My beef with Trent was when he said Korn's music is fake and they didn't wirte their songs on SYOTOS. Yeah bleedin' right.
Amy Winehouse annoys me because she's become the Paris Hilton of crackwhores. Damn really, so she's a crackwhore that can "sing" by definition of convention... the media needs to shut the hell up about her latest goings-on rolleyes

Yeah, I can't thank you enough for thinking of this thread. It gives us all a chance to showcase our analytical skills, as well as discuss them amongst ourselves smile . That and it's really interesting reading what the songs mean on a personal level to different Korn fans.
Also, Dani and I were talking the other day about this thread, any chance the new song up for analysis will be Here To Stay? biggrin
I don't think any of us submitted our interpretations to the comp, none of us live in Sydney sweatdrop

>[Well instead of beating a dead horse by adding my analysis I shall just move on to a new song. I am so glad to get such positive feedback on the thread ^_^ And sure we can do Here to Stay.....
New Lyrics! Here To Stay This time, taking it away I've got a problem With me getting in the way Not by design So I take my face and bash it into a mirror I won't have to see the pain (pain, pain)
This state is elevating, as the hurt turns into hating Anticipating all the ******** up feelings again
The hurt inside is fading This shits gone way too far All this time I've been waiting Oh I cannot grieve anymore For once inside awaking I'm done, I'm not a whore You've taken everything and, Oh I cannot give anymore
My mind's done with this Ok, I've got a question Can I throw it all away? Take back what's mine So I take my time, guiding the blade down the line Each cut closer to the vein (pain, pain
I'm here to stay (bring it down) I'm here to stay (bring it down) I'm here to stay (bring it down) I'm here to stay
Bring it down Bring it down Bring it down Bring it down
Gonna break it down Gonna break it down Gonna break it down Gonna break it down Gonna break it down Gonna break it down Gonna break it down GONNA BREAK IT!
Give anymore Give anymore Give anymore Give anymore]<

Well since you requested it here is my interpretation of Blind......
Ok well its not really an interpretation but rather what the song means to me. Blind is a very important song for me. Back when I was in high school I had a horrible problem with depression. There was a lot of messed up things in my life durring that time. This wasnt your everyday teenage angst, I actually had to get medically tested and put on medication because my levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain were all messed up. Anyway, durring that time I would literally just lock myself in my room and try to escape into my own mind. My self esteem was so low, I hated myself, I hated everything around me, and I just couldnt deal. I was spiraling down a path of self destricution, falling into a habit of actually mutilating myself and eventually tying to commit suicide. "This place inside my mind, a place I like to hide." Durring this time I was trying to escape the world and hide within my own mind, only to find that things were just as scary inside as all the s**t I was trying to escape in my life. All the time I knew I had a problem. I could see that the things I was doing was wrong and only making things worse. I could see that it wasnt the answer, but I couldnt stop myself from doing it. It became an addiction, the outer pain was helping numb the inner pain. I saw myself spiraling. "I can see, I can see, Im going blind." I was so blinded durring this time in my life, and I knew it, I could see the destruction I was causing to myself and others, but I couldnt seem do anything about it. This song is special to me, I listened to it along durring all this and because it seemed to literally narrorate what I was going through.

XxXAuroraXxX >[Doesnt anyone want to interpret? Or have I killed it with my last post? XD]< Sorry, no no it's just because I realised I had a 3000 word essay worth 80% of 1 subject to start researching; I haven't had much thought to put into a reply sweatdrop Anyway, I've been meaning to say - wow, Blind like a classic poem has so many meanings depending on the individual. I was astounded as to how deeply personal the song was to you. Just through Blind alone, I can see that many of the 'real' Korn fans are flawed individuals much like JD himself, responding to their problems in a myriad of ways - from repression to drugs. Adds a whole new level to Korn's songs. As for my interpretation of Here To Stay - it's coming up soon xD

My interpretation of Here To Stay:
This song for me has always been about repression, and attempting to overcome a problem before it turns into something worse and goes too far. It's also about letting go of a burden.
For me, this song is somewhat uplifting - it's like telling the world "******** this, I'm here to stay!" - nothing can kill me, I'm tired of all this but I'll see it through.
It ******** angers me that recently, especially after Head's departure, that reporters interpret this song literally - that's it about self-mutilation. That's simply bullshit. Jon's reference to "each cut closer to the vain, bleed bleed" is like bleeding out "bad blood" (like they did in medieval medicine). I take it to mean that before one is free from a bad situation, they have to be hurt first. As we bleed, we exorcise the demon. "Guiding the blade down the line"; slowly and deliberately we plan our actions, and wait till we see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"So I take my face, and bash it into a mirror - I won't have to see the pain" for me is a reference to emotions getting in the way ("with me getting in the way, not by design"). Expand a bit to the preceding line "not by design", I reckon refers to fear - it's not a deliberate action. Agh, hard to explain xD.
I said before, I when I first heard Here To Stay, I was uplifted. The first line alone was enough to make me stand up and yell to myself internally "get some ******** bollocks, pick yourself up and deal with it". Jon's reference to the mirror, I took, was alluding to the past; past hurts, fears and regrets. In order to get past that - you have to literally erase it and start anew - I had to do that alot, so "I won't have to see the pain".
Well... that's it for me now, sorry if none of that made any sense... I think I'm drunk again xD
