Liza swelled with pride looking at the tiny bundle of black, his cub, dark as the ace of spades only with a flock of hair that would one day become a undoubtedly wavey creamy mane.
Grooming the dark cub he nudged behind the childs ears and grinned. How many more children would they have this night? Koi was doing so well, such a large litter to birth.
The little dark cub wriggled and squeeked as he was pulled about his fathers gentle carressing, drying toungue warming him and welcoming him in to the world. He settled quickly as his father placed him beside his siblings and finding a teat he drank deeply of his mothers milk taking in the first breath of life that he would need to continue in to his life.

Koi gazed at the boy... and the children that she and Liza gave live too. It was a miracle. She gaze down at hte litter, so amazed at how lovely they were already. She settled down to take a breather-she felt as though she were done. That was it.
Five cubs. She gazed over at Liza lovingly, her purple eyes showing her tiredness and fatigue. She wasn't sure if she would ever want to go through the pain of birthing for a while-but-...
She felt another pain. She winced, one more?
The last cub was born. Koi cleaned him, happy that it was over. Now she could lay back and observe her brood.
]The little girl grumbled as someone else was brought next to her feeding spot. She sent another savage kick to who ever it was-her tiny growls barely audible. How dare they try to get her spot. Her tiny black frame wriggled and tried to make more distance between who ever it was and herself. She didn't like being crowded. She didn't like being in the dark place all crowded and she didn't like being in the bright place crowded.
She didn't like it at all

Liza watched, almost surprised by the final cub. It had seemed to have been over but no, one final cub sprang tooth and claw in to the world and Liza welcomed him. Pulling the final cub towards his chest the dark maned male groomed the little male until his fur shimmered. "Th..they are bbeautiful." He stammered lifting the gold and orange cub to placehim beside his other siblings.
He noted the wrestlessness of the black female and lifted her away from her brothers and sister to hold her against his soft, silky mane. "Sh..she is a fighter llike you Koi." he stammered his dark eyes shimmering. He was so proud of her, so happy that she was well, tired but well. And what a bundle they had braught in to the world. Six tiny balls of different coloured fluff.
He sighed softly, the responsability sat firmly with him to teach his sons about the world and to praise and worship his daughters like the goddesses they were. His life, he thought, could get no better than this.

Koi lay down and sighed-this time she was done. As hte cubs began to settle, she reached a paw up to pull liza down so she could kiss his ear. She was so glad-that the goddess shown him to her... brought him home and gave them both a family. She gazed down at the children, observing them. A little family of their own. More life for the pride.
Koi sighed and gazed at Liza and the black female cub. Seems she is... -yawn-sigh- She will prove herself despite her color-and her low rank... she will be a fighter... a proud daughter.
I see you in all these children Liza... so I suppose she gets my spunk-to make it fair

Liza smiled foolishly and nuzzled koi as she licked at his ears his dark maned head lowering in respect.
"Yyes koi, she will be strong." he smiled and groomed his little dark daughter to see if he could get her to settle calmly. "Ththey will need nnames koi." He smiled looking to the large orange female, his dark eyes quietly questioning. he expected she would want to name the cubs, she after all was the mother, she was in charge and he would not question her choices.

Koi gazed at all the little females in the litter-gazing at them-admiring them... putting them in their ranks in her mind. How beautiful their family was... and some attractive males that would no doubt-make someone very happy in the future. She smiled up at Liza. They are all strong. Look at them all... She may be a kicker but-I think they all did their share of jabbing me.
She gazed lovingly down at them and yawned slowly-her eyes squeezing shut. She shook her head. I am tired... I think we will name them later... I am very v-very tire... She said, laying her head down around the cubs and shutting her eyes.
She was a honorable mother now

Liza gave a slow nod shuffling towards koi to provide warmth for her and the six tiny bundles that slept beside her. He smiled happily. He was a father, it was somehting he had never dreamed of but now it had happened he felt more proud than he had ever felt before.
This was the best day of his life.
