"No," he said. "She seems to be a fan of ours," he added with a bit of amusement. "Irelia... do you have a wish?" he asked the girl. "Because I can't think of anything I want at the moment, but this is a wishing well, isn't it?" he asked Lilly.
Thanatos was ignored. He sighed. He was used to that.

"I don't... think so?" Irelia thought for a moment, pondering the question now that the danger was over.
"Well, maybe I have just one..." Digging around in her pocket, she grabbed a small coin and flipped it in to the well. Closing her eyes, she wished that she knew more about her book. Because it was starting to scare her, what she could find out with it. Not that she would tell Antony that.
Lily smiled as Irelia made her wish.
"What a strange wish, for such a small girl. Don't you want to wish for fame? Money? Love, perhaps?" Lily's face fell, as she looked at Irelia.
"You don't know what the future holds for you, tiny girl, but I wish it wasn't so sad."
Lily finally noticed Thanatos, and smiled bitterly.
"Ah. Its you, I see. Come to try and take me away again? I won't go."

Antony went still at her words, then looked down at Irelia. "You know," he said conversationally. "She's mean, and often unladylike, as well as hard headed... but really, does she deserve an answer like that?" he asked the lady of the well. "Course, she can't hear you, so I could just lie to her..."
"Ah, well, you really should be heading over to the other side," Than said, shrugging. "But at least you're doing a job here. I won't force you to go if you don't want to, as long as you're doing something useful."

Lily sighed, and patted Irelia's head, smoothing her hair with her pale hands. Irelia shivered under the touch, and looked up at Antony. She wished she knew what was going on, but Antony seemed to be talking to the ghost. Irelia bit her lip at what Antony said, as it wasn't very nice. She wondered what the ghost could have said.
"I don't say it without reason, young man. As easy as she finds others to read, I can read her. It does not bode well for her, and neither does her future. A future with someone to unlock her, hmm?" Lily gestured to the lock around Irelia's chest.
"I will have no problem granting her wish, though I wish it were another. All it will cause her is pain, and I cannot take back wishes."
"Are you so content with your lot that you don't have a wish, Boy of Blue?"
Lily chuckled at Thanatos' comment.
"I will be needed for a long while then, for no one will stop wishing unless they die. And even I still wish, though my wishes will never be granted."

"Hmm," Thanatos said, looking at her. "Must suck."
"Well then," Antony said. "I wish..." He thought about it for a moment, his instincts warring with one another for a while before he spoke. "I wish that it wouldn't be as bad as that." He paused. There was another wish he could make, he thought, looking from her to Thanatos, then back.
"I could make another wish," he said. "But I know some rules. For every thing gained there's a price, now isn't there? Who pays that price, ma'am?"

Lily smiled up at Antony, a coy smile on her lips.
"You are right, there are always prices to pay. Every action has a positive or negative reaction, or so they say. But most people wishing don't think that there could be a consequence to their actions, but there always is. They rarely know of the consequences, unless they wish for something harmful to themselves, and even then the consequences could have happened whether or not the wish was made. She wishes for something that will cause her pain, yes, but it is necessary. The consequences, or the price, will be paid by whoever wishes it. But you offer up something different, something intriguing."
Lily smiled at Antony, and offered him her hand, stepping off her perch on the well.
"You offer salvation for a girl you barely know, a girl younger than you. Are you really willing to take some of the pain in store for her? And, since she can't hear us, I will say this. The only way you could help her is if you are willing to let someone in your heart. But maybe you have already done that, offering this up as it were."
Smiling at Antony, Lily touched his cheek.
"You're a good boy. I think the price you would have to pay for your second wish wouldn't be all that bad. You'd survive, at least."

"No," he said. He didn't love Irelia, of course. It just didn't seem fair that she should suffer for thoughtless words. He twitched. Tell a girl your secret and you feel responsible for it for the rest of your life, hmm? Sucked. "My second wish is stupid. Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. You, of all people, should know this."
He turned, looking at Irelia. "Let's go," he said, tugging her away from the well.

Irelia was suddenly jerked by Antony, and she stumbled after him.
"What was all THAT about?" She asked, feeling cross. It was hard to follow a conversation she could only hear half of, and Antony's answers were hard to interpret to say the least.
"What was that about my wish, or that I don't deserve it? Its my wish, I can wish for it if I want to!" Irelia had no idea what had been said about her, no idea what could possibly be in store for her.
Lily sighed as Antony walked away.
"Just because he's given a piece of his heart away doesn't mean he's in love," Lily muttered, feeling a fool. He really didn't get it, did he. Closing off everyone he met would only lead to his disaster, though that girl seemed to be able to annoy him enough to lead him to do things out of his comfort zone. Wishing fervently that the two of them would lead happy lives, Lily turned back to her well, climbing back inside.

"The next time I tell you something is real," Antony said lowly, dangerously, "whether or not you believe me, I expect you to think long and hard on what it is you say, understand?" He tugged her all the way back to the street. "And more importantly, what the consequences are of that action," he added.
"I'm late for my training. Go home, Irelia, we'll talk about this when I'm not so angry." At himself, that was. Damn, damn and double damn! He shouldn't have made the wish he had!

Irelia watched him go, scowling. She turned and walked back in to the forest to grab her bike as Antony had failed to notice that they had passed it, and looked up just in time to see the well vanish from sight.
Gulping, Irelia biked home quietly, thinking about what had happened. Something had made Antony mad, REALLY mad, and she was certain it was something to do with her.
"Dammit," Irelia said softly, pedaling harder. Why does trouble ALWAYS follow her around?
Inside her backpack her book stirred, cooing softly to Irelia. If it had its way, Irelia would never learn its secrets...
