks, the supervisor recomended him to be in the squire program because of good work ethic and ability to follow direction. Vahn entered the squire's program and was educated in abilities like reading, writing and proper behavior. He was also trained in the ability to weild a sword. Mathew was never fully accepted though. His higher-ups looked down on him and ignored his questions, and his peers would taunt and hit Mathew whenever the instructers were not around.
After two years of training, one week before his promotion ceremony, Mathew finally gave up on this lifestyle, tired of being looked down upon by everyone around him. Before leaving, he raided the weapons storage for two weapons, a greatsword, and a dagger, and ran. Nobody knows what happened, where he went, or how he survived.
A year and a half later, a blond hair and green eyes, along with two weapons showed up in a distant town, under the self-given name Vahn Stormblade. A sword for hire, with unfinished training, it is a mystery what is in Vahn's future.

Alcyone, Kunoichi Username: Alcyone Teshigahara Character Name: Alcyone Teshigahara Age: 26 Race: Human (descendant of ninja and priestess favored by a Dark Elemental) Gender: Female Height: 5’6 Weight: 145 lbs. Alignment: Dark Elemental Title: Kunoichi Weapons: Double-bladed naginata (Futarigoroshi), shuriken, kunai, hari needles, tanto blades, dragon’s tail dart chain, koshigatana (In’you), shuuko, kanzashi, tessen, various poisons, and other ninja tools. She never carries all weapons at once however. She also has a massive black stallion (Shayou) that can be counted as a weapon since he stands almost 6 feet at the shoulders and his hooves are almost the size of dinner plates. Origins: Northern Jyoukai- in the Sankei mountains on Mt. Shiga. Description: Alcyone has long black hair down to her thighs. Due to a family trait, her hair has platinum white streaks. Her eyes are an icy blue-grey with silvery metallic streaks and very similar to the Kaikou family’s. Her skin is a golden tan and all her scars show up as white skin. On her left index finger, there is a half-moon scar. Across her back, she has criss-crossed lash marks from being whipped. Her ears are pierced with three hoops on each side. She is also light-blind. Alcyone’s build is lithe and sinewy. While she doesn’t have much in the way of raw strength, she makes up for that in agility, speed, dexterity, and flexibility. She is built like a dancer, has the physicality of a gymnast, and moves like a fighter. Personality: Still waters run deep and such is true of Alcyone. She does not speak very often but will when she feels it necessary. On the surface, she is cold, calm, and collected, ready at a second’s notice to react and/ or kill. Beneath the surface, more colorful emotions lie. She is passionate, fiercely loyal, and highly sensual. Some think her to be bipolar because she is a brilliant actress in that she can penetrate any building in disguise. Alcyone has a soft spot for the youngest Kaikou, Seyumi. Something about the girl has endeared the Kunoichi to her and made a true ally out of the normally distant ninja. Around Sey, she is a bit more playful and jesting than when she is in the public eye. Also, the Teshigahara family trait of light-blindness has had a significant pull on her personality. The light-blindness is unique to members of the Teshigahara family in that their sight at night is just as clear as daytime and direct sunlight is like a white blindness. Alcyone has accepted her fate as a carrier of this genetic trait and her own affliction and uses it to her advantage. Still, she inwardly longs to be able to see in the sunshine. History: Alcyone Teshigahara is the oldest child of Takeo and Ayame Teshigahara, direct descendents of a ninja and his Dark Priestess wife who were favored by the Dark Elemental. Takeo’s brother, Makoto, was firstborn so Alcyone is not in line directly for clan leadership. She does have a chance at it though but that would mean that Makoto’s son Rinji would have to either die or pass up the clan leadership. Eitherway, she lived a hard, but privileged life of a Teshigahara clan family member. The Teshigahara clan is a clan of clerics and ninjas but the two are never to mix. There is a cleric head (Daisaishi) and a ninja clan head (Kamikage.) The Daisaishi worship the Dark elemental and the ninja clan is just as spiritual as they