Well, for the Animal Crossing for Gamecube, I take several month breaks (like, 4 months. XD).
As for DS, its just so much more accessible, so the longest break I've ever taken is about a week. Usually just because I am busy though, not sick of it, which is the case for the Gamecube version.

I stopped playing for a year because I could not work out how to do anything.

I love the game now I know how to do stuff on it mrgreen
