Bleeding Oath Very nice analysis. Although we must also note that Riku and Sora are opposites in the sense of the storyline. The protagonist and the antagonist. Other than that, they do have quite a few similarities.
Kairi being with either one of them wouldn't do very well. Along with the whole concept of her characters being very hollow in the storyline, she seems to not have that much of a personality that is very compatible with the situation of the story. She couldn't serve a signifacant position in the storyline unless she would have had her heart stolen. She wouldn't be able to tag along with Sora. They couldn't let Riku tag along, so why would Kairi be able to? She wouldn't be able to stay with Riku either, because she would try to keep Riku from going all... darkness-controlling-psycho like, and that would interfer with Malificent's plot, therefore causing her inevitable death. 3nodding
In that sense, the only possible combination during the whole...evil plot o' the Disney characters. The only way they could keep her alive would be to get her heart stolen.
(( Wow...that kinda went off topic-ish, but I still established a good point )) Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. ^^ Lol, I've always found it funny that Kairi got her heart stolen, even though she's a Princess of Heart. XD ...Then again, I guess the same thing happened to Riku. He was supposed to be the Keyblade master, but he lost his heart and his body ended up in Kingdom Hearts.

If it would have been me in that situation I would be yelling at him to get his a** out of Kindgom Hearts and to help ********' push.
But then...he got his heart stoleded and ended up there. It's really depressing. D':

Yeah, it is really sad. But what's worse is that he couldn't leave. The door was opened, and BOOM, Sora was right there, but he and Mickey were both stuck there. That breaks my heart pretty much every time I watch the damn scene. D:

I know. It makes my soul hurt.
He's trying to shut the door, and it won't budge, and then, Riku grabs the door and beings to help him. They are about 3 feet apart. So close, yet so far away. **Sigh** So depressing. D':

I know! D:
In fact, I was just over at a friend's house today, and I beat the game so she could see that scene. >< It was horrible. ...And, not to mention, there's the music that plays! I have the soundtrack, and I can't even listen to it when that particular track comes on...It just breaks my heart...><

Although Disney and Square won't let them be open about their feelings for each other, they have no problem making it dramatic and heartbreaking for all of us out here that know.
They are just evil! D':

Lol, to be honest, it's probably more Disney than Square. They had given the Square developers pretty strict guidelines when they were making Kingdom Hearts. But, obviously, some of those restrictions have been lifted with KH2, seeing as the first one was so successful. Think that gives us shounen-ai fans a reason to be hopeful?

Hum... it's possible, but not likely. After all, it would probably have a controversial impact on most people, because they would freak out if there was something along those lines it what is supposedly intended to be a children's game. =/

True, but...what if KH2 gets an E 10+ or T rating? Would that change things at all, you think? [/wishful thinking]

Hmn...It's possible. Maybe after a while Disney would give in? I dunno...
Oh! I found something out today and I have to post it while I'm thinking about it. In Traverse Town, when Maleficent is badgering Riku saying that Sora simply replaced him, she tells him to "Let the boy go."
I think it implys that Riku was obsessing over him, and it was interferring with Maleficent. Another hint at the pairing. =3

I found that most blunt implication of all today.
Inside Monstro, Malificent asks Riku, "Why do you still care about that boy?"
People cannot deny it.