are combative. Also, the Teshigahara clan allows outsiders to join and bear the Teshigahara name. That way, a motley of spells and fighting techniques are mixed in with the Teshigahara’s own style of ninjitsu. Anyways, Alcyone is a ninja and second in line to be the Kamikage of her clan. She trained hard from an early age to be a ninja, instead of a priestess like her sister, Kasumi. She worked hard and enjoyed being under her Uncle Makoto’s tutelage. Makoto was sympathic to Alcyone in that her father, Takeo (a cleric), rejected her for her desire to be a ninja and subsequently whipped her. When she was 10, her parents and Makoto arranged to “swap” children- ninja children for clerical children. Makoto adopted Alcyone, Kamlyn (Alcyone’s little brother), and Raidon (Alcyone’s littlest brother) while his two cleric-to-be children, Maemi and Mikio, went to live with their priest and priestess uncle and aunt. The years wore on, and Alcyone even started to refer to Makoto as her father. She respected her uncle so much and still does today. When her grandfather died (she was 16), Makoto became the Kamikage and Alcyone became a Jonin. When she was 16 and shortly after she became a Jonin, the Teshigahara clan absorbed two young men into their ranks- Iesada and Toshiro Orinosuke. The two young men were excellent horsemen and improved the Teshigahara’s horses and horsemanship. Alcyone took to Toshiro very well and he to her. They were married the following year, and Toshiro took his bride’s name, hyphenating it to the Orinosuke. The two began their married life and looked forward to raising a few children. That wish was partially granted in the set of twins (one boy and one girl) that were born when Alcyone was 18. They were named Hakuya (the boy) and K’anya (the girl). The young family made ends meet and the children were raised in a somewhat happy if turbulent household. Alcyone and Toshiro were deeply in love but their proximity to the family politics made life turbulent. Alcyone happiness wasn’t to last more than a few years. When she was 21, Toshiro died during a raid on a rival ninja clan that had been harassing them for some time. Alcyone had been in another part of the village and did not know about Toshiro’s death until his body was borne back to Mt. Shiga. The raid had been successful, their rivals had been wiped out and annihiliated totally but in the process, they had lost many ninja, including Alcyone’s beloved Toshiro. His death jarred her but she was comforted by the fact that he died facing his enemy and not assaulted from behind. The two began their married life and looked forward to raising a few children. Alcyone could barely stand being in the Teshigahara compound because everywhere she went, she was reminded -painfully- of Toshiro. Her depression knew no bounds and she started to blame herself for not being there for him. She found some degree of comfort in her best friend, Kouji who was new to the clan. Finally, she announced to the clan that she was leaving for Koukiyo to be the Kunoichi to the Kaikou family. She left K’anya and Hakuya in Iesada and his wife Kohana’s care and set out for the Capitol. Kouji insisted upon going with her as an attendant. That and a small something else motivating her that she has not told a soul about, not even Kouji. Eitherway, Alcyone became the Kunoichi in a matter of weeks (She’s now almost 23). The aura of the Light Elemental was enough to blind her further, even at night it was hard to see. Her job included protecting not only the Shogun, but more importantly, the youngest Kaikou. Seyumi reminded Alcyone of her daughter, K'anya. Both were headstrong and had the potential to be great leaders. Alcyone encouraged that trait in Seyumi and secretly taught her to fight with her magestaff. Alcyone still writes to home and visits occasionally to see her children but she does not stay long. She loves her two children very much and even though they strongly resemble Alcyone, there is a glimmer of Toshiro in them that makes them hard for Alcyone to look at. Kouji, Chuunin Character Name: Tsukioka- Teshigahara Kouji Age: 27 Race: Human Gender: Male Height: 5'10 Weight: 175 lbs. Title: Chuunin Ninja of the Teshigahara clan Alignment: Dark Weapons: Dai-kyu (Japanese Longbow), yumi (Regular bow), chopsticks (Explained in history), kunai, various knives, kyoketsu shogei (grappling hook), various ninja