That snapped him out of it. He sat up straight and looked down at her. No one but his mother had ever nuzzled him. He really had no idea how to respond. After looking around for some help and finding none he drew a wing around her, drawing her close.

"You were beginning to worry me with how tense you had become. I don't my meeting your family to be the cause of it...no, I don't want you to have to bottle up the cause of it. What got you so worked up?" She looked to him with hopeful eyes, praying that he'd open up a bit more with her.

He blinked at the look and sighed, glaring at the water. "My demon father isn't exactly someone you bring females around. The very reason for my sisters' and I's birth was rape. She's not the only one. If you're meeting him I'm not letting him withing five feet of you."

"That I thank you for. Still I wish to meet him. I've heard much of the things he's done and thus I am prepared for what may come. I feel safe and relaxed with you being with me. I know that everything with fine. But enough talk of this for now. I don't want it to rile up your nerves further. What say you to a game?"

He gave her a look and raised an eyebrow. "A game? What sort?" He figured the games he'd played with his sisters as a cub weren't the same other cubs played. After all, one didn't see cubs covered in blood as often as one did between them three.

"How about a game that test just how good of a hunter the two of us are.... but...hmm what can be the pray?" Nevaeh brought her paw up to her chin as she thought.

He thought for a moment, then smirked. "What of a good game of chase? You could be my prey... I'll give you a few moments' head start and then go after you. I won't use my wings, my fire, or my plants. Just a simple game. How about it?"

She took off with light laughter. "Your it!" She called from over her shoulder before turning to watch where she was going. She moved about as swiftly as she could. She weaved between the trees, rubbing against them all and even any bush she came across only to go in an entirely different direction. "That ought to throw him for a bit."

He let her get a good start before he began to follow her scent and the trail of her prints. His pace was swift, his demeanor like that of a hunter, not someone playing a game. He was as silent as a shadow moving amongst the trees. The switchback did fool him, but it only put a slight dent in his chase.

She continued to run, looking to her left and then her right. Had she gone out of his territory? Things seemed so different. No...she count still smell his scent markers, so she had to still be on his land. "How do I find my way out before he finds me?"

He stopped for a moment, sniffing the air for her trail. She was going deeper, to the darker parts. The plants along the edge of his domain were all geared to keeping things out and whatever was in stayed in. He moved on, the scent slowly getting stronger.

"Perhaps I can head back in time and continue to avoid getting caught." With that thought in her mind she made a dash for it. She had to hurry up before she was caught. Then suddenly his scent seemed a bit stronger. Oh no, she was getting close to him. Quickly he made a sharp left and continued her dash, leaping over logs and weaving through the trees.

Her scent hit him a moment later, stronger than where his previous path was taking him. He immediately changed his course, knowing he was close. Of course he was gaining on her, he knew the terrain better than she did. Soon she would be in his sights and all it would take is a quick trip, a stumble, a moment of hesitation and he would take his prey down.

Nevaeh slowed her pace until she came to a stop to look around a bit more. Had she gone the wrong way again? Either way she needed to get a move on. "Which way should I go?"

Too late for an answer. She was in his sights. That moment of pause was all he needed to catch up enough for her to be in range. He lunged with a roar, knowing his greater weight would take her down. Forepaws extended to catch her and hold her down.
