"Trista Finsteti. Fifth year. And of course, if it wouldn't be too distracting of course."

Payton grinned as Trista introduced herself to him, and accepting her firm handshake. When she sat down, he quickly shook his hand from the grip she had on him. 'She shakes like a guy,' he thought before taking a seat again-Trista pulling a chair next to him.

"This is Roxy, she's an arctic fox." "I've always found them to be lovely creatures,"

Payton nodded his head, he mistaken her animal as a cat. Well, sort of, since it had whiskers. He liked the way she treated her pet, seeing how it was quite odd to keep a pet like hers in Hogwarts. But he didn't mind, it suited her.

"As for your Animagus topic, I think it's a very neat thing to write about. I've been practicing for awhile to master the transformation, myself. I found books on the subject, and even some mentors who were willing to help. I'm not sure I'm perfect at it yet though, but I can transform."

"That's good, that you can transform," Payton complimented and then scratched the back of his head. "I've tried a few times with my Uncles during Christmas breaks. Though I can never decide between land or air animagus. And when I usually pick air, I tend to get lost faster than land," he said, admitting one of his flaws. Not wanting to continue on himself, he posed a question to her, "what type of animal would you transform inot, Trista?" The question could open the conversation to numerous responses, and that's what he was shooting for. Better communication skills.

"Oh, very interesting. It was awefully difficult to start learning, being muggle-born and all. I have noone to really help me, so i had to actually go out and look. If I were you, I still think I'd choose air. You'd be there more than you would be in water, really." She smiled at him and glanced down at his paper for a second to see how he had started his report. "I've been trying to transform into a wolf. I'm not sure really why, I've just always fancied them."

Emylee sat listening to Trista and the boy named Payton talk about animagus. She started to draw again, zoning out of their conversation.

Payton couldn't help but wonder as he turned his attention towards her, how her ideas and insight about Animagus made him have more ideas for his essay. There was another way where he could stretch his paper to fit the required length.

"Oh, very interesting. It was awfully difficult to start learning, being muggle-born and all. I have no one to really help me, so i had to actually go out and look. If I were you, I still think I'd choose air. You'd be there more than you would be in water, really."

Payton listened as she spoke of teaching herself how to transform and saying that she was muggle-born. He only knew a few students who are muggle-born, but this was a first for a girl in Ravenclaw. He thought most muggle-borns are placed in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. "Right, water would make things difficult and you couldn't get around much,"he added to her explanation and then gave her a half grin.

"I've been trying to transform into a wolf. I'm not sure really why, I've just always fancied them."

"I guess, I'll have to look out for you one day if I'm ever in the woods by myself," he remarked with a light laugh and then coughed, thinking that the joke might have been bad. He placed his hand in a fist to cover his fake cough as he turned back to his essay. He wrote down a few things with his blue ink about advantages of flying animagus than water. As he continued to write he asked, "so...um, what are your plans for the weekend?" changing the subject a little from the norm. His head moved off his essay to check if anyone else is in the common room- only a girl drawing by the fireplace.

Trista laughed at his comment about looking out for her in the woods. "Yes, you'll have to do that." She grinned at him and looked down and just continued to pet Roxy. She then looked up to watch him write his essay and noticed the part about flying over water animagus, and she smiled to herself a little.
"I don't really have plans that I know of. Just sitting around basically, what about you?" She asked.

Payton felt a comfortable around Trista. Something he wasn't used to, seeing as she gave him the light of day for even wanting to sit and talk to him about his essay- at that. She was a first for him and maybe he could talk to her even more if she didn't have any plans for the weekend. That's when most students take breaks and hang out. Unlike him, he just stayed in his room or in the library. Occasionally, he would walk around and practice his orbing when no one was looking. But even those times he was hard, not wanting people to know about him that way.

"I don't really have plans that I know of. Just sitting around basically, what about you?"

Payton felt happy that she didn't have anything, but sad at the same time. He placed his quill down and lifted that hand to rub the back of his neck, just as Trista petted Roxy. How to put it in words. "Well...Hogsmeade is this weekend. Maybe you'd like to go with me and we can talk about something else other than...homework, he suggested and then dropped his hand down to rest on his lap. He shifted his body a little to look at Trista, "would you be interested in going with me?" he asked slowly, not wanting to mumble or stutter his words. It would be a first for him, going to Hogsmeade with someone other than the wind.

