"Well I was rather bored too, so that makes us both the wealthier to be acquainted with each other." Ostara was quite pleased with herself now and pleased with the way this day was shaping up to be. Good things did come to those that could wait... or those that stomped flower patches, apparently.
She took a bite of fragrant petals and reflected that it felt like she ought to me making more of an attempt at conversation. She tilted her head to one side while attempting to think of an appropriate topic. "So. Herds. What do you say? Yay, or nay? Personally, I would enjoy being part of a herd if I could be certain I liked everyone else in it. To be stuck with someone you didn't get along with... I don't know if I could stand it."

As he listened to the question he tilted his head to the side, he wasn't really sure since he was under the impression that the others that lived with him was his herd but he could have been wrong.
"Well...do you not live with others?"
King of tilting his head to the direction of where he lived he continued,
"My human has a few other Soquili that I live with...I guess they are considered my herd...they are...not really all that nice to me sometimes they run off and leave me since I'm so much shorter then they are. I guess I'd rather have a heard that was my same size...well..if they were nice like you that is."

"I would rather have a herd of entirely usdia too," continued Ostara. "It is hardly practical for those of us with smaller legs to attempt to keep up with the long legged soquili. We might as well try to chase after the ones with wings." She stretched out a leg before planting her hoof back on the ground. "There isn't anything wrong with us. We're just... built differently."
She smiled at her newly found companion. "And if I found a group of ponies all as nice as you I think I'd stick around too. It's not often I meet such a friendly face... especially not one close enough to the ground for me to see clearly."

Nodding as she shook his mane, it was true what she had to say,
"Of course chasing after those with wings would surely be fun only when we could jump high enough that they would be surprised to see us"
He thought about that for a moment as he leaned down to take some more flowers up. Sneaking a peak at her he was smiling, it wasn't every day that he saw someone his size let alone someone that was willing to talk to him since he was so different.
"Well I'm sure that you will find LOTS of others that are our size and that are nice of course you will."
He said slightly to reassure himself but also to make her sure of that fact.

Ostara nipped up some of her last flowers and stole her own smiling glances over at Leap. "Well, if we wanted to start our own herd we at least have the first two, don't we?" She pulled up a flower by the roots and ate it that way, savoring both the sweetness of it's petals and the bitter crunch of the roots.
"Two tends to be better than one in many things like that... especially with defending ourselves against all the long-legs around here."
Her smile turned a little teasing but was friendly all the same. "But if you have other plans, don't let me keep you!"

Being slightly caught off guard he shook his head,
"No no I have nothing else to do...actually I think you're right we have a find start to a little herd don't we? Such a beautiful Usdia such as yourself and the odd one out such as me"
Nodding as he smiled back. It was a nice day and it was only getting better. He couldn't wait to tell Tanzer that he had met someone his size. It would be a nice night too since they wouldn't be able to make too much fun of him tonight.

"There! It's settled." Ostara smiled brightly, happy with her achievement. A new friend and now a herdmate. This day just kept getting better and better. "In such a small herd, there will be no odd ones out. Everyone's in in a herd of two." She chuckled at her own joke, blue eyes merry.
"Think of it! We could gather more of our kind so that maybe we might actually be taken seriously." Chewing on a strand of mane thoughtfully, Ostara tilted her head. "Mmm... or maybe mocked even more because there would be many of us in one place. You never know, really..." Her head snapped upright again and the cheerfulness was back. "But I can stand being poked fun at, personally. Sticks and stones, you know?"

Laughing slightly he smiled,
"Well even if they were to make fun of us...if there are lots of us then they couldn't make too much fun could they? We could be more of a threat to them."
Walking over to her he nuzzled her slightly,
"It would be a wonderful new addition if we were to find others to join our herd wouldn't it?"
Not thinking anything about his nuzzle except that it was to be taken in a friendly manner.

Ostara knew that Leap wasn't being anything but friendly with his touch but she couldn't help but tease the small green stallion. "You're getting pretty familiar for someone I just met, aren't you? But then again... I suppose I'm the one that got familiar first by starting this whole herd idea." She gave his mane a playful n** back.
"Enough of us could trample the meanest kalona... not that I hope it ever comes to that." She couldn't help but imagine it, though. A small army of small soquili all stampeding at once. There was something to be said about safety in numbers!

Teasing back slightly,
"Well if you are just someone I met recently then I supposed I could just leave you to trample all by yourself."
Thinking about that made him shudder slightly, she was too sweet and actually pretty to be trampled on by some big mean soquili's. He smirked again,
"Then again I might just stick around to watch this army of us go up against these big soquili's."

Ostara laughed a little at that. The mental images were simply too amusing not to. She'd like to see a big horde of small soquili chasing after larger ones. It would be a wonderful change of pace for once.
"The unfortunate thing is that though we're smaller we also seem to be fewer in number than the larger soquili." Ostara sighed and scuffed a hoof through the dirt. "Or maybe it is that we're too scattered to be able to find each other, like was almost the case today."

Thinking he nodded,
"Maybe we're just scattered if I hadn't been coming out this way I would never have met another one like me...let alone you. I don't think I've seen many of us around though."
Thinking about that he wondered if the bigger soquili had chased all the little ones out. Which would be such a horrible thing to have happened.

"No..." Ostara huffed a sigh. "I only can't decide if being scattered is the cause or a symptom of our problems. Logically, if you think that someone bigger than you is going to eat you, it makes sense to try to hide and be inaccessible.... even if it does make it annoying for anyone attempting to find or converse with you."
She held her head up high and proudly. "I, for one, don't plan on hiding away so someone bigger won't step on me. It sounds boring, and..." She favored Leap with another bright smile. "And I'd be missing out on a lot if I did."

Smiling he thought how lovely it was that luck was on his side today. He had met a beautiful young mare like himself and she was so nice, and the conversation was good too. It was all in all a great day he thought as he absentmindly let out a sigh of content,
"I have to admit being afraid and hiding would keep me away from you and you are actually great fun to be around."

"Oh, I try. I try!" An unintentional smile seemed to have taken over her face and Ostara couldn't seem to be rid of it. There was nothing to be done about it, it would seem! Inwardly she was just as happy as the smile would suggest. Somehow this simple meeting had turned out to be more fortuitous than she could have imagined.
Suddenly she fell silent. She felt unexpectedly out of words. That didn't happen often. She scuffed a hoof through the few remaining trampled flowers and snatched another one up while her mind fumbled at words.
