Shuga's radar went off when she heard the little whine from the lion. "WE DO NOT WHIMPER! WE ARE TATEGAMIS!" she shouted at the little kit with such vigor that it sent the birds nested atop the stalks of bamboo flying into the air. Of course, this little outburst would also send prey away from them, but Kore had to be taught the honor of the Tategami clan, even at a young age. Shuga studied Kore as he walked around in circles and tried to calm down. They waited for a while before the two birds from before came back to where they had been pecking at the ground. It must've been a spot with seeds since they came back to it. Shuga got down with Kore and kept close as the kit began to advance. He was learning quickly. Now, she wanted to see if he could pounce on the birds without a hitch. It would be tough to wrestling them down and keep them down, but they had the element of surprise. "G," Shuga only made a sound of a 'g' in her throat to just give a small noise to set Kore off to pounce. Hopefully, he would execute this with perfection, but Shuga didn't hold her breath.

Kore stalked silently replaying all the events that had happened in this forest in such a short span of time. From his miss to the large womens outburst which he still did not grasp. He would save that information for a later time. It seemed his actions after his failure were more appalling then his actions leading up the failure. Now in range he heard the slightest sound come from behind him and he jumped but did not run.
The bird heard the slight growl come from him and all it could do was turn before Kore's teeth were around its neck. His small fangs bearing down tighter and tighter. Slamming a paw down he lifted up and looked the animal squirm for a second. Licking the blood from around his lips he soaked in the moment of his own success.

Kore looked down into the birds eyes. Not feeling any remorse for the creature not because he was cold or cruel but because it was the circle of life. Kneeling down Kore found a firm grip around the birds thin neck, biting down tightly he lifted the bird up to his normal shoulder height and shook it violently for a good half a minute. When he stopped the bird dropped from his mouth limp. Kore knelt his head down again and nudge the bird with his nose before picking it up and dropping it at Shuga's feet. He was proud of his second kill. The more he accumulated the better hunter he would become. He was already ahead of his sister. Which by Kore's mind process assumed was still sleeping at the grounds.

"Good job, Kore!" Shuga said as she bent down to pat the little lion on the top of his head while her other hand scratching underneath his chin, being a little careful not to get blood on her hand in caise the bird had dripped. "Let's go make something to eat for Maya while cooking up some of our own grub," Shuga said as she began walking back to the Tategami grounds. Kore would soon learn the path from the tents to the bamboo forest with his eyes closed! It was a great hunting ground despite the lack of cover and it was one of Shuga's favorite training grounds for the clan. "Time for a warm cup of sake and then some hot eats! If you think raw meat is good, just wait till you had Shuga's specialty meat slightly cooked over the fire," Shuga said, while holding the pheasant's feet as she carried it next to her side.

Kore purred deep in his throat vibrating the top of his light furred body. He had finally succeeded in impressing Shuga once again, but it took far longer then he had hoped for. Cocking his head slightly the woman said something about sake as if it was wonderful. She also said something about food one word he recognized at so young an age. That made him excited his eyes growing wide. Beginning to follow her he smiled heavily as he circled around her. He was ready for some food and if this meal was going to Maya that also meant that Baki would know of his kill as well. It would earn him a slight jump in respect showing Baki he was capable of hunting on his own. With some help from Shuga of course.

Kore walked into the Bamboo forest bounding up and down. The simple mention of the word hunting made Kore more excited than he had ever been in his entire life. He loved to haunt the simple thrill and the pleasure from it was more then he could bear. He remembered the first time Shuga brought him here with that stupid stick. It had been the most confusing period of his life but because of it he was a better hunter. The second time was much better except for being yelled at by Shuga. Something about Tategami don’t whimper, which he did at that moment. He had made a mistake which upset him but what he did after that was shameful. Still bonding around Karite he had almost completely forgotten what Shuga had taught him.

Karite followed Kore whose personality seemed to almost imitate his normal every day one, so happy and unaware of the chaos that swirled around him. He noticed though that in his happiness the little guy had forgotten the reason they were here. Knowing Maya she would have taught him better than that and coming to the conclusion that she learned from Shuga he was sure she taught him better then such. Turning to the little cub he put his index finger to his pursed lips trying to shush the little cub. Being glad now that he had given up his shoes, they would have been nothing but a hindrance on this little adventure. Kneeling down behind a bush he waited hoping Kore would get the idea that it was time to get serious. Looking around through the brush he saw nothing that looked edible just grass. He would have to wait a little longer and hoped he finished before class started.

