ive played both of those instruments, so i would have to say tenor sax. i just think the sax is such a cooler instrument. clarinets are great if you are just starting out. clarinet was the first instrument i played, then switched to the sax, and i thought the sax was way better.

I have played both and own both.

Tenor Sax indefinitely.

The Tenor sax is an all around instrument, weather you want to be in jazz, classical, marching band They'll Accept you!~

The clarinet is more for use in classical bands. BD's can never get too much of clarinets. Its very seldom if you spot one in Jazz

clarinet, hands down
it's easier to switch from clarinet to tenor sax if you change your mind
but if you do switch, beware of embouchure differences and reeds

You should choose the tenor sax. It gives you more options for what you want to play, and the low notes are beautiful. It has a much jazzier sound if you want that, but it can also be used for classical sax. It takes a lot more air though. Some people don't like that. It's big, and hard to carry around everywhere, but it's so worth it. If you have any questions about it, PM me.

Clarinets are a lot easier to carry around, but I agree that tenors have a cooler sound.

tenor sax is easier to play...i learned how to play from the tenor in my class

Tenor Sax =D too many people will do the clarinet, and not many will do tenor (well maybe in ur band!). But saxophones sound much kooler.

Go for the Clarinet, because it would be easier to switch to another woodwind instrument than it would be with the saxophone.

User ImageIf you want to be respected in the long run, I say clarinet. Apparently, saxes are really easy to learn and thus, if you play it badly, you get a lot of grief for it.

Plus, the black and silver is just so classy, wouldn't you say? ;]

I would have to say to learn both since I started with clarinet and now I know how to play the sax (tenor). Both are fun instruments XD
