Wow. That was a neat...thing. She wondered if that had been there before as she stepped forward a little nervously. What was it? Why had he had to think about it before going in... how fascinating... so fascinating. Axis? Who was Axis? Was that one of those others he'd spoken about? Nervously, she sank down a little, wondering what this other kit looked like and how friendly they were.

The Squib looked up from the book she was reading, her face brightened up. "Hey Valda." Axis tilted her head to the side to look at the little kid. She was still somewhat awkward for being an adult, but seeing a kit smaller than she was, kicked this fact into reality. "What's wrong...?"

"Welllllll." The seraphim fluttered around her head for a moment before sinking into a pillow by her side. "I don't know where her parents are. She won't say anything." He glanced over to the kit and offered her a small sheepish smile. It wasn't his fault, really.

The older kitsusagi laughed. "Valda." She said gently. "She can't talk." She had pretty much experience, with a mute sister, and being an empath.

Valda? Was that the other kits name? It seemed kind of ... fitting, in a weird way. Not that the small newborn really understood much about that either. To be truthful, she didn't understand much at all. Thoughtfully, she scampered into the room... not really wanting 'Valda' to go very far away. She sort of... looked up to him, trusted him, and was fascinated with him. And then she let her gaze fall over 'Axis', and smile softly.

Someone knew. Someone understood. Her soft ears flit back and she sat down, curling her tails about her tiny music-note covered paws. This was all correct. She wondered what else this kit knew... it was all so interesting!

"Yeah well." The truth didn't even hit him even as his friend spoke. "It's because she's still a kit....wait." He caught the raise of the eyebrows Axis was giving him. And then, at the very moment, he realized it.

"She...can't talk. As in, like your sister?" He repeatedly slowly, blue eyes wide with horror. He had been oblivious all this while? Oh s**t.

The kitsusagi nodded, then returned the smile to the kit. She knew of course. Being an adult meant her empath powers were better than before, and that she had practiced it dutifully. "Your name?" She asked softly. Axis needed to concentrate hard enough to read other's thoughts. It wasn't very easy, however.

That look, the look of horror, had been one she'd never seen before. And she didn't much like it. Inside her something rumbled with discontent. The small kit seemed rather frightened by the idea of being... scary herself. Or whatever it was that was making his eyes go that wide. Yet... the soft voice of Axis brought her back and she looked at the older-looking kitsu nervously. If she knew she couldn't talk... why bother to ask her name? It was pointless.

Tilting her head to the side, she thought about this. Words didn't quite form nicely in her head, so her thoughts were scrambled. It was all a dyslexic puzzle piece, but in it was her name, hiding away and staying hidden until she felt a bit safer. This person was scary... asking questions she knew the little one couldn't answer? Why? It just didn't fit.

Well, Valdaglerion was horrified at himself, for being so oblivious. And he had been rather dismissive of her...and to tell the truth, rather annoyed when she wouldn't say anything. At the moment, he felt rather silly, and floated forward to the kit to pat her on the head. "Axis is nice, don't worry."

Well, they couldn't always keep calling her 'that lost kit' forever, could they? And Axis wasn't exactly comfortable with naming someone, someone that was lost. What if her parents appeared and demanded an explanation. Besides, it also gave her a chance to practice this telepathy more. She could catch some brief snippets of Xara's thoughts, and like her mother, used her empathy to interpret them. However, telepathy was quite difficult to her. She narrowed her eyes, trying to focus.

"Kai...Kai...something." She finally said, shaking her head to clear the kit's muddled thoughts out of her mind. Her empath powers wouldn't be of much use for a name. "Maybe we can get her to write it. But that means we have to teach her how to write."

'Kaiiko'kii,' she murmured in her head. If Valda said it was okay... and well... she didn't seem to be trying anything cruel. Kaiiko was nearly positive the other wouldn't hurt her... if she wanted to, she would've already. Wouldn't she? Surely so. It had to have been complicated... and Valda seemed kind of comforting now. She perked her head up and smiled at him brightly, flicking her ears forward. This was the first kind of affection she'd ever received and she felt something ...warm. Thankfulness? Whatever that was!

Tilting her head to the side, she heard about writing. Her name? That would be interesting... though she wasn't exactly sure how the sounds would fit nicely on paper. It didn't seem very probable at all.

At least the kit didn't seem to blame him. His shoulders sagged in relief as she smiled up at him. And he thought he was being mean. Maybe he was overreacting.

It was lucky that Axis hadn't stopped concentrating. "You always do, Valda. You still haven't told your dad, have you?" She murmured softly, eyes shut. "Kaiiko'kii." She repeated. Now she had the full name, clearly, and her eyes fluttered open, heaving a sigh of relief and looking slightly tired. Telepathy, as well as portals weren't easy for her. They always seemed to grasp some of her energy and take it away.

It was a while before the adult got up, rather shakily on her four legs and padded over to a table. Paper...where was it? Her head tilted as she spotted some on a table and frowned. "Why are there empty music sheets here?"

If she could've, she was sure she would've giggled in delight when he seemed relieved. Kiwi hadn't really experienced much more to life than these few moments right now, and so all of Valda's expressions were kind of funny... not to mention he was still the most strange thing in the room. Even Axis, an adult, didn't look like him at all. He was really special, and she could tell.

