"A pleasure, it would be." Odd called out in reply, though he found himself wanting to continue onwards and avoid the situation all together. He could make out the shapes of the two sentinels and the mus companion, but their details were hazy to him. He could make out the startling bright patterns on Cloverfield, but other than that, he was at a loss.

He settled down carefully, as did the chirop beside him. The creeping sensation filled him from his talons to his eartufts. He was selfconciou sof his solid white color, but was even moreso of his eyes. Unlike any other sentinel, they were a very pale and pinkish hue. He refused to lock eyes with either of the two sentinels.

"A pleasure, indeed... My name is Odd... Odd Winter, how do you do?"

Clover had to laugh at the turn of events. It looked like Olohan had named the new Sentinel correctly after all! And it certainly was a fitting name, she decided as she hopped closer, quite interested in the new male. After all, deep down under her dye she was a mist. What at first seemed another of her ilk was shortly revealed instead to be...well...a not-mist. He wasn't like any she'd seen before, no markings at all...and those odd (and she had herself another laugh here) eyes. Even if he wouldn't look at them that wasn't going to stop Clover.

Feeling a little more...excitable? Something...more something than usual, she shuffled right up to the new male, seeming to lose all interest in poor Olo, and bent down. Twisting her head around she managed to make eye contact with Odd. "There we go! Ahh, we're handsome when we show our face now, aren't we?" She fluffed happily and stepped back, satisfied now that she'd seen what Odd looked like.

"Come on over Olo, say hello!" She called back to the other male, her eartufts flicking happily.

"Ahnn. That's just rude sunshine, lookin' in people's faces like that," Olohan shook his head, and eased his way over. Yes he was curious, but no - courtesy demand that he abstain from doing what Clover did so boldly. Perhaps all the chicks get to bend the rules now and then. Or all the time in his point of view.

"Odd-ily, has pretty eyes," Egratz said in wonderment, and much to his companion's discomfort.

"Not you too," He muttered.

Odd shuffled back further on the branch and lifted his head. It was clear from his puffed feathers and hunched position that he was taken aback and somewhat frightened by Clover's sudden intrusion into his space.

She had laughed earlier, but she wasn't, now. That in and of itself confused him.

Pretty?

His unnatural eyes had given him so much trouble as a hatchling and fledgling.

His eartufts flattened and he looked earnestly towards both Clover and Olohan. Such things were unavoidable, he supposed, if he was to be social with other sentinels.

"Terribly sorry..."

OOC: That's alright!

Clover frowned at Olohan. She wasn't being rude, just friendly! Besides, it wasn't like she was being mean, she was just curious. Humph. Well Odd didn't seem put off, in fact now he seemed quite open to talking--and looking--at them. "What's to be sorry for?" She asked Odd, smiling back at him. Yes, his eyes were different, they were like nothing she'd ever seen! But they weren't ugly. No, there was something about them being different that interested Clover to start with. And they didn't seem to be causing Odd any trouble that she'd noticed, so no big deal.

"I'm Clover by the way, Cloverfield. It's nice to meet you Odd." She twittered, remembering that she hadn't introduced herself yet. It seemed a day for introductions, first she'd met Olohan and Egratz, and now Odd and...wait. He had a companion, right? "Who's your friend?" She asked, peeping around Odd at the chirop.

Olohan settled back a bit to observe. This Odd guy was rather... Odd! He was so shy, that it reminded Olohan of himself when he was just a fledgling. Naturally he quickly grew out of it to be the strapping young male that he is! Perhaps this Odd Winter, would like some help. He seemed like he needed a beak up or so.

"I'm Olohan and the mus is Egratz," the Sentinel stated as a matter of factly, "Its nice to meet you. Lets play a bit of round robbin, in telling each other what we do and... Or some other tidbit. I'm sure you can see Sunshine dying to get you out of your shell." Olohan's eyes twinkled within a smirk. His look was a bit daring, almost a challenge for the new Sentinel, however, it was not beligerent in any way.

Odd's thoughtful gaze was on Olohan, now. He wanted to curl up into himself and vanish, but would take the challenge that was spread out before himself.

"A game does sound lovely, I must say." He replied. He tried to force a more confident tone into his hushed voice and gave the other male a nod. He then glanced back towards the brighter sentinel, who was easier for him to make out.

"This little one is named Moth. She is my dearest and most useful companion..."

"'Ello." Moth inched nearer to Clover, as she did not sense any danger coming from the female. "Moth, 'ow d'y'do?"