Kore heard Karite’s warning but was just too happy to be still for now. He was on another hunt so soon. This time though he was hoping for bigger and better prey. Some that didn’t have feathers. Looking around in the trees Kore remembered how fast they were but what annoyed him was when he got close they flew away. He was hoping for something that stuck to the ground and was fast like him. He was in his own little world so deep that concentrating on the hunt right now was beyond his little mind. One day he would learn to concentrate but right now he was just too young for that prolonged moment of sitting still.

Kore had remembered what Shuga had taught him on the two times they had hunted before. He quickly focused his eyes narrowing to slits and his body sinking low to the ground. He made himself small and as discrete as possible. Kore's slender body slinking its way next to Karite waiting in secret for the slightest movement on the forest floor before he would strike. Once it did he would move without hesitation wrapping himself around his prey like the ghastly vision of the reaper itself. Laying down next to Karite’s already dirty feet; slowing his breathing down almost to a dull whisper. He would make sure nothing came between him and his first strike of the crisp day. Little did he know that the beginning of winter would make it harder and harder for him to hunt.

Kore was surprised at how quickly his target had entered his sights. His breathing quickly became a growl spiking for only a second as the two animals in his few were not birds but rabbits. They moved like birds but to him they looked like prey. Kore slowly slinked forward watching the prey while making sure his light feet didn’t catch a single twig or leaf. He would make sure that this would be the first and final time he would have to slink in the shadows today. Getting close enough he could almost smell the blood he could almost taste the meat it would be great indeed. If he was lucky Karite would catch the other one and they would have another rabbit to bring back to his lazy sister. It seemed all she wanted to do was sleep and eat. Not very becoming of a Tategami or at least to what he had seen from the other members. Even Karite showed to be more of a Tategami then Ruha did at times.

Karite was not sure what to expect when he came here with Kore one thing for sure was the playful manner that Kore exhibited the moment he heard the word hunt. It seemed he enjoyed it just like Karite enjoyed the night air and how big the moon looked on the roof top of some random building. Turning his attention to the two rabbits that had seemed to magically appear in front of him he was almost too excited to breathe. Then he realized he had been holding his breath for a good second. Understanding a little why Kore liked this so much he noticed he was already ahead of him. Slipping his finger around his kunai he followed suit moving slowly forward his breathing become spastic and uneven. Karite paid no attention to the ground underneath him, if he had been he would have noticed the uncovered root. Stepping into it he slipped up dropping to the ground and dropping his Kunai. The clatter caused the rabbits to spasm and jump and bound across the forest.

Kore watched as the prey that was so close to being in his mouth had just slipped through his paws once again, but this time it was not his fault. He slowly turned his back to Karite as he was face first in the grass. The boy had a lot to learn about being a Tategami. So do he in some aspects, but he was closer then the boy for sure. Not even wanting to go back again he jumped on the boys back and jumped repeatedly for a few seconds in frustration. For once could he have one hunt that did not go utterly wrong? Jumping down he began to walk deeper into the forest hoping bigger game would show itself to make up for the lost the boy just cost him.

Karite didn’t feel bad until Kore started jumping up and down on his back. If that wasn’t the biggest sign in the world he didn’t know what was. The little cub took this seriously, which meant now Karite had to be more careful. Standing up and rubbing the dirt into his skin he moved forward slightly behind Kore until he found two bamboo stalks close together. Thinking quickly he shimmed up one stalk and wrapped his legs around hanging upside down. Knowing he was nowhere near as fast as Kore or any other of the animals in this forest he would have to have the element of surprise. He just hoped it would be enough to keep Kore happy and food in both their bellies.

Kore walked low through the forest floor stepping over fallen bamboo stalks feeling his shoulder blades extrude from his back like steel blades. Hearing movement coming from in front of him he quickly shifted his weight to the right and slid into a hiding place. In front of him bounded two baby fawns. He had never seen creatures like these but they looked like they would satisfy him for a long time to come. He had found exactly what he wanted. Going into the natural hunter state he had come accustom to so quickly. Slitting his eyes to mask their faint glow and slowing his breathing to nothing but a simple whisper in the wind. This time he hoped that the boy did what he was suppose to and simply wounded the creature like he was suppose to. What Kore didn’t realize that these types of animals much like him, did not stray far from the pack. One slip up and he would be paying for it with a hoof to the face. He would learn that mistakes cost if it came to that.

Kore smiled as best a lion could as the fawns grew bigger and bigger in his golden eyes. Slinking forth his belly rubbing against the grass and his legs curling and uncurling under his body with every step. He could feel his little heart beat faster and faster. It was almost too much to bear. As the rear hide of the small fawn came closer he noticed the fawn was much taller than he was so he would have to jump and latch onto its neck much like he did with Baki in their wrestling match he would have to strangle this catch if he was going to bring it down. It would not be so easy to snap its neck like with the birds before. Kore was in close enough range to bound forth and take down the beast by surprise; it all came down to the right moment.