weapons but he has less proficiency with them. Origins: Eastern Jyoukai, in a village called Mitsuzawa in a swamp Description: Kouji is tall, tan, and has numerous small cuts all over his body. His hair is brown near the roots, gets progressively darker, and is usually an untameable mess when he tries to grow it long so the top and sides are chopped somewhat roughly but he has a long bluish black ponytail at the base of his skull. His build is wiry, lanky, and sinewy. His hands are calloused from his bow. His eyes are a dark green, like the swampy place he was born in. Personality: Kouji is a very pleasant guy to be around. He's cheerful, has a sense of humor, easily surprised, and very easy-going. When it is time to be serious, he is serious but usually a bit nervous so he smiles. In fact, he is rarely seen without at least a small smile on his face. He is extremely loyal and once someone has earned his respect and trust, he will go to the ends of Gaia for them. All in all, he is a very likeable guy. His devotion to Alcyone and determination to be her attendant is fueled by his desire to have a worthy master or mistress to serve. He likes her a lot and adores her children but he is in no hurry to try and take Toshiro's place even though the thought has crossed his mind. History: Tsukioka Kouji had humble beginnings. He lived in a small village in a swampy area of Joukiyo. From a young age, Kouji was taught how to shoot a bow, track animals through the swamp, fish, and handle some chain weapons. He wasn't the best at tracking or fishing, but he was very good at hunting. His arrows flew straight and true into his targets. His family was very proud of him and bragged a little too much about their only son's skills. These rumors reached the ears of the local daimyo, an ambitious man by the name of Yamakawa Udo. Perhaps for amusement or out of true curiosity, he put on an archery contest and a small festival and invited even the commonfolk to join in the contest for a handsome monetary prize. Kouji's parents signed him up as soon as they heard about it. Kouji was thrilled but did not outwardly show it, like any 17-year-old was apt to do. Many of Yamakawa's archers were in the contest as well so there was an underlying feeling shared by all the commonfolk who had entered that it was Yamakawa's way of rigging the contest. It didn't matter anyways because Kouji made it to the final round with one of Yamakawa's lieutenants. Put simply, the lieutenant lost gracefully. Yamakawa then asked for Kouji to be one of his archers. The young man readily agreed. Kouji's new commander and instructor was Tsurara Yasuo, a master archer of Yamakawa's. Yasuo took well to Kouji and pushed him to excel. Kouji looked up to Yasuo and tried hard to please his mentor and friend. One thing that puzzled Kouji about his mentor was that he never talked about his past, his odd icicle shaped scar below his right eye, and came up missing from the Yamakawa palace often, sometimes for days at a time. Whenever he asked about it, Yasuo would give him a humorous reply that did nothing more than make Kouji laugh and get frustrated at his lack of clarity. About 3 years later, Yamakawa Udo went to war with his longtime Western rival, Count Frawley. During the main battle, Kouji was minorly injured but his respected mentor, Yasuo, was slain before his eyes. Despite Udo's best efforts, he and his forces were overrun and Udo was captured before he could commit suicide. Respecting the culture of his rival, Frawley gave the old man one wish before he would allow him to commit ritual seppuku. Yamakawa asked that his surviving warriors be spared. Frawley did as he was asked and released Kouji and the few survivors of the conflict. There were about 27 samurai, 10 archers, and a few cavalrymen who were now masterless. They all swore to redeem their fallen lord and scattered to the four winds. Kouji did not return home. Instead, he went towards the Sankei Mountains. During Yasuo's final moments on earth, he had revealed something to Kouji, gave him something, and made him swear to do something. That oath would take him north and so north he went. Along the way, he stopped at a seaport town for the night. He was in the tavern part of the inn, enjoying a bowl of warm miso soup, seafood yaki udon, and edamame (sweet beans), when a brawl broke out behind him. Some local ruffians had started