the only reason he even bothered to follow along was for the sake of his grandson and nothing more. if he allowed Ramus to get killed well aruna and raum would definatly never allow him to live it down which he didnt need that. not bothering to out pace her and he allowed her to be the one upfront specialy when this wwas her family, her problem in his eyes.
Ramus kept up just fine and kept pace wit his grandfather as Firefly now lead the way. hopefuly this attempt would prove not a failed attempt as his last two times. eyes narrowed, he kept all doubts from his mind.

Firefly stopped short of the treeline. Ears perked forward ever more and eyes watching closely.
For a split second she was as still as a stone statue. But then turned her head to look back, mainly at Ramus. "They're right here. Just beyond these trees and I can see Dragonfly is there as well. The others won't mess with us unless he says so. And I figure we can at least gain conference so that we can confront him." Turning her head back around, she spotted a desheveld mare standing near him. She instantly knew who it was.
"Dafina...." Her daughters name came out softly in a relieved sigh. "Lets go." With a flick of her tail, she marched slowly out of the trees. Head held high.
All eyes of the herd turned to her. Some in surprise, others...well. Lets just say they were less than friendly looks.

Rahu kept silent the whole time. honestly he had no reason to speak or even come out of their hiding spot but he followed along side Ramus anyways. ignoring the eyes watching them, he contiuned on his way as if nothing was going on, not that it mattered to him unless some fool dragged him into the middle of things more than he already was.
Ramus flicked his ears back at all the attention they seemed to have gathered from showing up. he held his head high with pride as he walked, knowing they where about to confront Dafina's grandfather whom he had failed more than once to beat.

The Soquili in front of them moved out of the way. Clearing a path for the three to walk down. If anything they all knew what was going on. Word spread fast amongst Dragonfly's followers.
Firefly cast glances at a few who stepped aside before her eyes shot straight forward. At the end of the long path stood the dark stallion. Bright red eyes fixated on the trio as they drew closer. A shiver ran up her spine but she kept walking. Spotting Dafina not too far off standing close, or being guarded by two large stallions. One of them she recognized all too well.
Silence had been cast amongst his herd. Dragonfly stood there, head held high and his long mane billowing in the warm spring breeze. Eyes staring straight ahead.
A stallion moved to step forward but he let out a grunt. Signaling for him to step back. He would face the three with no help. Dragonfly did not need it.
Turning his head, he made sure that Dafina was still well guarded before looking back to them. He recognized Firefly of course and the young stallion. But who was this darker stallion who seemed to walk with an attitude?
No matter.
He knew what they were here for.
Dafina tried to get as good a look around the larger bodies of the stallions guarding her. Her head bobbed and weaved back and forth as she tried to see what all the commotion was about. Why everyone had fell silent.
In one brief moment she had caught a glimpse of her mother. But her father was no where in sight. A heavy frown set itself upon her lips. But in another instant she soon caught sight of Ramus. Her heart fluttered.
There might be a chance!
Though the third companion amongst them she did not know. Why he was there, she hadn't the faintest. But she hoped he was here to help them as well.
The young mare was ready to go back to her true home.

just as ramus had thought, they wherent going to get any trouble from the others as he had figured Dragonfly would want to deal with them alone. fixed on the goal ahead, seeing Dafina guarded like a prisoner only further fulled is intent on geting her free.
Rahu could tell almost right away who the leader of the herd was and who ramus was going to try and challage again, just by noticing how one of the others moved forward but instantly moved back at the signal of the other. smirking now, it seemed his gradnson certain got himself into a large amount of trouble. it should be interesting to see exsactly what would come of this.

Firefly stopped only a few feet away from her father. Dark red eyes meeting with his own bright red ones. Her ear twitched, sending the red and black feathers that dangled around them whirling.
She glanced back at Rahu and Ramus, but did not turn her head. Eyes turning back to the older dark stallion. A frown on her face as she flicked her long two toned tail.
"Father, this will end here today. Dafina will not go with you."
The old stallions eyes shone dangerously as the three finally got close and his daughter had stopped. Her words resulted in a heavy snort. His nostrils flaring.
A circle of bodies had now surrounded them as the herd looked on. Some in amusement, some with worry. Especially from an older mare who stood closer to the edge of the crowd.
"We shall see, daughter. We shall see." He turned to Ramus. That same devilish smirk curling the corner of his lips. "Are you prepared to loose again?" A quick jab to the young stallions pride. Dragonfly would not loose again. He was sure of it.
Turning back to Firefly, he eyed her casually. "Fine. Let him try and beat me. But you know the rules. If he fails....you and Dafina will join the herd."
"Fine." Was all that the mare replied with. She had great hopes in Ramus and knew he would not fail her now. Taking a few steps backwards, she reached his side, leaning in close to his ear. "I have great confidence in you Ramus." Her voice fell low and very quiet. "Go for his left back knee. He may seem invincible, but an old wound to that knee has left it weak. Hit it enough and he will fall." Turning, she gave him one last glance before moving to stand amongst the others in the outer edge of the circle they had created.
Her eyes watched intensely, waiting for it to begin.
Biting her bottom lip, Dafina almost made herself bleed. But the pain was the last thing her mind was focused on.
She as well, waited with baited breath.

