Vailea calmed herself enough to sit beside Salcia and watch intently. Salcia's moves seemed like a well-learned dance of her hands, weaving the seaweed strands deftly. Vailea smiled and tried to mimic the motions with her own empty hands.
"We should. I know I wouldn't mind a second chance at it!" She smiled brightly then took 3 of the shorter pieces of seaweed from the pile to practice on.

Salcia smiled and nodded. "Well, the day is plently long enough to both go looking for sea shells and to swim through the seaweed beds, I'm sure."
Looking over to see how Vailea was fairing with weaving, she leaned over. "Here, try it like this instead...." She smiled, showing her friend another way to weave. "It's simpler, and just as strong as the way I'm doing it."

Vailea smiled brightly at the thought of having a whole day of treasure hunting. "Sounds like fun to me!" She giggled softly.
Her eyes widened with wonder as she watched Salcia show her a different way of weaving. "Ooo, very nice! Now why do you weave in the other way for the baskets?" She practiced with her pieces of seaweed, then lifted on under her chin in a classic pose of contemplation. "What else are baskets good for?" she pondered aloud.

Salcia shrugged. "I prefer the pattern that this type of weaving gives, that's all." She then laughed lightly. "Baskets can be very useful. They can hold all sorts of things for you and if you don't have enough room in your arms, they can carry what ever is left. They can also be put all around where ever you live to keep things tidy."

Vailea nodded at Salcia's simple explanation to her weaving question and looked from the handful of seaweed in her hands to the basket's pattern and smiled brightly. "I can see why you like that better." She nodded sagely as if she knew the answer all along, giggling as she did so.
"Oooohh... that is very useful! You must be ever so clever!" She said with a bright admiring smile. She blushed and giggled thinking of her own home cave further in the ocean where she kept her treasures strewn about in many piles of color and sparkle.

Slacia blushed a brilliant shade of scarlet as Vailea complimented her and called her clever. "I... er.. I suppose.." She studdered, her modesty getting the best of her. Her hands moved swiftly and expertly as she continued to weave. "I guess you could just call me resourceful, that's all....." She could feel her cheeks getting redder and redder by the second.
