By this point, Ben had smoked the majority of his cigarette and it was no longer tasting appealing. He extinguished it and then looked around the room as the air filled with the sweet musk of cloves. Would anyone ever come to this place?

((I'll consider that a yes!))
*Synge had only one thought on her mind ever since she left her home, and that was to return to the only place she had truly felt at ease. Things were different this time, she was different. Still, there was still a part of her that knew she longed to return to the DarkSeas. Perhaps she could remember her happiness here because of the key that she had kept all this time. As she followed the path she took the key out of her pocket and clutched it in her hand. It represented a lot for her, even if she could barely tell what anymore. Soon the tavern appeared, but it was different, changed in many ways physically. A bit shocked, she was at least glad to see it was open. It was actually perfect, a change in her and a change in the place she enjoyed most. Seemed right. Still clutching the key at her side she walked up to the door and slowly opened it to step inside. She was surprised at what she saw. The interior was also changed, and so was the man who sat in it. She stood, unable to say anything.*

(( You would be correct! ))
The door was considerably less creakier than it used to be but it still made a slight creak as it opened. The air smelling of cloves is first to reach the young woman and soon after was the smell of old building mixed with new construction.
The young, dark haired and dark featured stranger stood up and whirled 'round to meet the person entering, the sound of his coat made a light flap as he turned. He came face to face with the young woman and nodded politely. When he spoke, it was very awkward...
Umm...yes...hi there...welcome.

*Synge noticed the strange combination of smells surrounding her and scrunched her nose a bit in reaction. She also noticed the quick reaction of the man at her entrance, she considered the possibility that she was one of his first customers. His awkward speech amused her, was he shy or just not used to being around people? Her voice sounded confident, but lacked much enthusiasm.*
Hello. Are you the owner now?

For a moment, the young man looked at the woman blankly, it was as if he was trying to process something. He seemed focused on something and then he returned to a more alert look.
Yeah...I...uh, bought the place...sorry about the old owner...I understand he was... well...very well known. Now, it's just me.
The man's voice sounds slightly awkward but becoming more normal with each exchanged word.
Were you a customer...I mean, before...of course you are now...but before.

*Synge felt a little uncomfortable as the man stared at her, causing her to shift a bit. At the mention of the old owner she clutched the key tighter in her hand and quickly slipped it back into her pocket and out of sight. She wondered why she had come back here now, but managed to stay put as the man continued talking. She considered his question for a moment before answering.*
Hmm, yes, I was. As for now, I'm not sure if I'm really a costumer just yet. Passing by really. What was your name again? I know I was told before by that old owner you mentioned, but it slipped my mind.

He felt a bit of hesitation from the woman and then realized he had been staring, he sheepishly moved his eyes away.
Heh...sorry about that...I mean...assuming and all. Welcome anyway.
He rubs his right hand on the inside of his shirt and then offers it to you.
I am Ben, err...Benjamin that is...if you are being formal...of course, I could be called Mr. Austerre but it sounds too professional and formal so...yeah...just Ben.
Ben chuckled lightly at his own roundabout way of speaking.
It would be nice to know you, I mean your name, if...that is...you wanted to tell me.

*Synge raised her eyebrow slightly as she watched him rub his hand before offering it to her. She was sure she hadn't met a more awkward person in quite a while. Still, she didn't seem to mind and offered her hand in return, shaking it for a short moment before letting go.*
Don't worry about it. Someone coming in here would probably seem to be a customer I suppose. Speaking of which, where are your customers?
*She thought she knew the answer to her question already, but thought she would ask anyway.*
Oh right, Benjamin, that rings a bell. So you want to be called Ben? Hmm.
*She seemed to ponder this a moment before answer your own question, which was odd in it's delivery.*
Oh, well, my name is Synge. It might be hard to know me, but you can surely know my name, that shouldn't be too hard to learn.

(( Isn't he just adorably awkward! rofl ))
Ben's handshake, despite his apparent awkwardness in conversation, was quite normal and assertive. He smiled gently for the first time since he had met you and something inside his blue eyes seemed to be waking up.
Where are the customers? Heh...yeah...about that...you see...there aren't any. You are the first one so, I am not really sure what I am supposed to do. Kind new at this whole business thing...ya know?
Ben almost felt like he was being immature by what he had said, but he couldn't help it, the truth was the truth.
Oh, and yeah, please call me Ben, less formal. It's nice to meet you Synge...
He says your name slowly as if making sure he said it right, seeing no negative response, he felt he had.
As for being hard to know you...well...that is...er...it depends on the term, if its Biblically speaking, "knowing" you could be very easy or very hard depending on your level of self worth. Knowing who you, Synge, at your core are, is a rather more complicated matter.

((Yes! He is perfect! haha))
*Synge nodded as she listened to Ben's explanation. She had figured this was the case.*
Well, I wouldn't be too worried. Or at least I wouldn't be too surprised. Last time I checked this place just had problems getting a huge flood of customers, but perhaps that will change?
*She seemed to ignore his slow pronouncing of her name, she found no problems with it.*
Ben seems so average for you.
*She paused for a moment, considering what she had said*
Was that rude? I'm sorry.
*She was being the strange one now it seemed. She seemed a bit confused by your last comment and just chose not to reply on that matter for now.*
((Leaving soon?))