Looking in surprise, she heard her name. The sound reverberated off her ears and she blushed, liking it. She knew it fit her but had never heard it said and it felt almost as if she was important. Important enough to have her own name that other people could call her by. This was good enough. Wasn't it? It would be better if she could talk though... preferably so she could do that... melodic thing Valda had been doing before.

Music sheets? What was music? Feeling a bit more confident, she jumped up and dove over to where Axis was. The young kit pawed at Axis's leg and then pointed to the music sheets, looking curious. Music? What was it? It sounded whimsical... almost as whimsical as Valdaglerion looked. Perhaps it was a type of writing? It never occurred to her that she was covered in music notes, especially because the sheet was blank.

"I...I..." The seraphim spluttered, a loss of words for a moment. True, he still couldn't force himself to tell Talagand, to ask his father to teach him music. Why could Axis manage, manage to tell her mother she couldn't do magic? It was different though. She was studious, he liked playing. No one took him seriously.

"That's a nice name." He smiled, flashing a worried glance at the adult kitsusagi. She seemed tired somehow. Maybe it was because she was studying too hard.

It wasn't hard for Axis to guess what Kaiiko'kii wanted to say, and lifted some of the music sheets from the table, dropping them gently on the floor. "These are music sheets, to write music on." She glanced over at the seraphim, who was hovering in the air, still seemingly dazed. "Why don't you explain to her, Valda?"

"Ah what?" He snapped out of his reverie, and flew over to where the two were. "Um well, see...music is a kind of art where you use sounds. Like singing, playing instruments and stuff. I'm not exactly sure how to write on them though..."

"Because you still don't want to tell Talagand." Axis murmured softly.

It seemed for a moment, that Valda was every bit as childish as she, except that he was beautiful and could speak. Kaiiko'kii was none of these things. She was a mute with a long annoying name and irritable strange symbols all over her body. She pawed at once absently, sighing silently. What good was any of this? She was young, and tired. All she wanted was to lay down and just... let it be. How might she do that though?

Music huh? An art with sound? Then her eyes widened and she pointed to Valda's throat, opening her mouth as if singing, but not speaking (or singing) a word herself. She looked kind of hopeful, as if she was correct. So this music... it was what Valda had been doing? He'd been doing music? She wanted to do it too! To produce such beautiful sound... if only she could learn to write it... or even read it. That would be enough.

"Well." The seraph noticed the little pink kit pawing at one of her symbols. "That is a music note." He said, with an affirmative tone. He was quite sure of it, really. Notes were written on the music sheets...though he had no idea how to.

Of course, he didn't exactly understand what Kaiiko'kii was trying to say, and looked towards the empath quizzically. "I think she wants you to sing." Yellow eyes sparkled, almost mischievously.

"I don't sing here." The seraphim protested, flying upwards with a flap of all three pairs of his wings and landed atop the table. "I mean, I did, just now, anyway. She heard it."

Kaiiko'kii's eyes widened and she spun around, trying to look at herself. All of these strange markings... were... music notes? She was covered in music notes? Beautiful things that made the sound come? So why was she mute...? What sort of bad luck had befallen her so that she was covered in the most beautiful thing in the whole world... but could not produce it. Sourly, she frowned a little, clawing at one of the notes on her face.

Then she looked up in surprise as Valda flew up in protest. She had certainly not been expecting that and slumped guiltily. It was simply that he'd had the most beautiful voice she'd ever heard (the only actually). But she wished she could hear it again... wished she could replicate it. But this too was pointless for a mute like her. When he said that she had heard him sing, the small kit tried to smile helpfully... as if saying she liked it. She was far too young to understand all the complications beneath the surface.

Axis lay a black tipped paw on the little kit's, shaking her head down at Kaiiko'kii. "Don't do that." She said in a gentle but firm tone. She could sense the kit's unhappiness, and could guess why. Having music notes on her fur, yet being mute. How ironic. Maybe she should introduce her to Xara one day. Her mute sister was quite cheerful despite the circumstances...then again, Xara was fortunate enough to speak during the full moon.

"She thinks you sang nicely anyway." Axis informed the seraphim, ears twitching. She herself never heard her smaller friend sing, yet she was sure that the kit was right.

"Um...thanks." Valdaglerion looked guilty for a second, hovering a few inches above the table. "I mean, I just can't. If dad heard me...well...I can't let him hear me."

Can't. Cannot. Unable to be done.

It was a strange and negative thought, and even as it ran through her body... she processed it. And didn't like it. Why did something have to be can't? Couldn't it be ...can? To be able to do something. It can be done. Not it cannot. That was entirely different, and didn't seem to fit the amazingly sing song seraphim. Yet... there he was, saying such a negative thing, and Kaiiko'kii didn't understand it at all.

Why? Why? She wondered why he couldn't sing. Why would this 'dad' not like it? Would this 'him' disapprove of such things? How could anyone not like sound? Especially Valda's special sound: his singing. She just didn't understand, and was far too little to even be able to begin to comprehend much more than the negativity of the sound. His voice seemed ... off. Not cheery. And when Kiwi raised her eyes to look at Axis, she was asking why.
