I personally feel hat if she feels happy to gain weight, then she should have the right to pursue that happiness. If she feels that at 300lbs she'd be happy, then congrats. I support her. As for the guy, i think he could have put forth his opinions in a little less agressive way, instead of throwing her down and kicking her.

By all means, if she wants to gain to 300lbs and she's aware of the consequences, which I would imagine she is... go for it.
However, if she wants to gain 300lbs I imagine she doesn't give a s**t what that random guy says... she wants to do it, she thinks it's cool, he isn't going to change her mind... and it's not like it's a secret that it's a crazy thing to do in today's society... so I would imagine she's completely comfortable with announcing it and getting negative comments back. If she wasn't expecting them I'd worry about her choice to do it because I don't think she could be argued living in this reality.
So I fail to see where the problem is.

i also feel that she's trying to be a leader in changing society's perspective on women's beauty. Back in the older days, women with curves and softness were considered beautiful and was the center of society, but in today's society those kind of women are shunned and called down on. Women with curves were thought to be wealthy and healthy, but today are considered slobs and pigs. Naturally women are physiologically supposed to have more fat then men to be able to bear children, yet "thin is in". That's how i feel that she's taking a stand for. Not only for her boyfriend and her own happiness, but a message that being voluptuous (i like that word ^_^) can be beautiful and should be part of society's norm.

In the past curves and extra fat were a sign of wealth, to have extra curves meant you had the means to obtain food and did not go wanting. It's basically the same as today's view on weight.
Tans used to be considered horrible because it meant you were a woman who had to slave away in the hot sun, today seeing a woman with a tan makes people assume it's somebody who has money to spend leisure time at the beach.
An obese woman (arguably, almost any girl sitting at or over 300lbs... with a few exceptions for the extremely tall and muscular) is not healthy, though. Most people in society view one another in terms of reproduction... we want somebody to pass on genes we like, genes that compliment our own, and who will not only be able to give birth healthily (I don't know if it's any harder or easier for an obese woman to give birth, so I can't claim any facts on that), but who will provide us with healthy offspring. Due to modern medicine and the fact that the wealthy can now afford personal trainers, thin is in because the women are considered "healthier" and it is assumed when you see a skinny girl that she works to keep that shape...
In the past, the view on size was hardly any more respectable than it is today, it's really all about money. And there are some people who don't care, who like their own thing... and that's great... because they see something different from how others do... and that's what helps the gene pool to stay varied.
I somehow doubt her wanting to be a leader, maybe she wanted to make a few people think... but it takes more than what she did to be a leader.
Forgive me if I'm overly rude or harsh, I've found myself in a bad mood since getting home from work, and I don't mean to say anything that sounds that way.

I think fat people should have a rally or something, a big fat rally.
It would be amazing.

I think the problem is so many people would be like "I'm so tired, can we stop marching now?"
Maybe we should just switch it to a party.

The Dread Pirate Ghosty I think the problem is so many people would be like "I'm so tired, can we stop marching now?"
Maybe we should just switch it to a party. Have like a huge pot-luck party, and bring some balloons and have a huge water-balloon fight in like a park or something! Or have a big food fight!!!! YEAH!!!

Sometimes, Ghosty, I swear you've been poking around in my brain, because you manage to say exactly what I want to say (and word it better).
Anywho, I'm just worried that she doesn't know what she's really getting into. It's one thing to be 200 lbs. It's another thing to be 250, and a whole completely different thing to be 300. I used to weigh that much, and I was miserable. Yeah, I could eat whatever I wanted and not really gain weight, but that was horribly outweighed by the health problems and self esteem problems that came along with it. I mean, I'm not a small girl, naturally, and never will be, but I couldn't handle all the extra weight-I was tired, grumpy, and basically downright miserable most of the time.
I hope for her sake that this girl has a very thick skin, because she'll begin to notice that how people treat her will change as she gains weight, and sometimes I think the mental part of being fat is worse than the physical (because really, everyone care about what other people think about them to some extent).

I imagine when the girl starts to feel sick by her extra weight she might opt to stop gaining and just be happy at wherever she ends.

sail away with me, honey... I think if I ever planned on actually trying to gain (which I am!), I would try to go gradually....stop every time there's a significant change and wait a while to see if you want to stop there or if more sounds good.
I see a lot of gainers just point and shoot, and when you're doing something that could end up unsatisfactorily in so many different ways, I'd want to be careful.
And then there's the issue of whether the food itself is healthy or not, which we touched down on. I think one of the best parts of gaining on purpose is the feeling that you can eat whatever you want to and if it's usually considered unhealthy, that makes it better, but most people don't factor in that you have to still keep it in moderation even if the reigns are a bit looser......I don't think I would want to gain on only bad food anyways, it would make me feel grossie after a bit. gonk
i put my heart in your hands.

Olive oil is vereh heart healthy, and is fattening. Most dishes can benefit from a little olive oil, and some can benefit from a lot of olive oil. ^_^
Olive Oil: FTW. Especially Palestinian Olive Oil. But that's like, only available in the UK. Go figure.
