Only a few minutes had passed, but already Xyn's mind had raced through a dozen possibilities for the day. Still stirring underneath the sheets of his bed, his body started to feel like he'd been in bed for several days. No matter how tired he might have been from the early hour, something made him restless.

"... birthday." Xyn sighed, lifting himself from the bed and letting the sheets slowly slip off of him. He made a quick twist of his body and fell to the bed on his back, keeping just his left eye closed as he usually did.

He finally ast up, the eyepatch already in his left hand as he turned his feet toward the floor. There was no point in wasting the day. It was his birthday so...

Xyn stretched his back out, standing as tall as he could while he adjusted the eyepatch strap. He tok a moment, simply standing in that one spot, to make sure all his physical functions were alert. Even though he usually got up early, he wasn't used to this time of day. He looked out the window at the sun, soon taking a step toward it. He held out his hands and placed them together in the warm light. It was time to do something that he wanted. Going to class day after day was starting to get tiresome. He'd get stronger on his own if he had to do so. He figured he had enough training to do that much at the least.

Ram Snake Tiger

His mind only needed to think of the words for his hands to form the seals. It wasn't a technique he used that often, but it was the first jutsu he had truly learned. Unfortunately, the amount of chakra he poured into the clone caused it to explode right in front of him. The force was only that of a small breeze, but it was disappointing nonetheless. He was either doing it too fast, or with too much effort. It was also possible that it was just too early for such an exercise. None of this was going to stop him, he hadn't even given it much thought before he started moving his figners around ocne again. His will to take his time only caused the clone to vanish while it was still transparent. He started to wonder if he would be better off trying henge. It was the most recent one he used and would probably need the most practice.... but he didn't have a clue who he would want to look like.

Having warmed up just slightly, Xyn started taking a lighter grasp of his chakra. He squeezed his fingers tightly into a fist several times, the knuckles popping one by one. Before a change in the pattern could be noticed, he had already made another set of seal. This time the clone fully formed, mimicing Xyn almost as a perfect mirror. Xyn scanned his creation carefully, letting his hands drop slowly as he did the same. He took a step to his right, letting the clone move through the sunlight as the two of them seemed to switch places. The clone appeared as it always did; there was no shadow, and the light passed through it as if nothing was there. Even though this was normal for a clone, it was still an illusion he controlled. With enough skill, making a shadow and bending light shouldn't be a problem. He could easily make the clone look real as long as he accounted for all the usual inconsistancies.

The easiest task would have to be casting a shadow. Xyn only had to look down at his own shadow and reflect that within the illusion. But he and his clone took a step toward each other, the real one stepping to the clone's side. It was only a minor effort to create a shadow this way, Xyn merely copied his own from the same position. Even so, the illusion couldn't stretch too far. If he were to do that, his chakra might not be able to maintain a solid appearance.

Xyn pressed his hands together in a focusing stance, using the tiger seal as if he had finished performing the jutsu again. He was starting to feel the affect on his chakra from holding this jutsu, but he was far from worn out.

Xyn circle around his clone, while the clone did the same around Xyn. Just standing still wasn't going to help him train. He'd have to be able to concentrate on doing this type of thing and be able to move in an instant. Now that his clone had a shadow, the next task was to prevent the sunlight from passing through it. A shadow was useless if a light was being cast on it. Doing such a thing started to slip farther from his mind as the two copied each other. Sometimes the clone would act first, and sometimes Xyn would act first, but both continued to do the same actions. Moving around in such a way, Xyn was focused on maintaining a believable shadow. Every move his clone made, the shadow had to be adjusted just slightly. The shadow was just a dark blob on the floor and bed, but still enough to confuse an opponent.

Xyn finally came to a stop, but allowed his clone to keep going. Performing identical actions was just to test how well the illusion could act as he wanted. The boy walked over to his closet, while the clone suddenly jumped over the bed. Xyn would most likely never try such a thing, but with a clone there was no fear of injuring or embarrassing himself. Since he was still wearing his night clothes, which were just loose-fit white shirt and pants, Xyn grabbed his clothes, still keeping most of his attention on his clone. He didn't plan on trying to change clothes and use the jutsu at the same time, but he'd have to get dressed eventually. He tossed the clothes toward the bed while his clone crossed behind him and went back toward the window.

