Amin's face darkened. "And those are the words of someone who should love everyone by order of their own God..." Amin replied sourly. "What is good to mark me as evil because I have some very conflicting traits? Why should I be denied the right to live because my needs are different than yours?" Amin paused, looking questioningly at the angel. "I know I have not answered your question, but are you not supposed to be merciful?" he said bitterly. "You have directly taken as many lives as I have, and indirectly taken many more. Just because God says it is ok does not change this fact. If you look at it purely on the basis of how many wanted to live and how many did not, you are most likely more guilty than I. I cannot get to sleep most nights because of the guilt that presses on me from the ten lives I have taken that wanted to live. You, on the other hand, have slain many who yearned for life. Why? Because they feed on those who you and your God say they shouldnt." Amin had spat the last words at Adonia. "I hope something I just said got through to you." Amin turned and walked away, his long golden braid trailing behind.

The sound of an organ echoed through the church, as Shalom's slender fingers moved gracefully across the keys. It was a song of sadness. Every note struck deep within the soul of whoever heard it. Behind every note was meaning. This was the way that Shalom played. Music was not simply a hobby to him... it was everything and more. It was how he lived and moved and breathed, how he worshiped, and the reason he awoke each morning to bear his pain once more. When he played, the music consumed him. The outside world would disappear, but his senses would not dim. No... one could say that they were improved. He felt the music, as much as you might feel the lips of a lover against yours.
The room was cold, and besides his music, deathly silent. The organ stood near the altar. The walls were lined with mosaics and the floor was lined with pews. Above the altar lay the statue of Jesus as he hung from the cross. Truly, the church was beautiful, its architecture astounding. But that meant nothing to Shalom. He could not see its beauty. He could not gaze upon the figure of his savior. But it was his favorite place to play his music. Why? Though he could not see, he could feel. He could feel the presence of God, and in it he felt peace. Others would lose that feeling during times of suffering, but that was because they looked for it with their eyes. The feeling never weakened, God never left. But despite this feeling, he was not happy. He felt only sadness, but there was a peace in the sadness. A peace which came from his faith in God.
Father Tunston entered the sanctuary from a side door. His face was filled with sadness and longing. It seemed ages since the days when the church was a place of joy. But only the dead bodies demons hung would visit them now.
"Shalom... Can you not play a song of joy?" Suddenly, the music stopped. Silence echoed across the room, louder than the music before. "How, Father? I feel no joy..." His voice was deep. That is not to say that his pitch or tone was deep. Rather, it is to say that behind his words there was something deeper. A sadness others could not understand... a meaning others did not want to understand. "I feel them, Father. I feel their pain... Mothers, fathers, babies, all of them. I can feel their screams."

"Adonia" Virgil said quietly "This being might not be evil, he might not harm anyone and because of this it would be wrong to condemn him" he looked toward the man who had began walking away "Tell us, are you for all of this death and destruction? Or do you seek to help these mortals and this city?" he stood awaiting the answer of the stranger when a familiar noise he had hear before in the city boomed from the church, the melody told such sorrow and he was suddenly distracted from everything and he looked towards the Church.
His eyes snapped open and he sat up very suddenly his eyes darting around the main hall, that sound. He knew it was the great church organ but he had not thought anyone else sat in the room with him. He stepped into the shadows, as his eyes searched for the organ player...that music, there was something very odd about it. He watched as the priest came into sight and he listened as low voices spoke. His eyes fell upon the organ player and he watched him intently, studying his movement. He walked toward the alter keeping in the shadows to get a better look. He saw that the face of the player had scars down his face, they looked like burns. A small gasp escaped his mouth, catching a glimpse of the strangers eyes…they looked terrible. He listened to him speak and knew of the feeling he spoke of...however he did not feel sorrow by the sadness of the mortals. He watched the man for a few moments, he saw the point of his what looked Elvin ears and then spoke. “An Elf that feels sadness” his voice quiet but audible, he had been careless and had made himself known.

