May God bless you.

You're absolutely right, moosiklady!

I forgot to mention why Eve was taken from Adam's rib (Genesis 2:21-24). She was taken from his side so that they could live and work side-by-side, just as God intended from the very beginning. She was not made from his foot so he could walk on her, and she was not made from a part of his head so she could be over him. But rather, she was made from his side.

I was very interested when I heard this in a church sermon, and when I went to find out more information, I found that many Christian scholars have also come to this conclusion. It's even up on wikipedia and encyclopedia.com:

"...a rib..." (Genesis 2:21-24) - Hebrew tsela` can mean side, chamber, rib, or beam. The traditional reading of "rib" has been questioned recently by scholars who suggest it should instead be rendered as "side," which would support the idea that the woman is equal with, and not subordinate to, the man. -- Taken from textual notes on Adam and Eve.

Zora -

I heard a great wedding sermon about how the rib's protect the man's heart. Symbolically suggesting wives protect their husband emotionally. The ribs are protected by the arms - so the husband protects the wife physically! Isn't that a great way of thinking about it!

Anyway - even if we should 'obey' our husbands, if we do it grudingly because WE HAVE TO, or SHOULD - that can't ultimately be good for anything. It's like trying to earn your way into heaven, instead of receiving it as a gift.

Our obedience, our good deeds, should be in response to the love of God, and the love of our husbands. Then it becomes our way of expressing our love and gratitude for them!

As I said before - I am obedient to my husband - but he's also a very loving husband, and when never ask me to do anything against my better judgement! It never really feels like 'obeying' - more like working together, cooperating....something I think we all agree married couples should be doing!

I truly believe that God had great plans for both men and women in mind when He created them. Many do not agree. All simply because we look down on Eve (don't get me wrong, you have every right xd ).

It's not time for a change, it's time to end the ignorance. If you study the Greek Bible, there's not nearly as many times that it talks about man being over woman (or things that can be interpreted this way. It never says man and then woman, it says humans). If it does talk about superiority, it's a cultural thing. In Biblical times, if a woman spoke out or went about doing things without her husband's permission, she would be in huge trouble. Most likely stoned, or put to death is some sort of manner. So it woul;d make sense that the Bible says to be submissive to your husband, would it not? I mean, if your husband said for you to do something, and you said no and someone overheard, you'd be stoned.

I hope this adds something to the conversation. I didn't read the pages so it may have already been posted.
