She sighed and inhaled quickly at a sharp pain from a rock jostling her leg that seemed to slither behind her, this pace was reminding her of the days she used to wander aimlessly, sometimes those days seemed to go slowly but they moved like any other day, perhaps the sun sometimes stood still just for her, or for her family. She hoped the world would stand still for her children and grandchild.
"I used to be so upset with your father, but..you are an amazing lion and I would never have wished you different, I am sorry if I well..ever treated you badly. Helping an old lioness like this shows real honor within you, even if I am your grams."
Her blue eyes twinkled as she looked ahead of them, wishing time would speed up and they would reach the familiar copse of trees soon.

Still flinching along with his grandmother, he had to almost tune her out when she started to talk the way she was. It was distressing to hear her saying things like that in the state she was in, though he didn't have a very good feeling about it. The things she said were not helping the matter, and that was that. It would be impossible to be cheerful, though.
"It's ok," he answered, "I wasn't just going to leave you there, that would have been ridiculous."
He glanced sideways at Aadil with a slight smile to try to keep at least his side of the conversation light. When he looked back up, he spotted someone familiar heading their way. Shani had been out for a walk, contemplating going on a small hunt, when she'd spotted her mother and nephew heading her way. She'd been worried about her mother, who'd been gone without much warning for too long (in her opinion). At her first glance, nothing appeared out of place- only Tete and mama were on their way towards home. But in her excited run to greet them, she realized very quickly that something was wrong. They were going slow, her mother seemed to be walking funny and was really close to Tete. It was very worrying.
"Mama!" she cried after a momentary stumble in confusion and started running for them once again.

She hadn't mean to be so down, but she felt it needed to be said, when she opened her mouth to speak and was interrupted almost immediately by her oldest daughter's voice.
"Shani?" Aadil called softly, and turned sharply in the direction of her little clone, regretting it instantly. She wished her daughters would have been together easier to explain twice rather than three times, or four. Her blue eyes switched from Shani to her grandson.
"Tetemeko," she whispered, "I.." her voice fell silent, what would she had told him? She regretted coming home before she healed? Certainly with a lame foot and out alone it would be hard to survive. "Could you stay by me for awhile, so I feel safe? I'll ask your father as well."

Caught off guard by Shani's appearance, Tetemeko could help but come to a stop- especially when he heard his grandmother spoke directly to him. He nodded to her when she fell silent, trying to encourage her to go on- whatever she was going to say, she had to say it now, if she wanted whatever it was to be private.
"Of course I can," he agreed with a careful smile, before turning his attention to Shani just as she caught up- giving her a warning look in hopes to delay any serious reaction.
"Mom," Shani breathed when she heard just the squeak of her mother's voice call back, and she came to a stop not too far from the slow moving pair. Her blue eyes were wide and worried, and she was speechless- especially after the look that Tete gave her. She was almost afraid to speak, she was afraid to find out what was going on, afraid she might upset someone..

She shook her head and looked up to Tete, stopping along side him, "It was nothing, a passing thought." she smiled uneasily at him and turned to Shani. She looked in about as much pain as Aadil felt in as she approached, how she wished she had not done this, had not wandered away from her perfect and happy family, this attack was a punishment that much becoming clear.
"There is my beautiful daughter, we were just looking for you," She glanced at Tete side long and then turned to Shani with a feigned bright smile on her face. "I know my dear you're wondering what happened....I told Tetemeko I do not remember much, I was attacked by a larger male, but look I am here, and fine." she nodded trying to reassure her oldest daughter, she loved her girls so much telling Ghali would be even harder than this, Shani would agree with what she said, but Ghali seemed like she would upset and break more easily.

Tete wasn't about to brush off anything she said so easily, just because she didn't want to say it- but he wasn't about to press matters either. His main goal was to get her home so she could rest and feel perfectly safe once again, and they were so close now- the only thing stopping them now was this brief conversation with Shani. He glanced away as Aadil described what happened to her to Shani, staying silent now and waiting for a sign to keep on moving again.
Shani didn't believe for a second the bright smile on her mother's face, and part of her wondered if they really had been looking for her or not. Her already wide eyes widened more when her mother said she'd been attacked- and immediately the youth looked over her mother's wounds and when she opened her mouth to comment after Aadil claimed to be fine, only a squeak came out and she shut her mouth again. How could something like this happen? Especially to her mother! Why would anyone attack anyone else, it didn't make sense- and her poor mother--

The aging mother brought a smile the best she could muster to her maw and bobbed her head to signify things would be alright. The squeak tugged at her heart and she wanted to coddle her little one, just as she wished she'd coddled Tetemeko, he was given love, but until moments ago her young grandson was not alright in her heart.
"let us head home," she coughed wincing and tried to hide her dispare. She had to be strong for her little ones, and her little one's little ones. She took a step forward, "I want your.." she choked, could she really call out for Mvumo after doing such a thing, "father." she ended looking at Shani.

Tete shifted uncomfortably at the awkward exchange between mother and daughter, wanting to help but not sure what he could do other than stand there at his grandmother's side. He was doing the best he could, and when Aadil suggested they head home, he took another cautious step forward. They would get home and everything would be fine.
"Come on, then," he said, trying to sound optimistic, at the least.
Shani was silent still, staring with wide watery eyes for a moment longer even after Tete tried to get them moving again and Aadil said she wanted to go home. The youth was stunned, the Pridelands were so safe and nothing like this had happened before as far as she knew. It was so impossible.. it just..
Then the youth started and moved to her mother's free side to walk with her.
Fin! ;;