Another voice pierced the darkness. Father Tunston instantly turned to the direction it came from, scanning the shadows, and seeing nothing. Shalom however, didn't turn his head. He simply reached out his mind. A flood of emotions hit him. How did I not sense this before? This being, whatever he was, was different. His heart was filled with evil. Power, immortality, eminated from him. He was certainly not an angel, but he was no demon either... The presence was familiar, but Shalom hadn't felt it directly. No, he'd felt it in the screams of others... And he felt those same screams within this creature. Yet there was something even more amazing to Shalom. This creature... he understood true sadness. Not the understanding that came simply from experiencing it. No, this was true sadness he understood. And yet, he inflicted this same sadness, this same agony, upon others. How? Does he not feel for the sadness of mortals? This question burned in Shalom's thoughts. This was surly one of the terrors which haunted the city of Heedwic, and so Shalom felt he should feel nothing for him. But yet, he did feel something... Understanding, yes, this creature understood him. This was the first creature he'd ever felt who understood his pain.
Meanwhile, Father Tunston still frantically looked about. "Who are you? Show yourself." Fear was overcoming him. He looked to Shalom, wondering what he was thinking, what he was feeling. And then he spoke. "I am only half-elf... I have been rejected by both the humans and the elves. In that rejection, I have come to understand true sadness. I thought I was alone. But you, you understand it too. So then, what are you?"

Gloomy noise echoed through the spaces in Heedwic, and as the wind blew it felt as though the tune smacked Rudolph in the face and it stung her flesh. She shuddered, gripping the hilt of her sword...the music sounded so much clearer than it had before. Underground it had sounded muffled and hadn’t had such an eerie effect.
Rudolph had been following the path that led her to the gates of the park, she had not been bothered by anyone or anything. When she came to the great steel gate she stood still and found that there was a dead silence...the music had stopped and the wind did not howl. She placed her hand on the cold bars and looked out to the city, very rarely she had left the park in fear of being caught out by a human. She could see it was a disaster area with pretty much everything being destroyed. She also noticed there were no signs of any life whether it be good or bad. Maybe it's over. She stepped out of the park; she closed her eyes as if expecting something bad to happen as she did so but there was nothing. She blinked a couple of times and felt a small breeze against her neck. She began walking the streets of Heedwic, in search of another living being.

Izanami looked up as she listened tot he sound coming from the church. Not many people had stepped foot into the church after other demons hung bodies in the front of the church. She got up from sitting on the gravestone and started walking to the front. The graveyard was surronded by a wood fence. It had grown moldy from weather damage and how old it was. She walked to the very front of the graveyard and turned around gazing at all the tombs the surrounded her. Izanami touched the wood of the fence and opened the gate door. She headed towards the church looking at all the site that Heedwic had to offer. The park, for example. She walked past it noticing someone walking out of it slowly as if she was scared. The girl had pointed ears. Odd, I've never seen someone with ears like that. Izanami retracted her wings trying to look as normal as possible. She did not want to scare the girl and cause her to run away. She walked up slowly behind the girl(Rudolph). "Excuse me," Izanami said politely trying to sound as human as possible. People feared demons so she decided it would not be best to act like one when she was trying to get information from a human, or so she thought. "I was wondering why you have pointed ears."

