Some people just don't have enough control

I usually do, I just went abit mad that night which is why I'm pissed at myself. One of my mates actually said something nice to me and I can't remember it. How idiotic of me. Next time I'm definitley gonna take it alot easier.

smile
Most people don't care that they haven't got control.

Haha, so in that way, I'm a responsible drunk! xd

Depends on your definition of drunk. There are varying levels.
I get tipsy/drunk about once a week when I can afford it. (That whole "I live for the weekend" thing really applies to me, plus I have alot of stress in my everyday life). I get completley wasted about once every month or every month and a half.
I'm not a drunk or an alcoholic, even though my friends call me it as a joke-it's just because I'm a lightweight.

nah you're not an alcoholic. That's for someone who actually can't go without having a drink. You do seem to drink quite often though. Most people do in their late teens, so it's nothing to worry about..but still.

Actually, compared to most other people in my year at school, I don't drink that much. Seriously, I can't explain it well via Gaia but I only drink a little bit at the weekends, not loads. I only drink loads if A)I can afford it, B)The people there won't care if I humiliate myself and C)I believe that my liver is due a hit.
And it's really rare that those three conditions are met. So I'm not horribly worried about the impact on my health. I see your point though, and I can understand why people would find that reason to be worried.

Minimum requirement for me to say I've been drinking is 5 measures.

one beer is one measure, and one shot is one measure.

So any combination of beers and shots that are over five in total, I consider it as drinking.

And I only drink once or twice a month biggrin

Except when it's summer.

Then it can go up to three times a week.

*cough*

Though I've only gotten sick three times since I started drinking

So that's three years that include an average of 50 drinking nights a year

Not bad cool

Hi Neit, long time no see smile

I don't drink that much simply because I'm such a lightweight. Once I've had about 4 or 5 I start to get unbalanced and know to stop, although sometimes I carry on just for the hell of it. My max number of drinks in one night is 8 and that put me off drinking for a good while as I had quite a long conversation with my toilet bowl when I got home confused

So I'd say that's a disadvantage but it's the price you pay for the advantages-one which springs to mind is the breaking down of social barriers. Once when I was drunk, I spoke to this guy that I hated for about 45 minutes and then hugged him which made things between us good. I wouldn't have spoken to him had I not been drinking. Unfortunatley, he started acting like a jackass again but hey.

Muahaha, I would call you a pansy ninja

I was a heavyweight since I started drinking, I didn't get to this state with practice, so it encouraged drinking sweatdrop

And yeah, breaking of social barriers is very good... especially when it comes to opposite sex <.< >.>

Lightweight =/= Pansy stare

Oh I know what you mean about that, even though my girlfriend and I met at a Nightwish concert where we were both perfectly sober xd

The media at the moment is making a big deal about people thinking they don't drink alot if they have a 6 pints in one night but only do it once in a while, instead of every week. But doctors are still saying that's a drinking problem..just cause people don't do it every week doesn't mean it's not gunna affect your health having 6 pints or more all at once.

Yeah, the average male has an allowance of 21 units of alcohol per week(1 unit is half a pint of beer, a small glass of wine or a shot). Experts say that these units should be spread out over the week instead of compacted into one night at the weekend. 21 units is like 10 pints which I'd never manage in one night. Even so, alcohol is just generally not good for me and I drink it anyway-it's the same with fatty food that you know you shouldn't be eating but you do anyway.

Fatty food is overexagerated. Sure it makes you fat if you eat hamburgers every day but I don't eat 5 fruit and veg every day, I'll be lucky if I do that in a week to be honest, but I don't eat really unhealthily either. Just so long as you don't eat lods every day there isn't anything wrong with it, same with alchohol 3nodding

See, I think that too, but apparently I'm still doing myself damage by drinking at the weekend.
A few friends are coming up to mine tomorrow night because the weather's been nice the past few weeks. We're gonna sit and chat out the back garden and maybe have a few drinks but no way am I gonna be drunk. I suppose that's the safe way to drink (apart from just not drinking at all), just a little bit every now and then.

What does annoy me though, are the people who are very strongly against alcohol and claim that drinking it is idiotic. They'd be saying the same thing about cannabis but look how many talented musicians produced pieces of musical gold when they were completley off their heads? It annoys me when people say stuff like "Alcohol is idiotic and only idiots need it." They assume that people who drink are all bumbling morons who pass out on street corners or get some 16 year old pregnant. To those people I'd say : "We're not all like that you know!"

Anyway, that's my rant done biggrin

I think people who cannot stop before they become completely plastered are idiots. I also think people who cannot socialise or have a good tiem without needing to get drunk to have fun, are idiots. But just people who drink..they're not idiots. You need to be able to control your intake of alcohol, just like fatty foods. But most people can't.
