Laqueta felt him tense, still felt the battle he was fighting inside himself, and sat up when he moved away from her. She watched silently, more questions blooming in her mind about who this lion was that wanted to do her love in, but had a feeling he wouldn't answer if she asked. He was still building up a wall between them, one she was trying her damndest to break down.
Biting her own lower lip in frustration she looked down to the ground at the scar on her leg, before standing up. She began pacing, her frustration growing, but not her anger. She was too tired to even think of doing more arguing. "Ok, then I'll train myself harder learn to fight better...maybe I'll be the one to disappear and find someone to teach me how to do so if you won't....as it stands, let me be honest: Am I scared that there's some lion after you for some reason I know you won't tell me? Sure...does it scare me he could kill me just to get to you? Of course it does, but it doesn't change my resolve. Maybe you're not the one being selfish, maybe it's me...maybe I'm both foolish and selfish, but either way it stands, I'm not going to stay here any longer without you. I can't do it...don't you understand what it's doing to me? I will do whatever the hell I have to do to be with you, hun, even if it kills me."
She looked at him for a long moment before letting out a long sigh and laying back down with her head on her paws. "All I want is to be with the one I love. I don't want to be alone anymore. I don't care what it takes, I want to be with you"

"You don't know. You just don't." Regius laughed softly, shaking his head. His mane laying in front of his eyes. "But I guess I have to give you a chance to find out, right?" He grinned, a flash of light in that darkness. He nuzzled her gently. "You are more stubborn then I remember." He Sat back, brushing the chair our of his eyes with a paw. A long thin scar showed at the edge of his scalp. "You don't need to worry about training, about disappearing. I promise I won't leave you again." He tilted his head to the side and sighed. "This is my vow to you. I will not leave you. I will keep you safe. I will not run away from you. From us. I will keep this." He smiled softly. "I am sure you will wring more promises from me later. I just can't think of them." He laughed softly again, burying his face in her neck. "You are so..." He trailed off, shaking his head. "I love you, my dear." He pulled back far enough to lick her muzzle before burying his face back against her neck.

Laqueta's heart was cheered by his smile, and she returned her own to him though she knew he couldn't see it. "I never said I did, love, but I want to...eventually." She laughed when he called her stubborn, and for the first time since he'd came back she began to relax. "I've changed a great deal while you've been gone..." She eyed the long thin scar, troubled by it, but merely licked it gently and lovingly. His vow to her just made her love him all the more, even if he had changed, his heart was the same as was hers.
Maybe outwardly they were no longer the same lions the other had come to first love, but she liked the idea of getting to know this new Regius alot more intimately than she'd let herself do before. Her purr was deep, as if it came from her heart and she closed her eyes and reveled in his touch, a shiver coursing through her body. Opening one eye when his voice started to trail off, she tried to complete his sentence and offered, "Stubborn? Rebellious? Weird? No wait...I got a better one. I am so in love with you too, dear heart."

Regius pushed her head with his own, standing again. He had to much energy to keep still. And she smelled... happy. Finally happy. Just because she was being stubborn, rebellious, and weird didn't mean she wasn't happy. How could he have kept himself from her all this time? Well, that was actually easy being as he thought he was protecting her. That she wouldn't want him back anyway. But, he could protect her here. Maybe. Mostly.
Ricten was going to kill them both, in the end. Bloody crazy lion. How many times had they fought over the years he was gone, how many times did they end in standstill. Ricten wouldn't give up. Not until Reg and whomever he loved was dead. Which is why he'd stayed away. Because the other lion had a good reason to want to hurt him. Even Laqueta would turn away from him, if she knew. Which is why she wouldn't. Ever.
Regius nuzzled Laqueta again. "Do you want to see if you can catch me?"

Laqueta had a feeling this battle had been won a bit too easily, that he was still keeping much from her. Though she felt happier than she ever had in her life before, she couldn't help but wonder what he refused to say. She had a feeling if she tried to force it out of him, he'd clam up, maybe even leave her again...but how did she convince him that she wasn't afraid of the truth? Maybe that answer would come in time...perhaps this was something she had to leave for him to decide to tell her. He'd promised to stay, and the thought of that alone made her heart soar.
She shifted positions till she was pressing up against his side, her tail entwining with his as she licked his cheek. "I've caught you now...besides, you always were faster than me. Right now, this is where I want to be..." Honestly, playing tag was probably not the best thing...she'd had too many dreams of trying to catch him and never succeeding to want to see it happen in real life. Despite her willingness to believe in what he'd promised, there was still that part of her heart that wasn't sure if it was true. Only time would fix that.