Gray really had to think about the question, for he didn't know himself. He stepped forward with a smile. "I am the one they all fear" he said proudly "The one that taunts your stupid Church...your empty religion" his eyes wandered to the priest "Mass has really gone down hill hasn't it?" before the priest could answer he carried on blowing his own trumpet so to speak "I am like you and I am like them and yet I am so unlike you and so unlike them that it wouldn't seem possible that I feel what you feel and that by Race I am Hound" he silenced for a few moments and gave a small miserable sigh "But I am not with the Hounds and I do not answer to the Demons...I am free from their command but unlike you" he stepped out of the shadows and came right up to the half elf, he noticed that the priest had nervously taken a few steps back. Gray took a moment to taste his fear; he closed his eyes imagining his little mortal heart as he felt it beating rapidly. He glanced over at the priest with a smile, a vicious smile of course and then carried on his sentence; finishing off what he had began. Standing behind the half elf he placed his hand on his shoulder "but unlike you" he repeated "I am also free of those human emotions" he gave a small snort "You know, those little feelings that cause the tears" just then he came to a realization...the burns, he knew what they were and he smiled gleefully "Oh how poetic!" he gasped, slapping his hand off his leg "It's like your being punished by your elven self for having those negative human feelings...isn't it?" Gray was incredibly amused, never had he met a being quite like this one…had he been human he would have pitied this man.

The silence was ruined with the voice of a girl; Rudolph had not seen her approach and jumped whipping her sword out as fast as she could. She span round holding the sword to the girls throat and then seeing she was just what seemed a human she relaxed pulling her sword away.
"I apologise for my hastiness" she immediately began "You scared me, you shouldn't creep up any one like that" she looked about the destroyed city "Especially in times like these" she then looked to the girl "I'm so glad there is someone else wandering around here!" a wide smile was unmovable from Rudolph’s face as she stared at the girl "I thought everyone was dead" she blurted out "I'm Rudolph...oh my ears" she quietened and thought for a moment. Should I tell her the truth? Would it really matter anyway? We are in very strange conditions and I doubt she cares what race I am.
"My ears are very pointed because as an elf I'm just born with them like that" she waited for the girls’ reaction, hopefully she was not scared...observing the girl closely she gasped "You are not human!!" she could see the girl quite clearly had wings.

"We have no time to be listening to that music!" Adonia snapped "Can't you see we have something to kill?" she looked from Virgil to the halfling and saw that he was long gone now and so she turned to face Virgil who stared gormlessly at the church, with her right hand she shoved him "Snap out of it!" she shouted "Learn your place Virgil...I am leader, you are there to do as I command" the music had stopped by now and Adonia simply shook her head "You're so interested in the Church are you? Go investigate. You’ll find some fat mortal sat at the organ most likely" She put away her sword and crossed her arms "You're useless as a warrior...I don't know why you were even picked for such a high level mission" she began walking up toward the church "I'm not having these distractions...I need my men to be working no listening to some silly human played organ...its ghastly music anyway, so depressing!" she stormed upward ready to give that organ player what’s what!

