moosiklady Yes - I do know there are more dimensions - but when I referred to our "3 dimensional understanding" I was speaking of what we know and experience. We move through and sense time, but have no control of our movement through it - unlike the other 3 dimensions; we don't really "understand" time the way we understand up/down, to/fro, sideways. The other dimensions believed to exist we can't even verify or sense at all. Since science itself is now pointing towards multiple dimensions beyond our own awareness - science now supports the idea of an unknown reality! Isn't that part of what religions have been about for a long time - believing in the unseen? And it's not blind faith! I've witnessed and experienced miracles - big and small. I know what I believe and WHY. what about the 4th physical dimension I described above? we have control over that understanding what color your lenses are is key to understanding the world around you

I double checked and in most physics TIME is the 4th dimension - another spatial dimension would be the 5th - unless you renumber the dimensions and put time as zero (since nothing can exist without time - at least as our understanding allows).
Yes I can "wrap my mind" around another spatial dimension - but many average people can't. In this discussion we're losing sight that God loves us as a parent loves us - not because we're smart, but because we're His!
As a parent myself, I DON'T CARE if my children understand me - I don't expect them to! I hope they grow to love me (and others), I hope they obey me - not because I'm a tyrant, but because I know and want what's in their best interests. I believe that's how God feels about us.

I think you and I have very different ideas about parenting and our personalities may very well differ greatly keep in mind I am not yet a parent, however, I do want what is best for my students.

Has anyone given thought to how God "stretched the heavens"? Since we're talking about the space/time continuum, it came to mind.
Centuries before any scientists contemplated a "big bang" and realized the universe is expanding, the writer of the Bible talked about "stretched" heavens!
I was using the New International version - and easily found several references including these:
Isaiah 42:5, 44:24, 45:12, 51:13 Jeremiah 10:12, 51:15
I'm not a greek scholar, so I couldn't look up what word was used in the greek, and I'm DEFINITELY not a scholar of ancient hebrew!

The first three dimensions are definite: an object has either one, two, or three dimensions. They can never be confused, but others may think so. I'll get to that.
The fourth dimension is time. Time is an illusion. Look at the second. Seconds did not exist before someone decided to have a way to measure time. Time flies when you're having fun, and it slows down when it's boring. Therefore, illusion.
The fifth dimension is perspective. Perspective is an illusion. Look at the sleight-of-hand magicians use. Most of it appears to change depth, but in reality it has stayed the same shape throughout the whole trick. Therefore, illusion.

Time is independent of units of measurement You could pick any measurement or none at all and still there would be an order to events. Time is not an illusion; it is very real and very tangible. Perhaps not totally explained but still very real. Perspective is the relationship between foci and has nothing to do with any illusions.

You don't need to be a greek scholar to read in greek the same with hebrew. That's why there are internet translators...though those hardly work...>_>. They're far more unreliable than wiki. All this physics talk is giving me a headache. I mean I can understand what's being said but I can never explain it in my own words. Maybe a little but I definitly understand what's going on. Anyways time is a very tangible factor in a sense that once time goes by you age in other words your body grows over. But mentally time feels as if it were an illusion. You mentally or psychologically don't know how long it has been because it has gone by so fast. Now as far as parenting styles go, every parent is different. Just like everyone's mind is different. One parenting style may be good for one kid but its not good for another.

Time is definitely not an illusion - seconds are a measurement just as inches are a measurement. They have a scientific definition.
Yes, all parenting styles are different - as are all parents and all children. I have 4 and NONE of them are anything like each other! I have to do my best to be fair - which means I have to adjust my "style" to that particular kids' needs.
Also - I'm not authoritative, but my kids do know there are "boundaries".
