In his arms she started to stir, looking up at him with unseeing eyes "she's dead, she's dead, she's dead..." she seemed incapable of saying anything else. in her minds eye however she kept seeing the burn mark on the carpet. The ashes. The twisted crown. She had failed, failed the Queen, the kingdom. No royal would ever let her near. "she's dead, dead, ashes, she's dead."

Luke eyed her questioningly, wondering what she meant, but not wanting to bring it up at the moment. "Don't worry, Lus," he murmured. "We'll get you to rest soon enough."

He crouched, then leapt through the window, sending them both into free fall. He clutched her to himself, then sent another bit of power to his boots to slow himself to a standing position. Once he was comfortable in the air, he turned back to the castle and started to walk along an invisible path to the sick bay window, smiling a little smile to himself as he went.

Illusion blinked, trying to clear her head and her eyesight when she saw Luke. "Luke!" she cried as she threw her arms around his neck, throwing off their balance and threatening to topple them over. "It was awful..." she hid her face in his shirt to hide her growing sobs. "She's dead. The Queen is dead."

Luke's smile faltered and faded, and they dropped a few dozen feet as his concentration slipped. "What? Are you sure?"

He blinked disbelievingly, though all the connections made sense. Except the vase... his mind reminded him, and he nodded slightly. There was that.

He stepped toward the window again, climbing steeply to make up lost space. Within a few seconds, they were on the ledge, and then through. A few more steps and she was deposited onto a bed, then looked over once more. "What happened?" he asked, softly.

There were ashes on her floor... she shuddered "A pile of burnt ashes, her crown was melted into a horrid tangle of metal. So I-I-I scooped up the ashes and put them in the vase..." her voice started to tremble as she started to shake. She pulled at the blanket on the bed towards her, almost like it would push back the memory. "Then I went to look for someone to tell...and the vase slipped and the ashes were gone!" Illusion's eyes grew wide with the renewed alarm. "I let her die Luke! I couldn't stop her!!!"

Tassen looked in through a window, and saw a young man jump out of it, almost suicidally. At first, Tassen started to dart to catch the fool youth, only to find the man come to a slow stop, standing on the air. He must have created a disk of air to hold himself, and a young girl with wings, in the air. It wasn't long before the two entered into a different window, a lower one. Tassen decided to follow them. Apparently the elemental powers of old were not lost to these people.

He dropped down to the window, and spoke to the two with his mind. "Hello. I am Tassen. Is everything alright?" Concern filled his mental voice, not heard by their ears, but in their minds. His long neck, and angled face, entered in through the still open window, as he peered into the room. His dragon senses told him most of what he wanted to know, but his eyes still served him better at discerning the details.

Luke rolled an eye over Tessen uninterestedly, then turned back to Illusion. "I don't think you could have stopped her anyhow. From what you said, it seems like this was her choice, not a murder. Something happened, but it wasn't your fault."

His eyes wandered for a moment, distractedly, as he thought, and then focused on her again. "Just get some rest. Try not to think about it too much. I'll relay this information on to the other kingdoms... this will create quite a stir."

He paused again as more thoughts whirred through his mind, then stroked the back of her hand absently, not really noticing his action. A screech from the window made him come back to life, as he automatically extended his hand toward the ceiling, which the little merlin landed on.

"H'llo, Russ," Luke murmured. "We've got some work to do. Shall we?"

He turned abruptly and left the room, heading off toward the message towers, to send out birds to all the heads of the countries.

Illusion was silent until Luke left. "The Queen is dead Tassen. It's my fault." she whispered, trying to keep herself from another outburst of emotion that would be most unbefitting for a knight, least of all one of the heirs. Now that the Queen was gone another must be found. She had no wish to take the crown.

Tassen worked the rest of his body into the room, which fit through the window with a little difficulty. He as after all about the size of a horse, wing arms folding in.
"I seem to have been away for a long time. What has happened? Who is this queen? Of what blood line was she from?" So many questions, so little time. "Any history from the past thousand years or so would be helpful."
He was tempted to ask where the libraries would be, where he could read this history himself, but it might be far faster to be told the high lights by this lady. Maybe it would distract her from her apparent grief for a little bit.

Kiro turned to corner to see a young guy run away, and a girl and someone else. He stood there. After a couple of seconds went by, he started to walk up to them, his shoes clicking on the stone. They would have to notice me sooner or later... Kiro didn't like not being noticed. "Hello." He said, as he got closer... "I heard a scream... would that be you madam?"

"She was the last light elementalist from what I know. All the others have turned to magic, like the dark elementals. They're everywhere now pretending to be mages in every kingdom. But she was the last known royal." She looked at the new comer and felt her face flush. "Some knight I am. Yes, it was me. Disapearing ashes tend to do that when they're supossed to be a body."

"There there. Anyone would have been upset from seeing a dead body, no less the ashes of one. Maybe she is still alive out there? She might have wanted to rejoin her own people." He thought about his own long separation from the world. It really was time he started taking action in the world once more.
"Were you close to this queen? You must have been to have felt such pain on her lose. You said the ashes disappeared? I think you should not worry. She is likely still around, just in a different form." Tassen didn't know if what he said was true, but it sounded about right, either that or something was effecting her mentally. Either way, he had not seen any queen walking around. He had to presume she was sane and creditable.

His attention then turned to the new person as he approached. "Hello. My name is Tassen. It is a pleasure to greet you." His head did as much of a bow as could be managed, while still in his dragon from.

Kiro bowed, "I'm Kiro, from the Water Nation." He stood up once more, "Nice to meet you Tassen, and who are you mam?" He smiled, he then spied the vase. When did dragons appear again... Was his next thought.

"Water Nation? What ever happened to the Twilight Sactuary? Or the Chaos Rift? What about the Lair of Souls?" Tassen sounded curious as he asked. He did not know that these people had seperated into clans and nations based upon their elemental alignment.

Tassen had peaked her interest. How long has he been missing? Dragons have been missing since the first wars... Illusion stood up, holding her bed post to keep herself from falling over. "The Elemental realms lost the war, the Twilight Sanctuary was allied. Both were basically wiped off the face of the planet. Then the chaos rift and lair of souls battled it out. Eventually everything just stopped." she paused, trying to rememeber the ancient history lesson. "Needless to say... people started being born with the power of the elements again, from all the old lands. So the elementals sorta control everything again."