Sat in Dovedon Inn with four of her best demon soldiers she leaned against the unwashed window looking out at what she saw a masterpiece...destruction was art. She smiled at her accomplishments and turned to her men.
"I think we've won this one...very soon the angels will give up and leave" she was pretty sure of herself. She was sat with her legs up on the table, slouched back...very confident, very relaxed. Her eyes peered round the room. It was pretty much empty with the odd human sat around...drowning their sorrows. She gave a great laugh and then stood up so that now every miserable snivelling mortal in the room was looking at her "We will come to you like we did your loved ones...you will all be dead by the time we are done" she made sure she stared every single one of them in the eye for at least a few moments until one human in particular stood out to her. A woman, maybe in her mid twenties...she was stood at the bar with a young girl, she looked in her teens. She approached the woman, the glow of her red eyes burning into her soul. A sinister smile played on her ruby red lips as she watched the mousy woman twitch, she tried to break the gaze but the mortal found it hard to look away from such a spectacular and frightening demon such as Zuriel. She stood a couple of inches from the woman, she noticed the younger girl grab the womans hand and Zuriel laughed. "No one can protect you" she said softly "I could be your saviour" she smiled "I'm the only one in this city that could keep you alive and you know what?" she waited for the woman to reply but of course she did not, she stood cowering like the weak mortal she was "I choose not to...I will come to you and your bit" she cocked her head to the side "and I'll kill you...I'll make it slow of course and then it won't end there, one of my hounds will catch your soul before it leaves this earth and they will send it down to hell and there...in hell, I will be the only one that will be able to help you" she stood or a moment and watched as the woman broke, her eyes reddened and puffed up and tears began to fall, she begged for mercy...like they all did and Zuriel laughed in the womans face. Her fellow demons laughed and taunted the woman as Zuriel did and then Zuriel silenced "I recognise you" she informed the woman "Remember when you found your grandmothers body?"
the woman spluttered and cried and the younger girl brought the sobbing woman into her arms, Zuriel was angered by this and grabbed the girl by the back of her collar and yanked her backwards away from the mousy brown haired woman that stood before her "Move on child" she snapped "You are alone from now on” she then turned to face the human once more "Well, do you remember? all of her limbs removed from her body...DO YOU!?" she saw that the woman nodded "Well, I was there when you found her and I was the one who ripped each leg and each arm from her torso...she screamed so loud...music to my ears, she was a feisty old woman I can give her that" she shrugged "but that only makes it more fun"
"You evil b***h!" the once seemingly timid woman cried, she cried frantically and loud...her body shook and along with her loud cries Zuriel laughed heartily. She turned from the woman to see all eyes were on her and this pathetic little woman, the horror and disgust in their eyes was hilarious to Zuriel and she carried on laughing until she was interrupted.
"Zuriel!" one of her men alerted her "Six angels have just marched past...with your command we will take them out"
"Six?" Zuriel grinned, she ran to the window to take a look and she could see them "Go catch up with them, I will assist you in this fight" her men fled from the inn and then quite suddenly without any signs, she did not even look at the woman she brought her sword out swiping it across to take off the whimpering womans head. There was a giant gasp from the room but Zuriel did not stick around to take it in. She ran behind her men until she caught up with them. She began attacking the angels with as much strength she had...it didn't take long for them to be beaten. In all of the commotion and over the clanking of swords and agonising screams she heard a name uttered...
Adonia.
One of the Angels was informing another angel to go look for...Adonia.
Intwining her fingers into golden hair she dragged one of them away from the commotion and kicked him to the ground, she held the tip of her blade to his throat.
"Adonia?" she barked "You're commander is Adonia...am I correct in thinking so?"
He nodded and then swiped his feet under Zuriel so that she fell "Is she here? In Heedwic?" She asked...ignoring that he was trying to fight her; she was confident that she could overpower him anyway.
"Yes" he replied "but that doesn't matter to you, you're going back to hell" He went to stab her but he was knocked to the side with a great fist, one of her men had rushed to help her. As the angel and demon battled Zuriel began walking away from the fight in awe.
Adonia is here?
Mixed feelings went through her, what would she do if she saw her? Would they embrace one another and say sorry for what went on all of those years ago?
"No!" she screamed at the empty streets.
I will seek her out and I will end her...I will prove that I have become the strongest of us both!
((sorry if it's too long, I just wanted to be able to introduce Zuriels personality properly))

Virgil stumbled to one side then stood up straight with his head held up high "My place is not under you!" he snapped "You are young and inexperienced, you have no right to9 go storming around the place like some little brat!" Power Mad! "And will you stop speaking so recklessly about these mortals!" he began to follow her "You aren't seriously going to ask a man of the church to stop playing his music! this is ridiculous...we are here to help them, not boss them around, they have it hard enough with you gallivanting around taking away their music...their hobbies...the very little happiness they might have left!" he chased after her, she was still only a child...he sensed it, she had been given way too much responsibility. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to a stop. "Are you even listening to me!?" he glared at her "We are here to help...not make things worse"

Toby leaned against one of the walls of the church. It was cold. It was also dark, but that wasn't very new. He stared at the dark sky, wondering for the first time what this place would look like under different circumstances. Would toddlers be tumbling over the hill with their mothers standing a few feet away screaming at them not to scare them like that? A memory came. Well, it started to come, but the pushed it away. ......But if his parents hadn't died, what would he be like? Would he have made different choices? Would he have killed inoocent little babies? He shivered. Well, one thing's for sure. If I hadn't made this choice, I'd be dead. he thought.

