Godiva didn't need to be told twice. She slunk up the riverbank, following the slashing noises made by the fleeing deer. They were heading away from Azren. So long as she stayed downwind from them, she should be in a good position to take one down.
Her stomach heaved and rumbled. She was hungry again.
Finally she drew close enough to strike. Godiva crouched, tensed her muscles, and then pounced with as much force as she could, barreling straight into healthy young doe and knocking her onto her side. The deer and the nightmare thrashed in combat, splashing water everywhere and sending the rest of the herd into a panicked run.
Could Azren catch one of his own in the chaos? That was his problem. Godiva only wanted one thing, and that was blood.

Loping around the pond in the other direction, Azren froze in his steps, waiting for the other to make the first move. These were her deer after all, and he honestly didn't want to get in the way. Finally hearing the splash and the chaos that ensued afterwards, he plunged into the water, tongue scenting the air one more time before he bolted straight to the herd, jaws closing in upon the neck of a large buck. It thrashed about for a moment, nearly missing the Nightmare's torso with its antlers, but after Azren stood and shook his head, a sickening crack filled the air, and the deer moved no more.
The taste of blood was a satisfying one at this point, so the brute took a moment to pull his catch ashore and lap at the pool that was beginning to form. Satisfied, he carefully pinpointed where the herd had moved to and darted in after them for another catch. He was sure he wouldn't finish all three, but the group was rather large; they wouldn't miss that many more, would they?