Xyn started to wonder about Munin. That raven would probably be a good partner to test his skill on, since animals had better senses than humans. But where could he find that bird this time of day? Both Munin and Hugin usually slept in the forest of sorrows, although Xyn couldn't understand how any creature could live in such a place. The boy was starting to get frustrated with the strain of constantly changing the illusion as it moved. He could tell his chakra had already nearly been depleted by such a simple task. Maybe he should be more concerned with building that instead of making a better clone. What use was a clone if he wore himself out using it?

At any rate, Xyn had to concentrate harder while he still had the strength to maintain the clone or he'd probably pass out. Even though it was an ideal place to rest with the bed just a step away, he'd hate to have to put off completing any task just to rest.

Knowing he was working with the last bits of his chakra, Xyn focused all his attention on the clone. He'd put all the strength he had left into completing this task if that's what it took. Normally he wouldn't take the risk of devoting all his chakra to a single purpose without resting, but he had rested enough, and it was always annoying to allow for such a delay.

The clone's shadow had nearly solidified, all that was left was preventing the light from passing through it. In a well lit area, something like that would be relatively unnoticeable, but with the window the only source of light, it passed through the clone like a blade. Xyn stepped closer to the clone, the light bending and finally disappearing from the floor, only showing as a bright spot on the clone's back. So it worked? Xyn was about to experience a sense of accomplishment when the illusion became irratic and rapidly vanished in a puff of smoke. Whatever thoughts he had of reasoning what had happened fell into the back of his mind as Xyn also fell, though catching himself enough to flop onto the bed.

The door creaked open with a kunia readied Sorri behind it he focused over his bed and tossed his projectile, then left off just as quickly as he came. The note for his always unwelcome roommate had was attached. Both sloppily done and somewhat incorrect.

His mind went blank for a moment, which for Xyn was nothing short of a miracle. Such an unexpected moment of peace was inevitably short-lived. Xyn took in a deep breath as if it was the first one he had taken in hours, whipping his head upright so he was once again facing the window. He might have overdone it just a little bit that time...

Xyn let his head tilt down and closed his eyes just slightly. He started to remember a strange sound at the door, but it was far from interested in such a thing at the moment. Where was a good place to go...? He couldn't go to the library, not as long as that person was there.

Xyn let out a long breath, which he had been holding since he sat up. His energy was starting to return to him, but he wasn't going to waste time like this. Despite feeling on edge about going out, it would be pathetic to spend his entire birthday in his room. It was too bad there wasn't some sort of festival like when it was Munin's birthday... where was that raven anyway?

-Sun Candy-

PostPosted: Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:38 pm

Serena awoke, knowing that she must have overslept. She closed her eyes and sighed, and then opened them again, as if she was waiting for something to happen. Nothing. The Raiken turned her head to the clock on her table..'too late for school.' Of course, it wasn't too late. She could always make a mad dash for it and catch up as fast as possible, but something held her back today. It wasn't like her to skip school, but it was just a..feeling..that was keeping her from going. She sat up in bed and looked around..Serena really didn't want to wake up yet. She fell back again and tried to sleep, but it was too late. She was already too awake to drift back. She slid out of bed and began fixing herself up..changing clothes, brushing teeth. When she was done, she looked into the mirror and sighed..she felt like being lazy today..like something was dragging her down. 'Well, if I'm skipping school today, I might as well go out and get some air.' Serena slipped into some shoes and went out the door and stopped to breathe the air. She smiled and began walking towards the direction of the village, spirits a little bit more uplifted.

Still a little woozy from draining all his chakra, Xyn took his time getting dressed. Was it noon already? He could hardly see the sunlight coming through the window, but it was still quite bright and early. The boy took his cloak hanging from the bed post and swung it over his shoulders as he headed to the door, only to be immediately stopped by the sight of the kunai imbedded with a note.