A cold, almost demonic chill shivered down Shalom's spine as the creature's hand touched his shoulder. But it was more than a chill... it felt as though screams were echoing through his body. Shalom went cold and stiff. This monster didn't simply understand true sadness... he relished in the sadness of others. The hound's words disgusted him, but there was some truth to them... His emotions controlled him, hurt him. To be free from emotions... what would that be like? He told himself that he would never give up his emotions, but he knew that wasn't true. If given the choice, he might.
A wolf stepped out of the shadows. His form was perfect, his wolven muscles well defined. His eyes were fierce, and set directly upon those of the stranger. As he growled and bared his teeth, the wolf stepped closer to Shalom. Meanwhile, Father Tunston begin slowly stepping back. He slipped a crucifix off of a small table, keeping the hound from seeing it. His fingers trembled, and the sweat was visible on his face. He was in the presence of a hound. He'd heard of them before, but never seen one. His life, the life of Shalom, and the church itself were now at stake. This monster could do anything. But he had to warn Shalom. Despite his acute senses, Shalom never had a good sense of fear.
"Shalom! Wa-Watch out! He was a mortal sent to Hell, and there he attained the rank of Hound. They devour the souls of men... Babies, mothers, daughters, gender and age mean nothing to them." Shalom's eyes widened, not with fear, but with realization. The screams... "Why? Why do you relish in the terror of you victims? Why are you even here? Do you intend to devour us as well?"

Izanami smiled a crooked smile. "Glad you noticed." She had gotten the information she wanted from the girl so she had no use for her. "Thank you for that information about your ears. I didn't know that there was another race still living here in Heedwic." Izanami glanced over at the park where she came from. "You and your people will soon be gone along with the rest of the humans." She wondered if the girl was worthy of still living. Izanami decided to spare the girl's life this time and this time only. "Oh, and I'm a demon if you couldn't tell from the dark wings." Her smile grew and became more twisted. She loved being a demon. ((sorry would be longer but i have to go to bed exam tom.))

Gray stood firmly in his place...to make sure they knew that a mere wolf would not scare him away. He looked to the priest and gave a fake frown "Oh when you put it like that...You make me sound like a mindless monster!" his eyes then fell to look at the wolf and he smirked. He stared into it's eyes, it was a strong and faithful creature...he knew this by simply looking at it, how it stood with it's master, promising it would attack if Gray attempted to hurt anyone. "I don't just take the souls of any dirty sinful mortal...I have my preferences...I have personality" he gave a shrug "Plus...a sinful soul would kill me" He widened his eyes as he looked deeply into the dogs eyes, silently he taunted the wolf...he displayed he was confident and up for a challenge with this beast. He broke the long gaze and looked to the half elf. "Shalom" he uttered having heard the priest call the elves name, he spoke as if simply practising his name "I'm here because I was sent here, I see this as an opportunity for me...I do not intend to go back down to hell once all of this is over" he thought for a few moments, he had still not worked out how exactly he would escape the clutches of hell...there would most likely be a bounty on him had he gone missing, probably punished if he refused to go back to hell "In fact" he said with a sly smile "I seek redemption...forgiveness, I want my soul to be able to go up to heaven and live in paradise" he gave a small laugh "But I'm a lost cause aren't I father?" he stepped closer now to the priest his eyes on him as he cowered and shook nervously "Would you like to help me?” he sensed the doubt in the priest “wouldn’t waste your pathetic little life on me would you?” he could feel himself getting hot and angry, he turned from them “I don’t intend to harm you” he said darkly as he glanced over to Shalom “I’ll let you live through your sad life…how could I destroy something so beautifully depressed?” he then gave a final look to the priest “You on the other hand…I’ll have your soul when I starve for it” he then began his way down through the pews to the main exit of the church.
