I do like the idea of having a bank password each time you access (if you choose that feature) that would be nice. Annoying but nice.

Of course this doesn't help if a GM turn rogue and decide to steal his own guild bank and sell for gold and said he/she was hacked.

No it doesnt, but I'd imagine that scenario is pretty rare compared to your average guild robbery, and if the GM is being keylogged/hacked into, thats an entirely different issue.

Sigh... Somebody hacked the account of one of the co-gms of my guild and used him to rob the entire guild bank (I mean everything).. We had FIVE TABS... over a thousand gold was taken and many more thousands in items..

Anyway.. It's frustrating..
I put a lot of stuff in to that bank..

blizzard has locked the guys account while they check it out, but I imagine they won't do jack s**t...

rare in WoW maybe, but I have play other gaming system which happen more often than not.

Usually a group of people work their way up the ranks and steal from them at the end.. kinda like real life robbery but with gaming stuff.

My guild bank was robbed and we got almost everything back. It took a few days (maybe a little over a week) but be patient.

Our guild was robbed twice before we put in new rules.

Only the GM can access the gold. Only Raiders have access to certain tabs. And you can't take out more than 5 items per tab a day no matter who you are. (Or maybe over all).

Doing just those few things will cut down on losses when people are hacked in your guild.

My boyfriend's account was just hacked. Like, an hour ago. He can't even log on to his main, they are trying to transfer it to another server!

gonk

We have never given our passwords to anyone... We were always really careful. There is no one in our guild except us and some level 9 guy who can't even see our guild bank.

blargh... We never have time to play because of the baby and we had 560 gold in our bank that was stolen, plus a ton of other mats. So it took us forever to accumulate all that.

I just submitted a ticket. I don't get how this could happen. gonk

blargh... they just changed his password. Maybe it's blizzard freezing the account. I hope it is :/ For a brief moment he was able to get in... His druid was naked and all her stuff sharded

His main had 990 gold and random items we've never seen before. @__@

I hope I never get hacked. But I don't have that great of stuff anyway. It would just be frustrating because she's my first character and everything.

But I have heard in the lovely Trade channel of Thunder Bluff that some guy stole everything from a guild bank. Warned my guild not to accept him in.

But I think you can change the uh... options or something so only Officers of the guild can access the bank, so you have to ask them for the item/gold you want. That's what my guild does. Or, that's what they say, at least.

;__;

they completed the transfer and they changed the character's name... We are having the account investigated. We managed to lock them out of the account but only after everything was taken. And they deleted half his characters.

The douche bag even got him banned from wow's forums for bad language. I have no idea what he posted..

I really hope they restore our stuff. *sniff*

I would cry if I personally got hacked.

So Thursday we're in Kara standing in the doorway to Prince about to fight him when one of our healers signs off. Now, he's not very talkative, so in vent he just says, "Uh oh...." So everyone's like, "What?" He goes, "I'm trying to log in now." So we see he comes back online, but now he starts to hearth....He hearths out of Kara and goes offline. Now I still don't know what's going on at this point. Then our tank goes, "Hurry, they're on your bank character!" So come to find out, someone hacked him somehow. They hearthed out of Kara, mailed his gold away, signed onto his bank character, and mailed that gold away too. They made off with a couple thousand. Scary stuff.

There's been a lot of this going around lately, and individual accounts being hacked as well. One of the suggestions I read said to never, ever click on a link posted in the offical WoW forums, because people are sneaking in keyloggers, trojans, and other fun stuff in them.

Other than that (and running virii/ spam & spyware scans regularly and religously), the consensus was there's not much you can do.

It always make me sad to hear about players who loose control of their accounts even though they take all the precautions. They don't install addons, they regularly update their security software and scan for viruses, ect.

When players who are careful have their accounts compromised, it's likely because they were key logged. I read a great suggestion from a comment on a WoW Insider Article. It reads as follows:

Quote:
I work in IT Security and my suggestions are Firefox with "NoScript" installed. Almost all of the keyloggers will come from visting sites with 0 pixel IFRAMES or just the general malcious javascript. Install Firefox and NoScript and then selectively enable Javascript on sites you trust.

Generally these loggers are installed by a call to javascript to a site that is different from the one your using, so after you have NoScript take a look at the little NoScript icon down the bottom right and see what sites are requesting to run script. I only usually enable (and then only temporarily) the site I am visting, or sites I know about (like youtube for example to see movies).

Its still possible for hackers to compromise a site itself and put the javascript files on the main site but its alot harder than just pulling their script from their own site.

I installed no script a week ago and I already feel a lot better. Here is a link to the No Script add on. If you use it, make sure to go under options and disable iframes as well. Hope this helps some of you.

The problem with Key-logging is that there isn't really a good solution to that kind of problem. So whenever Blizzard does chose to act upon it, it'll be a long time.

ha ha That happened to my guild as well. The guy that got hacked was a real a*****e too, so as much as it sucked, it was kinda funny...
