sidonia Do you think Stewart Townsend would make a good Jareth? eek *drools* I'd totally forgotten about him! That's not a bad suggestion either

Im torn, as much as I would like to see a new movie I feel that David Bowie for me is the eternal Jareth. I agree that he is getting a bit old for the part, ex The prestige. If they did make a movie I can't help but think, while I would watch it that something is just not right with a new Jareth. As for the part of Sara, that doesn't bother me so much. As for Johnny playing Jareth, while I love him as an actor and he sung very well in Sweeny, it still would be weird for me. Like where is Jereth and who is this person impersonating him.

Hm...personally, I can't see anyone else being Jareth except Bowie. Sure, he's aged a little but I still think that he could/would/should be the only one to pull it off. It's not all about looks, David Bowie also had that 'Jareth' aura about him. As wonderful of an actor Johnny Depp is, I just know that he would not satisfy me.
I think that Jennifer Connelly could take up her role again, although that is a tad more interchangeable and I could live with someone else taking the role. Overall though, I personally would stay with the same cast.
Although I've been trying to decide on a Toby and have failed miserably. I don't think Haley Joel Osment could pull it off, he just seems too...odd for the role. Frankie Muniz was mentioned earlier in the thread and that is a definite no. Nothing against Muniz, but I just don't think that he could do it either. I think perhaps Hollywood would have to dig and find a new talent.

I would love to see them make a new. I'd still see it even if it's a remake or off the manga. David Bowie was awesome but they might have to get someone new for the role being that he aged. I'm not sure Jennifer would come back for the role but that would be nice.

David Bowie would play Jareth of course. He's still gorgeous and makeup and airbrushing goes a long way. Jennifer Connelly would play Sarah of course, considering she's like 15 years older in the manga.
As for toby... Toby Froud could play himself again if he wanted to. He's about 22, and Toby in the manga is supposed to be highschool aged. so it's not that much of a difference.

I think Jareth Sarah and Toby should be who they were in the movie however I don't think the manga would be a good movie. Sorry but I feel that Labyrinth ended with the movie cause I don't believe Jim Henson had the manga as even an idea for the continueation(sp?) of the movie and since he isn't here to say it is what he'd have wanted I like it but it's not the same thing to me.

I loved the orginal cast but I think in terms of another movie its kinda kaput. I think if they made an anime they could use the same voice actors if they wanted to that way it'd have the same sort of aura to it.
However as much as it pains me to say this i have to agree that david really is to old. Jennifer connely however I think would still be perfect for the part. Then we come to the issue of cast um seriously I don't know who could play toby but I know who could play mizumi...I just don't know the actor's name.

sidonia Do you think Stewart Townsend would make a good Jareth? That's an idea I could live with... and someone mentioned earlier Johnny Depp? NEVER! It would ruin Jareth as I see him! (Hate Johnny Depp personally)

Javinus I have to agree with Chex-Mix on this issue some. Even though David Bowie is a superb actor and still a heartthrob to many girls worldwide, he has aged. Gracefully, yes, but he has still aged. I might be chased out of the guild for saying this, but I didn't quite like Jennifer Connelley as Sarah. *ducks and hides* It was early in her acting career, so her skills certainly were amateur in ways. However, things most likely have changed since then, being that she is now a hit actress, staring in a James Bond movie and more. I would have to vote to get a new cast, but with just as much or more charisma as the original cast. Keep the Jim Henson company in there too. What do you mean "aged gracefully"? That's face lifts and other things. smile But he still looks good none the less.

We say "aged gracefully" because he wasn't suddenly hit with old age. David Bowie isn't a dry bag of flabby skin. His facial and muscle tone is still there, only in the beginning stages of becoming loose.
I hope that clears up any misuderstandings.
As I went through this again, I'll have to say that the original Labyrinth cast cannot be replaced. It would be just too strange. Sure, other movies may be duplicated with another director and another cast, etc., etc. Labyrinth is just one of those genius movies where nothing can be changed for fear of losing that originality that is Jim Henson.

Saingirl101 He was a true genious to the end. May he rest in peace. Oh shucks, perk up darling. Jim Henson was indeed a magnificent man with a wonderful imagination; however, this is a Labyrinth guild!
We talk about the deliciousness that is Jareth and the delectable situations we can find our favorite shipping in! We discuss the mood swings, the what if's and the miscellaneous! scream It's a euphoric torture we all participate in.
Now. What if a whole 'nother country got a hold of Labyrinth? Any idea on how they would remake the movie?
