Haya's ears flicked one way and then the other while Alyna talked about his half brothers. He really felt like he ought to try to get to know them too if even non family members seemed to know them this well. He had been trying to get around to hanging out with them more but his own baskets and foals had kept him too busy to go far. Once the foals were grown, he promised himself. Then he'd go meet his relatives.
"Well... if you see any of my half-sibs, tell them that their brother Haya wants to hang out with them!" He flashed a wide grin. "You'll probably see them before I do, the way things seem to work around here."

Alyna grinned at him. "I sure will. Although, I doubt that I'll see them again before you will. But, on the off chance that I do, I'll let them know. You never know, they may decide to come visit you!" Alyna chuckled, imagining Karma swooping down to see Haya. She still pictured him as a foal, even though she knew he was an adult now. Yet another reason for her to go find him, to set her perception of him straight.

"Eeeeeh..." Haya smiled sheepishly. "I don't even really know if they know where I live. I've never really given them much reason to come visit me. I guess I'm just the odd older half-brother with a weird tail." He waggled around his tail for emphasis.
"I really... really ought to go see them. Maybe take one or two of my foals. Mom would like seeing them, I think." His tone grew increasingly musing as he considered his options. "I've never really gotten to know her mate, either..."

"No, I'm sure it's not like that." Alyna said, a frown on her face. "They're sure to be curious about you, after all, you're family." She smiled and added, "And your tail's not weird. I rather like it. After all, that tail getting stuck was the whole reason we met. Otherwise, you would've just kept on running."
Alyna laughed. "You know, I haven't gotten to know either your mom or her mate. I'm just as clueless about him as you are," she shook her mane out of her eyes, and continued, "I bet the foals would like it, too. They'd get to meet their grandmother."
Alyna thought for a while, remembering that it had been weeks since she had been home. Perhaps she should return, if only for a short visit. Her mother would be worried about her, after all.

"Well, I could take you to meet one of my kids or Mom or something if you wanted," Haya offered cheerily. "Mom always nags that I don't visit enough anyways."
While considering the idea, he laughed with embarrassment. "I don't know what Mom would think if I introduced another mare before my mate, though. It'd be... a bit strange..." He grew chagrined while thinking about it. He really didn't visit home enough. He didn't even really know his mother's new lifemate. They seemed really happy together and that had been enough for Haya, but one of these days he ought to meet him more thoroughly.

Alyna chuckled. "No, I don't think that's such a good idea. She should meet your mate first. It would be a bit weird if she met me first." Alyna thought of her own mother. She hadn't visited home in a long while. "I actually haven't been home in a while. I should go visit my own mother...I'm sure she's worried about me, as many scrapes as I got into as a foal." She smiled at Haya. "I ran away so many times...I met lots of new Soquili, but Mama...she always worried that I'd gotten myself hurt. I never did, though, I was lucky."

"I made Mom worry a lot as a foal too," Haya admitted with another grin. "She's always really loving but sometimes... a little too much. Even foals need their space." He wondered in retrospect if some of his mother's protectiveness had been to try to shield him from any negative reactions to his tail. He couldn't remember any particularly traumatic events from his childhood but it would have been pretty sad if there had been one. Maybe she had been right to watch over him so closely...
Or maybe not. "Adventuring is still lots of fun. You never meet anyone just standing around chewing grass. Maybe it's about time mothers picked up on that!"

"My mom was pretty much the same way. But she was a new mom, and I gave her loads of reasons to watch me closely. Even though she was trying to protect me, I still felt smothered." Alyna laughed, remembering all the times she had gotten in trouble. "I probably gave her one or two gray hairs will all my escapades."
"I know! I didn't meet anybody by staying home." Alyna grinned at Haya. "I met everyone I know by adventuring, or exploring. If I hadn't been so disobedient as a foal, I wouldn't know you, or everyone else."