Ramus just gave a cocky smirk more so to piss the other off than anything as he did not like beign reminded of his failed attempts. " 3rd times a charm." there was even more pressure put on him now more than before since if he lost Dafina and her mother would be gone which would end up breakign up that family and he would not allow himself to be the reason for it. a sudden smirk came to his face as Firefly gave him some little nfo that would help him win.
Rahu stood off to the side, smirking the whole time. if Aruna got after him for allowing Ramus to fight well he would jsut say he attempted(thoug half heartedly did so) and it was Ramus' decison. watching intently, he would allow ramus to win or lose athis own will and had no plans to interfer in this as it wasnt his style.

The circle grew wider and quit quickly so. Young stallions and older a like pushed their way to the front for a better view. Many of the mares simply hung back.
Dragonfly started walking around the edge of the circle. "In some cases yes..." He would wait. The older stallion wasn't about to make the first move. At least not if he had to.
And he would not allow anyone to interfere. He had made that severely clear to all the members of his herd. There would be consequences.
This was his fight.
He stopped, pawed at the ground and lowered his head. Letting his nostrils flare as a hard puff of breath came from them.
He was ready.

Ramus calmly watched Dragonfly walk the edge of the circle and then stop. knowign he had an advantage of knowing his weak spot made him want to rush in and fight but that was the mistake he did last time. pawing the ground, hhe knew he had to make the first move since the other more experianced would wait for the first attack. well he would give him that first move he would more than expect out of him, and in hopes to give him a chance to get at dragonflys weakness. lowerign his head slightly he went charging.

His smirk grew wider as Ramus charged. Deja vu.
Dragonfly's tail snapped back and forth as he waited for the stallion to get close. And in one swift turn on his heels he swung his body right, allowing Ramus to fly right past him.
In just a few quick steps he was on the other side of the circle. His head lowered and sharp hooves pawing at the ground. A burst of energy ran through the muscles in his back legs as he sprung forward. Hooves flying and teeth chomping to catch anything to bite.

hehe just as he expected Dragonfly to do though he hadnt expected him to be on the other side fo the circle and come right at him. in retaliation he kicked and tryed to bite anything he could in hopes of geting in a lucky kick to his leg that he needed to go after to win. he took beating as he had become rather good at taking them but there would be only so much he could take in the end.

He had to admit. The young stallion had gotten better. A little.
At least he was able to land a few blows and bites. But still, Dragonfly merely pranced out of many strikes with no contact.
Whirling around, he charged again. This time stopping short and rearing up onto his back legs. Front legs flailing as he tried to land a hit with his sharp hooves. Perhaps he would see if that shoulder he had nearly broke of Ramus' was still a little tender.
Dragonfly intended to end this once and for all.

Ramus cracked a smle as Dragonflyed reared and kicked at him. ofcourse his shoulder wasnt completely fine and still tender but he would bite threw any pain to get to the one knee. he took a chance and went for the left back knee.

Fortunately for Ramus and unfortunately for Dragonfly, that kick connected.
Letting out a roar of pain, the large stallion teetered for a moment before both back knees gave out and he fell to the ground in a crumpled heap. But as soon as he fell, he struggled to get back up.
A long ago injury to his back knee still effected him today. How could he have known? It must of been a lucky shot!
Dragonfly flopped on the ground. The pain still roaring through his back leg. The members of his herd gasped and mumbled amongst themselves as their leader struggled to get back onto his feet. Which in fact he did, but he favored his leg back leg. Letting it dangle in the air, eyes blazing with fury.

Ramus now circled Dragonfly, and watched him with narrowed eyes. seeing Dragonfly now favoring the back leg he ment to kick, he smirked knowing the tables where turned. oh he was beyond glad he had sucked up his pride last time and didnt end up with a broke shoulder that would have hindered him in the same way though it was still tender atlest he could deal with it. " care to contiune or your done?"