trouble with one of the barmaids and a patron had asked them to leave. Kouji was about to sample his bowl of seafood yaki soba when one of the ruffians slammed into him, causing him to spill his soba and knock over his miso soup. Hellbent on avenging his beloved dinner, Kouji took the chopsticks that were in his left hand and plucked out the eye of one of the brawlers. He went into a blind rage, stabbing, skewering, plucking, and popping those whose ignorance had caused his dinner to be ruined. The patrons who hadn't left when the idiots had started their s**t certainly left now that Kouji was on a rampage, wielding his chopsticks. When it was over, Kouji's clothes were spattered with blood and one of the chopsticks had broken in someone's eye socket. The owner gave Kouji a free dinner and room for the night. Word travelled fast of the Chopstick Maniac, blown way out of proportion by the locals, and the fact that he was going to the Sankei Mountains. Kouji found that he got a break on his travel expenses from inns and taverns as soon as someone identified him as the Chopstick Maniac. Several of the Teshigahara ninja were in a tavern of one of their allied towns when Kouji came in. Alcyone was among them and was being told the story of the Chopstick Maniac as Kouji walked in. Someone identified him as the Chopstick Maniac and he was given free sake and miso soup. Alcyone approached him and they got to talking. She asked him why he was going to the Sankei Mountains and he replied that his mentor, Tsurara Yasuo, sent him there to report his passing to his family. Alcyone frowned and her companion ninja started to whisper. She asked if this "Tsurara Yasuo" had an icicle-shaped scar beneath his right eye and Kouji nodded. He put two and two together and figured out that he was probably talking to Yasuo's family- though they looked nothing like him. Alcyone asked him to come with her and her companions to the Teshigahara compound on Mt. Shiga immediately, stating simply that Yasuo was her brother and left it at that. Kouji followed. Teshigahara Makoto was informed immediately of the passing of Tsurara Yasuo, who had revealed to Kouji that his full last name was Tsurara-Teshigahara and that he was a ninja of the Teshigahara clan. Kouji gave the letter that Yasuo asked him to deliver to Makoto and was surprised to learn that Yasuo had requested that Kouji be admitted into the clan in his place. "For every one that falls, another should be put in his place", the letter said," and my place would be properly be filled by Tsukioka Kouji." Over the next few weeks, Kouji remained at the Teshigahara compound despite the fact that his oath was fulfilled. A funeral was held for Yasuo and Kouji was surprised to find that Makoto had dispatched 4 ninja to cremate and bring back Yasuo's ashes so that they could be buried in the clan's graveyard in a cave near the top of Mt. Shiga. At the graveyard, he noticed that the doors to the family crypt were open and an urn rested on an alter between two lit candles. He asked whose ashes they were and was surprised to learn that they were the ashes of Alcyone's late husband. Alcyone and Kouji became best friends and after he took his oaths to the clan, the Teshigahara taught him how to fight with chain weapons. Kouji was unaccustomed to the Teshigahara's relaxed attitude among the different ranks. There was a high sense of comraderie and everyone respected and valued each other's skills, no matter how small or insignificant. They valued his archery skills and under their instruction, he excelled ever further than he thought was possible. He even picked up a few "ninja tricks" and was made a Chuunin by Makoto on his 22nd birthday. He understood Alcyone's underlying grief and helped her through it. When she announced her decision to go to the Capitol and become the Kunoichi of the Kaikou family, Kouji decided that he must go as well. No amount of arguing, threatening, or abuse could dissuade him from following her so Alcyone gave in and let him come with her to Koukiyo. Alcyone became the Kunoichi and Kouji stayed on as her attendant, even helping train Seyumi at times. The Light energy that resonated from the palace made vision at night even more difficult for Alcyone so Kouji had to escort her everywhere until she got a feel for the palace. If there ever was a person remotely close to Alcyone as Toshiro was, it is Kouji.