"... pleay... in... class... ... jungles?" Xyn's eyes squinted in several different ways before he finally let out a loud grunt and ripped down the note. How did Sorri expect him to read such handwriting? Without a second thought, Xyn left the kunai in the door and walked his usual pace down the hall. If Sorri wanted that item so badly, he shouldn't have left it behind.

-Twilight Time (Why is this taking so long?!)-
Zero grumbled to himself as he pushed the thoughts out of his head and turned back to the task at hand. He had his ingredients. He had his tools. It was time to start with the actual baking. He pulled the ingredients, pots and mixers in front of him. He picked the slip of paper with the recipe back up and took one of his characteristic cleansing deep breaths. He read over the first few steps carefully. After rereading them three times he felt prepared to start. He opened up a few of the containers and dipped a measuring cup into it. He scooped up the prescribed amount and poured it gently into the pan. As he did so he could swear he heard snickering. He looked over his shoulder and saw nothing. He frowned and turned back to his work. As he continued the laughter and chuckles became more obvious.
"God you are such a woman." He heard from nowhere. An undignified groan escaped his throat. "Shut up Charles." He thought in reply.

Kana opened the door to the apartment complex slowly and peeked his head inside, proceeding on only after he had deemed it safe. He sprinted up the stairs quickly, he had no time to waste. It was nearly dark out and he hadn't even packed yet! The young genin slipped his key from a pocket and slid it into the door handle and jiggled it gently, then forcing open the door. He walked in slowly and shut the door behind him. Kana walked into his room and pulled out the backpack he used for missions, which already had rations inside and a sleeping bag rolled up and strapped to the top. "Okay, I need clothes..." Kana said as he went through all of his droors and stuffed his backpack full of junk. He even packed his small clothes so Kazuma would have something to wear. The young man checked himself for weapons, he had his ninja to on him already and didn't think he needed much else. "Right, off to the shoreline." He said to himself as he strapped the backpack on. He opened the door and locked it behind him, then shuffled quickly down the stairs and out the door towards the village but his ultimate destination was the shoreline.

Tetsu woke up harshly standing up from his bed. He kinda groaned but then his attitude brightened as he remembered today was the day he would enter the academy. A smile crept across his face with his eyes still half closed. He stretched up his arms and stretching his back yawning loudly wondering if his mother had been up. He scratched his head and grabbed his cloths. He slipped on his shirt stumbling around still half asleep. He ran into the wall trying to fight with his shirt to put it on. He fell backwards laughing as he fell. "I'll be a great ninja, not even able to balance enough to put a shirt on." He said as he rolled backward onto his hands then to his feet. He picked up his pants and slipped into them bouncing around trying to get them on. He fell once more, this time onto his bed. "Better than the floor I suppose." He said smiling as he stood back up. He walked out into the living room where he thought he'd find his mom. She wasn’t there. "She must of went out somewhere then. Hmm...to where?" He asked himself but he didn’t bother to think much of it. He went into their bathroom and grabbed his red tie. He brushed out his hair some and tied it up. He grabbed some of the foot wrappings and sat down on the floor wrapping his feet up tight and he stood up kicking to make sure they were on good enough. He looked outside "Looks sunny." He said as he opened the door and walked out onto the ground. "COLD!" He yelped and ran back inside. "IT'S FREEZING OUT!" He yelled inside his house. He ran around his house frantic looking for a coat and some warm shoes to put on. He found a coat inside the house baring the mark of the Uchiha. He put it on and buttoned it up. "Now for the next mission, finding shoes that fit." He said laughing a little as he walked around his household looking for a good pair of shoes. Eventually he found some and he slipped them on. "Eh not good to ware but I'll take this stuff off at the academy." He said smiling. "Eh my mom will know where I'm at. I told her I'd leave as soon as possible." He said as he left his house locking the door behind him. He was ready in his mind but was he actually prepared to become a ninja. He had assumed so he made his way toward the village to go and become a student at the academy.