"Oh, of course." Trista said with a little smile on her face. She'd only really gone to Hogsmeade by herself other times; people hadn't asked her to join them.
Trista leaned back in her chair and just kept petting Roxy softly and started to glance around the room and noticed that Emylee was still the only other student around.
"So what classes are you taking, Payton? I haven't seen you around in any of mine." Trista pointed out to him.

"Oh, of course."

'What a relief,' Payton thought as he released his breath from holding it in until she replied. Now the highlight of his weekend would be spending time with Trista and not his books. 'Maybe she can help me open up more to be people. Become more social. Instead of the bookworm that I am.'

"So what classes are you taking, Payton? I haven't seen you around in any of mine."

"Yeah. Well." Payton thought for a moment as to how to explain why they didn't have classes together. "You're a fifth year. I'm sixth. Most of my classes are advanced like Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, and Arithmancy, he explained and felt sort of sad now they never met each other in classes. "But...it would have been good to know someone in my classes. I usually get paired up with someone from another house.

Payton looked down at his essay and felt he could finish it up later as he rolled his parchment and then tied it with a loose string. "Trista...is there anything you'd like to do at Hogsmeade? he asked and then turned his attention towards her as he watched her pet Roxy. He found her pet interesting as he slowly reached a hand to try and touch her fur. "May I?" he asked to make sure that Roxy would attack him if he tried to touch her without her consent.

"I see. I take Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, and Herbology. I'd really like to see Potions get going though, it is a favorite of mine." Trista stated as she continued to pet Roxy.
"I don't have anything in mind really. I do like to go to Honeydukes from time to time to buy sweets to send home, though. So I may want to stop there for a bit, if you didn't mind." Trista watched as he tried to pet Roxy and giggled a little at his hesitancy. "You may. What about you then, do you have anything you'd like to do in particular?" She looked up at him and gave a shy smile.

Payton listened while Trista explained about her classes. He felt the the same way about Potions, he enjoyed the class because it seemed to take the most out of anyone. A student in that class needed to be focused and attentive to even consider making acceptable. As he listened, he also watched to Roxy's actions if she'll let him touch her. He didn't need to lose a finger or hand anytime soon, even if it is going to be a short pat. Trista continued on in explaining that she likes to go to Honeydukes and get sweets, also for her family. That was a normal hangout for most students, as he nodded in approval of spending some time there. Of course, he would gather some sweets for the week.

"You may. What about you then, do you have anything you'd like to do in particular?"

"Well," Payton started to say before he bravely reached out a bit more to touch the soft fur against his fingertips. Seeing that Roxy began to like the extra attention, he eased up his tension and answered her question, "I like Zonko's Joke Shop, I guess I go by to check out the third years, since its their first time there. Just watching them get sprayed or goo shooting out on them lightens my day. I also enjoy their comics and crazed candies."

Payton grinned as his petting seemed to calm him down, 'no wonder my mother likes petting her cat.' "Maybe after we check out those stores, we could swing by Madam Puddifoot's and have a few butterbeers," he suggested since they were on the topic of Hogsmeade. "Have you ever walked around the woods in Hogsmeade?" he asked, wondering if she knew much of the small town.

Trista smiled when Payton started to pet Roxy, and she saw his tension fade. She laughed at his statement about watching the third years at Zonko's. "That does sound amusing. We could stop there as well. No, I haven't really been through the woods there; I haven't really gone to Hogsmeade very many times. But I would love to stop to have some drinks." She looked up and smiled at him, then glanced back down at Roxy and watched as she seemed to really enjoy being pet.

Emylee put her drawing pad into her bag and decided to go to the girls dormitory.

"Great," Payton said feeling good about this weekend and the small plans that they made. "That sounds great," he added feeling good that he made a new friend. It had been a few years since he had someone to talk to, especially a girl. He looked down at his watch as he stopped petting Roxy and then began to put his things away as he asked, "what are your plans for the rest of the day? Seeing as how we have a few hours before lights out?" wanting to know if she would like to go with him up to the Astronomy Tower to check out the stars and maybe a few comets. But he didn't want to get his hopes up too soon. He finished putting his writing kit away and then turned to look at Trista for her reply, due to making his leave.

"Honestly, I had nothing else to really do besides sit up in the common room here for awhile with Roxy. Did you have anything in mind to do, or are you busy yourself?" She asked him sweetly, wondering whether he had any plans to attend to.
