Mel laughed and shook his head again. "I don't think I could do it either. I mean...Maybe if someone could really convince me I might but if someone put a cliff and a lake right in front of me right now I wouldn't do it."
He stood there quietly, listening to her speak and wondered if something had happened to her... "Did..did something happen to you? Did you stick your head in a skunk's home? Or even get stuck by a porcupine? Even if you get in trouble, that doesn't mean you'll always get into trouble. You've just gotta be brave and get out there again." He trotted back around to stand beside Setsumi and smiled at her. "I'll help you."

"Then that would take alooot of convincing." Setsumi gave a soft smile just picturing it. Even a pot full of apples wouldn't be worth risking broken legs. Moving her own, Setsumi walked in a half ciclre just to stretch, ears still listening to Mel. Then she paused and went quiet, stretching her neck towards him with hushed eyes. A skunk? No, that could be handled. Porcupine, a bad itch but still managable. "None of that..." Voice when quiet as Mel trotted over, speaking of being brave and being of help if needed. "I suppose. Still...it's frightening to think about what could happen."

"But you also have to think of the good things that could happen. Like meeting new friends, experiencing new and exciting things. If you're worried about running into bad things then bring along a body guard," he laughed. "C'mon, we'll go find something fun to do." Mel trotted off, looking back to make sure she was coming and that she was keeping up. He really didn't understand how someone could only think about the bad things that could happen rather than the good things, but that was life for ya. Full of different personalities.

Setsumi smiled and nodded. "That would be nice surprise. It sure beats always worrying about negative outcomes." The mare blinked and tilted her head, trying to understand. "A...bodyguard? Is that the same as a friends?" Curious now, she followed after the other with a skip to her step. It did feel good to be out in wider spaces, actually.

"That's the spirit!" he said happily. "A bodyguard could be like a friend, but it's just someone who goes everywhere with you and protects you from things. Mostly from other people." Mel trotted along happily, glancing back to make sure she was still keeping up with him every so often. "Where would you like to go? We could find a lake and go swimming, roll in some new blooming flowers, or maybe go find some bugs to chase," he chuckled. "The world is ours!" He danced around, circling back to come up on her other side and grinned at her.

A smile graced her lips, actually feeling good to encouragement from the other. Her tail even flicked alive in small shakes. "Oh, so it's more just a job? But I don't want to bother of bore another by following me all day." Especially if she went back to roaming in the woods. Apparently that wasn't a fun place to explore. Hooves made no sound on the lush grass as they trotted. "Um...I'm not sure. Where would you prefer to go?" Rolling and swimming sounded fun, she just didn't know if it would bother her feathers.

"Yeah it is kind of like a job. Unless it's a friend that just likes to hang out with you and just happens to be a good protector, then it's technically not a job. Depends on how you look at it I suppose." Mel continued along, looking around to see what there was for them to do. "Well it doesn't matter to me, as long as it's fun! But we could go swimming and then go rolling in the grass! Or even the other way around! What do you say? Do you have a preference or does it not matter to you?" he asked as he looked over at her. He'd heard that some horses had special wings that couldn't get wet but his dad had gone into the water with his feathered wings so he didn't think about her feathers getting harmed by the water.

"Ohhh." So in her case it would be a job., being she hardly knew any other soquili. But no matter, she'd likely trot back to the woods at the end of each day. It was her home base. The mare gave a soft grin, now feeling antsy to the options of fun activites. "No no, that sounds good. A nice roll afterwards would help with the wetness." She already felt like kicking up her legs in cheer. "So then, where's this wate.....wait. It's not the same lake that gets jumped into...is it?" .__.;

Mel couldn't help but laugh at her facial expression when she thought it might be the lake he told her about that his parents had jumped into. "I doubt it. But even if it was, we'd walk around so we would walk or run in instead of jumping in. Trust me I'm not that mean that I'd make you jump off a cliff," he chuckled. "We'll just find the closest lake we can!" He sped up a bit, kicking up his heels and dancing around as they went. It was nice to have a friend to have fun with again.
It took a little bit of time but they finally found a good sized lake. Well okay it was more of a pond but a big enough pond for them to have plenty of fun in! "Let's go!" he shouted with glee as he raced into the water, sending water droplets scattering everywhere. It'd been a while since he'd gone swimming. Probably the last time was when he was still a colt when he and his childhood friend, Neva, went looking for fish.

"Oh that's good then." There was nooo way she was going to leap off some hill just to feel like flying for the moment. The mare kicked up her heels as they trotted along, a pace fast enough to make wind dance in their manes. And it wasn't long before a blue space was seen up ahead, a wide stretch of obvious water. Setsumi's speed began to slow, letting Mel get the head start into the water. It helped too, as she avoided most of the major splashing caused by their slapping hooves.
Sinking in herself, Setsumi smiled as the cool liquid pooled up near her chest. It was refreshing and exciting. Flipping her hair lightly, she dipped ner nose into the pond, snorting loud bubbles simply for fun.

Mel laughed as she blew bubbles in the water and he dived down under the water, coming up right in front of her and spitting water at her, playfully. "You're it! If you haven't played water tag before that's because I just made it up!" He dashed away through the shallow water, his tail flipping water in every direction. A friend to play with, a nice sunny day, a cool refreshing lake. This was definitely a good day! He bet his sister would love to do this too, she was always fun like him but because of her wings she probably wouldn't dive in like him.

"Eep!" Setsumi staggered back as Mel suddenly appeared before her, right before spitting water right to her face. Snorting, she shook her head and dripping locks to look at him. Baffled. Oh...it was part of a game? "Water tag." Sounded like land tag. "Hey now, I already told you I'm not fast!" Trotting forward, Setsumi paced behind the other, as if half-heartedly giving chase. And just how was she supposed to get him with all those waterdrops flicking her vision? Dx

Mel chuckled as he slowed a bit and stopped flicking his tail around. "Alrighty then, what would you like to play? Or we could just go swim. That's fun even if it's not a game," he said with a smile. "Or we could look for fish! I did that once with a friend when I was a kid. It was kinda hard though with the deep water and all." He trotted around a bit more and finally plopped down in the shallow water and sprawled out on his side. The sun warming one side of his body and the water cooling the other side.

"Let me think about it some more...." Setsumi swished her own heavy tail as she walked closer. But just when she was about to surprise him with a tag, he fell over. o.o
Well, not really fell as to rolling and cooling in the water. She laughed lightly while blowing bubbles against his fur. "Well, I think you scared away all the fish now." Setsumi glanced around calmly, looking for deeper water then. Just how well could horses swim? Spotting darker water, the mare trotted happily towards it, and soon sank lower as the ground dipped some feet. "Come on Mel!"

"Eh there were no fish to begin with, they're too afraid off big bad horses like me," he said and then blinked as she started trotting off. Mel chuckled as he rolled back to his feet and trotted after her. "Be careful though, you don't want to swim too far out and then cramp up. If you cramp up and you're too far out...Well it could be bad, we'll leave it at that." He trotted beside her until his hooves finally left the soft ground and he started swimming around in circles, his mane flaring out in the water as he swam. "I can't believe how long it's been since I've been swimming," he said happily.