Clover puffed brightly when Odd agreed to play Olo's game. This could be quite fun...distantly she remembered she needed to get back home to finish her transaction with some Sentinel, but it could wait. Not like any one really was in a hurry these days.

Deciding she'd accept Olo's dubbing of 'Sunshine' without comment this time, she looked down at the Chirop. "Hello there Moth! I'm Cloverfield, or Clover. I'm a keeper!" She piped, quite cheerfully. "I keep parus, painted like me." She flared a wing, flashing the brilliant swirls of white, black, and orange. Hmm. Maybe 'Sunshine' wasn't a bad nickname.

"T'woo!" Olohan exclaimed in mock surprise as he ducked his head, "Sunshiiine so bright I need to get under some shade." He chuckled and clacked his beak together.

Egratz, the mus, took to laying across Olohan's talons. He pipped up from underneath, "Olo-olo be look at s-eggs. No come yet. His happy so-so far."

Said sentinel ruffled his feathers at the comments that the little mus made. It wasn't true - well was but it wasn't like he wanted that to be known. Olohan bent down and tucked the little mus underneath him.

"I'll mind you in a second, egghead," He said in a fake cheerfulness, "None have been found but I'm sure someone will drop one off with this boom. And then I'll be in a right state to find a lot of food. I perhaps might like a Parus from you Clover. Any good at gathering are they?"

"I am a keeper, too..." Odd piped up quietly. "Well, I am, now... A used to be a medic, but I changed professions a few seasons back..." His eartufts flattened and he noticed the comments of the mus had an interesting effect on Olohan.

"I keep chirops... Moth, here, is my pride and joy. And most helpful."

Clover eyes the chattering Mus curiously. "Ssseggs?" Strange little thing. Ah well, it was probably just something from being hassled by the hatchlings so often. Poor thing, it'd probably been almost eatn a half dozen times. More distracting though was Olo's continued antics and comments about her feathers. "What, too illuminating for you?" She piped, her voice half-joking as she hopped over and nipped one of his eartufts with a bit more force than would be considered friendly. "Olohan, one of these days your beak is going to get you in more trouble than you'll know what to do with." She laughed, giving him a little shove with her wing, and flapped back to her own branch. "And I might. The D-notes have always been fond of gathering. Maybe a nice D-sharp. I'll look into it."

"What was that?" She leaned closer to Odd, trying to hear him over the assorted other babble. "Ah, I can understand that. Not many find need of a medic these days. You must be good at keeping your charges fit though!" She inspected Moth again. Yes, she did seem to be in perfect physical condition. "My Sharp is much the same. He's older now, and he doesn't talk much, but without him I'd be veritably lost."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 22, 2008 6:36 am

Brought down off his perch as it were, Olohan pipped down with the comments. Perhaps he would get into trouble.

"S-eggs? Oh yes, Sentinel eggs. Those abandoned or left with me to graciously tend while the parents are off being medics or hunters, gatherers..." Olohan shuddered a little, in not so distant rememberance. "Its the least I can do..."

"Not much better at anything else..." Olohan looked around, thinking for a moment for someone else to open up the conversation a little more. Egratz settled in deeper upon the Sentinel's talons and underneath the feathers, comfortably all set to sleep.

"A minder is actually a very noble profession, if one thinks about it." Odd piped up and preened a feather before speaking again.

"There is a great responsibility in the talons of a minder. They care for the young and mold their little minds. They help to raise the future of the clan. One who is a minder should be proud of this fact."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:06 pm

Clover nodded assent at Olohan. "One of my good friends just mated a minder. They're quite the pair, so kind to everyone..." She paused, trying to think of what else might be of interest. "Hmm...oh, I know. Where do you both live? Did you get any new apprentices with the recent graduations? I know I didn't..." She frowned a little, thinking on how with no apprentices she was left to try to hem in all her birds on her own. Such a trying thing to do when all they wanted to do was fly all over the place.

"Lucky lucky nobody," Egratz said tiredly between talons.
"I'm rather new at Minding, I used to just watch for things... You know," Olohan assented ambiguoisly. The muz finally went to sleep however, not before mumbling about something close by. The sentinel bobbed his head.

"I think he means that we live close by. True. I have a small territory. It houses well just for the two of us. Though, it is a bit murky there. At least Egghead can attest to that. I don't go down there unless I'm hunting mice. Down and up again. You know the routine." Olohan tucked his suddenly sleepy companion safely under him as he resettled on the branch, it was quite penguin-esqe.
