I do not wish to cause an issue, however, please do me a favour and look up "toeyvah hee" in regards to Leviticus 18:22, and tell me in what context it is actually used in, and how we get "abomination" from toeyvah, you may be surprised. I am deeply sorry that you do not believe Hashem approves with the way I was born, and the way that I feel, no matter how observant I am, or religious, or accepting of mitzvot.

Leviticus 11 : 9-12
Read that and you'll see that HASHEM hates shrimp as much as gay people.
Yet... I see lots of Christians munching on them.
I don't see Jews going into the waters to find shrimp to tell them that they shouldn't be shrimp.
If anything it's "Ok... you're a shrimp, granted I'm not into shrimps, but I'm sure you'll make another shrimp very happy."
if you change shrimp to homosexual...
well you see where I'm going with this right?

This is one instance where I like one of Jesus' things, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." None of us are perfect. None of us keep the laws perfectly. Where, then, comes our authority to tell someone that "G-d does not approve of you" simply because they may or may not be violating a rather vague rule? Does G-d not approve of my love of clam chowder? How about the wide use of electronics during shabbat? If G-d condemns us for breaking one law or rule (and a vague one at that), are we then all condemned for our trespasses against the Commandments at one point or another in our lives?
I prefer not to think that G-d would condemn the entire world because we're not perfect. We're flawed beings, working to better ourselves. That's what makes use human, and not G-d, or even Angels. So, I say, let anyone who has broken even a single rule still their tongue on the disapproval and condemnation. Until we're perfect, we have no right to tell other people that G-d approves less of them than of us. Of course, if we were perfect, we'd feel no need to tell them that anyway. wink

I feel insulted by the way you cast down hate towards the Law of HaShem. Remember in book of Matthew he speaks about how he who teaches not to uphold the Law of Moses will be held lowest in the kingdom. Lol you learn something about your former faith from Jews for Judaism. Oh and dont' forget that G-d did cast down plagues to those who opposed him. Cannan and Sodom and Gomorah they were to have believed in committing homosexual acts. I agree with that one guy who respects people but can not lie and say it is alright in G-d's eyes. For even if you have inclination to do something wrong you are to fight that urge.

For even if you have inclination to do something wrong you are to fight that urge. Sodom and Gomorrah were not to believed to have committed homosexual acts. Please provide proof of this, furthermore, please provide me with absolute proof of homosexuality being a sin using the Hebrew for the word "abomination" in Leviticus 18:22. You will find also that this passage has absolutely nothing to do with homosexuality. If you wish to state that homosexuality is against Hashem, then by all means, you better not receive or give oral sex, ever, for that is also sodomy. Nor shall you ever have sex for any, ANY other reason aside from the intent of knocking the girl up. Now I know you're a human, so I highly doubt that you don't become lustful from time to time. I just can't tolerate the twisting of Biblical passages with the result of creating homophobia. Take it from a Classicist, dude. Even if the Genesis passage of Sodom and Gomorrah was about homosexuality, the differences between a homosexual in antiquity is FAR different than a loving, committing homosexual in the modern world. I get too much homophobia from day to day, and I live in fear every single day for living righteously and yet having a partner. I won't tolerate it anymore. I am no less, nor more religious than you.

This whole idea of seeing humans as sexual objects were only made okay by the pagan theologies. Oh and okay then I guess I shouldn't expect those acts which you state. I believe in a society more like the Chassidics. What I get from Genisis 18 they the cities of Sodom and Gomorroh were destroyed for their sinful nature. Lev. 18:22 Do not lie with a male as one lies with a woman; it is an abhorrence.
Lev. 20:13 If a man lies with a male as one lies with a woman, the two of them have done an abhorrent thing; they shall be put to death — their bloodguilt is upon them.
Lev. 18:26 But you must keep My laws and My rules, and you must not do any of those abhorrent things, neither the citizen nor the stranger who resides among you; 18:27 for all those abhorrent things were done by the people who were in the land before you, and the land became defiled.
Lev. 20:22 You shall faithfully observe all My laws and all My regulations, lest the land to which I bring you to settle in spew you out. 20:23 You shall not follow the practices of the nation that I am driving out before you. For it is because they did all these things that I abhorred them.
Don't forget that same-sex intercourse, incest, and beastality is said to be a failure of the Non-Jewish people. Those different sexual tendencies are products of the Pagans and following their practices are contrary to HaShem.

HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A SIN. Furthermore, I didn't realise that homosexuality is the same as bestiality and incest! In fact, I am appalled by that statement. Proof that this was 'created' by pagans? Please, humour me. So are you insinuating that I am any less Jewish than you are because I happen to have a beautiful and loving partner?

First I never claimed I was more Jewish than you. When did I claim this? I just can't agree that homosexuality is okay. Its against the teachings of the Rabbis especially those that keep Torah. I don't think you could ever find any pro-homosexuality qoutes among the commentators of the Torah. Nor the Talmud nor Kabbalah. I'm not jealous of what "special" relationship you have. I believe I to am in love with the girl I'm dating. Never have I met a person so wonderful. The sin is not that you like females or males it is that first homosexuality is not "right" in G-d's eyes since are not creating and your intent is not for creation. Invetiably you committing an abomination since homosexual intercourse as alluded by Leviticus is a sin. So how would not following the command of going out and multiplying be held(besides artifical incemanation). G-d's story of Adam and Eve the need for the two work together in harmony not split and work alone as one sex but as two thus making them one. I'm not saying oh let's kill the hethen who desecrates the name of JUDAISM! Remember our Father teaches us not to slander others names. We can't kill those who we disagree with since we do not have a Temple Rebuilt since it's destruction by the Romans. I'm not saying homosexuality is created by the pagans its origins are irlevant to me but I do know it was a common practice among the pagans freely accepted by their society but not by the Israelites.
Here read this could help you understand a little bit more of where I'm coming from. Rabbi Yossy Goldman is brilliant

Divash, I apologize in advance for posting on Shabbat. I, at the moment, feel the need to join this debate as one of the few in this guild who is not heterosexual, and has practiced various paganisms in the past.
Bored: whether or not you take those passages at face value, you're left with an annoying problem; the passages do not say in what way you are not to lie with a man the same as a woman. Is this a sexual position, the actual act of reproduction, or something else? I lean heavily toward the reproductive act, as such a thing would go against G-d's design of the human reproductive organs. It would, essentially, make it so the sexes do not need to cooperate, but can isolate themselves and still reproduce.
If such an act was worthy of cultural destruction, why were the Spartans allowed to build the world's most powerful military? Why were the Romans allowed to conquer nearly all of the Western world? Why did Alexander succeed in conquering all the known world? These cultures were not destroyed (Italy and Greece both remain), so where were the plagues? Why has Canada (hehe) been allowed to exist, or Vermont for that matter, when they accept homosexuality? The people in Soddom and Gammorah were not wiped out for sticking Tab A into Slot C instead of Slot B, they were punished for being a truly evil people.
Pagans, by no means, are to blame for *****, bestiality, homosexuality, or incest (none of these are in the same category as each other). Monotheists practice these habits the same as polytheists. Pagans did, and do, have some pretty strict codes of behavior in regards to honorable relationships, and engaging in bestiality, *****, and incest generally goes against these codes. I say generally because there are some crazy cults out there, but those pop up in all religions. Placing these things at the feet of the Pagans puts Jews up on the pedestal of "superior people", and I for one have no intentions of ever making that claim.
All we can do is speculate on what G-d feels, and trust that our beliefs are correct. None of us can know for sure until we've died and moved on, unless G-d decides to contact us directly (even then, how will we know it's G-d?). Demonizing and judging others negatively on vague passages that may or may not possibly vindicate you is a pretty silly thing to do, especially when the people you're casting judgment on are more than capable of presenting reasonable arguments themselves. You're free to believe what you want about homosexuality, but to acuse those of us who aren't of the heterosexual bent as casting down "hate toward the law of HaShem" is an insult of the highest degree. Those are the same damned insults used by the born-agains against Jews for "casting down hate on the law of Jesus". I, for one, will not stand by as such words are thrown at any Jew.

Arg- the same goes for me as well.
Domnu said it much more eloquently, but think about it this way: the world hates us enough as it is. Do we really need to hate it each other, too?
Religion is based on faith and belief. None of us were actually at the writing of the Torah, we didn't see Jews enslaved in Egypt, and we weren't present at the creation of the world. So, how can you say with any sort of real certainty that what you feel is right? I have nothing against you stating your opinions, but when you start insinuating that you're better than somebody else (or are free from a sin somebody else supposedly committed), I also object.
Keep it nice, or I will start handing out warnings and eventually bans. And I will get an Internet llama to start eating everybody.

Ok... I figured something out. First. You're both right. Second. You're both wrong. Third. It's pointless to clarify either of the previous statements as neither the pro-gay or anti-gay side will concede the field. Regardless of tradition or logic. So... pictures will replace words.
